LEAVE A COMMENT for your chance to WIN the 'When Creators Collide LIVE' download + PDF of original book. Tell me, "Do you think it matters if your sleeves are up or down when performing magic?" Stay safe and keep washing those hands. 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌❤
I think it makes you seem more casual and relatable when you roll up your sleeves. It also gets rid of everyone's first thought when it comes to how you performed the trick.
Yes it matters , because they trust us only when we have our sleeves rolled up and they think that nothing is going on when are sleeves are rolled up but when they are down they assume that something is going fishy and we are using some sleight
In my opinion using sleeveless shirts sor T-shirt’s brings the full effect of getting rid of the sleeve so the thought isn’t even there but card tricks are fine with anything
Yes, definitely, when you start by doing a trick once with your sleeves down, then roll up your sleeves and do it one more time, it is so much more impressive
I think it makes you seem more natural if the sleeves are up and it makes the tricks seem more impossible.
This is one of the most beautiful routines that you have shown on here thank you.
When performing without sleeves be heard people mumble “but he doesn’t even have sleeves!” For that reason alone I like the no-sleeve strategy 😊
Jonathan Snow same!

yep.
Mister Jay Sankey... this is an amazing trick and and even more amazing tutorial ! Thank you so much sir.
Nothing up this sleeve; nothing up the other sleeve, and my hands never leave my arms.
@@boodigar Yes, in a perfect world, they would be. But have you been watching the news lately!?!
EZBoi11 did you not get the joke?
EZBoi11 did you not get the joke?
Ice Knight ah! Humor. Ha!
Just a simple beautiful magic trick! Can´t wait to get my hands on that! Btw, when performing I rather have a long sleeve on but with the sleeves up, that way you get the best of both worlds.
Awesome and beautiful! Thank you!
What a beauty! Thank you for this Sankey!
I keep coming back to this video. And I'll keep coming back until I have tenkai pennies completely mastered. The trick is amazing for all the reasons you say, it's pure and immediate magic and this is the best version of it. Add in all the subtleties you've shared here and this video becomes a micro-masterclass in magic. PLEASE never hesitate to dive into all your subtleties and details, don't act like they're a bore, we crave them!! Thank you again, amazing stuff
I am so excited to practice and learn this!!!
Love the videos! You have taught me so much! Keep up the hustle!!!
You are amazing!

Awesome thanks brother 🙏
Great magic, congratulations
great work mr jay
superb coin magic🔥🎩👍
Jay, this is one of your all-time greatest, videos. Pure magic, and so many helpful tips to make it work. THANK YOU!. Stay safe, Bro.
I think it does add to the trick as it adds a layer of “transparency” to the trick that nothing’s hiding up the sleeve and also adds more complexity to the trick!
Love your show😎
That is brilliant. Thanks so much for demonstrating. I will really need to practice those sleights.
thanks teacher Sankey, i am learning a lot thanks to you.
Thanks Jay. I love how good yet relatively easy to do the tricks you teach are! I'm totally a 'no - sleever'.
Wow.
Incredible jay
🙌🙌🙌🙌
Beautiful routine, brilliant adaptations, beautiful and brilliant.😎
I love this coin trick, I'm going to practice this.
This is superb
short and awesome 👍👍
Long sleeves, no sleeves, no shirt, it doesn’t matter....your skill level is out of this world. Just AWESOME!
While it does dispel the old "it's up his sleeve" theory and look completely impossible, I still think that the evening suit magician really looks magical. And although I think it's ok to talk about "tricks" magician to magician, we should only say "magic" when talking to the audience. I have seen people be amazed when seeing the impossible done, and then when the word trick is said, they seem to lose the air of amazment
Discovered your video today. Awesome magic! Loved it. Especially the absence of sleeves!
Subscribed.
This is really beatiful coin magic. This slight of hand are amazing :)
Amazing my friend!! I want that shirt!
Love your videos. I am not magician...nor really practice it....but love your explanations and enthusiasm.
Sleeves up! Two of the best plus collaboration equals gold!
Truly beautiful trick. I wish I'd learn this to amaze my daughter!!! Thank you! I'll give it a try!
It's so cool because of how close to visual magic this is but still fools the mind not only the eyes. It's a fantastic discovery.
I love it
You are amazing bro
It's important to perform without sleeves! It makes the magic stronger and the spectators are convinced, that there is nothing tricky or undeceptive
I’m new to all of this and don’t really know why I haven’t been into this before. If someone is doing something in front of me it seems more honest to not have the sleeves or being sleeves up. You are amazing and appreciate what you do here.
This is pure gold. Thank you so much.
On the sleeves topic: it’s very dependent on the setting and I have never encountered the “it’s up your sleeve”-accusation. But even if I would, I think it’s even better -> because there really is nothing up my sleeve and I can easily prove this to a potential heckler.
wow! gr8 fingers and hand dexterity. This one is impressive!
Rolled up sleeves are the best as it literally shows “ nothing up my sleeve”
Thanks for sharing your art! I like long sleeves and be able to roll them up to add communication with audience. However, in the Summer I only use short sleeves.
You're amazing gentleman, Wow! You even reveal your tricks.Hats off before your skills😍😍
This is what I consider pure magic! The beauty of sleight of hand techniques combined with psychological subtleties. Really, a beauty to behold. Thanks Jay for sharing this gold to the magic community. Keep on rocking!
Wow, thank you!
That was sick and you have such great and smooth slight of hand
That is really awesome been wanting to know how back palm a coin very beautiful routine. When I do my shows I use short sleeve makes the magic more better.
Having the sleeves up adds the subtle element of trust that the magician might not try to do anything sneaky . It actually leaves the Spector/ spectators lay off their guard for even one minute and that is when the magician actually does his trick . Yes having the sleeves up does affect the trick
I want to start by saying how much I love your videos. You are a really talented magician and am helping my magic skills develop! I love learning little facts about the trick so that I can make them seem so much more professional when I teach them to my friends. The simplest tricks are already SO awesome and I think that rolling up your sleeve just makes your audience feel a bit more of a thrill from what they saw. The human mind always wants to figure things out and will attempt to come up with any answer to the near impossible act they witnessed. So I think to truly blow away your audience, rolling up your sleeves so then limiting the ways that you could have cheated them will make them one step closer to believing that what they just saw was MAGIC!
Keep up the great work and your thanks a lot for keeping me entertained in quarantine! 👏👏👏 And I’m totally heading straight to your magic website!
Great Great sankey
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
very clean
That is the most beautiful coin trick..
Nice skills
It's nice
I believe that Rolling your sleeves Up during the Performance adds that Air of mystery to the entire Show!
Sleeves up for life !
I’m a fan of Rocko Silano, so I would use what I could get away with. I appreciate the honest and open vibe of rolling up a sleeve, and appreciate what you have done as you. Great routine, thanks for sharing.
I love the more casual look. Something you might see someone wearing even on the street. The more ordinary the person, and the more ordinary the object; the more extraordinary the magic.
I think sleeves up adds. Thanks for this trick... very nice
I like the rolled/short sleeve option. I like the casual look and it adds to the perception of impossibility;
All i can say is WOW.... YOU ARE AMAZING TEACHER 😍🤩
excellent trick never before
sleeves up for sure. Adds an air of mystery and REAL magic
I ALWAYS work with sleeves rolled up.
At 6’5”, most off the rack long sleeve shirts aren’t long enough to wear with sleeves down anyway, but I feel the having the sleeves rolled up, eliminates the “up the sleeve” theory about magic, and enhances the impossibility of whatever I’m doing.
Great country trick! I am starting to practice it right now! Love the pinch of the coin behind the hand! And yes, no sleeves or sleeves up makes everything more magical. It's the old premise of making the audience feel very sure that you have shown them everything there is to see. That is my number one rule for my magic. If you do that, they will believe anything!
I agree with almost everything you've said...but what is a country trick??
I reckon it adds to magic, the sleeves.....
Thanks for your support to us in this illusionistic society.....😀😀😀😀👍👍
Your content is too good to be appreciated
Hi Jay! I’ve just been reading through your online books (I love the ‘Always On My Mind’ one). I was wondering if you could possibly do the Amateur vs Professional trick from Buried Treasure as my friend showed me the trick but I can’t work out how it’s done and the description has confused me!
Thanks a lot and stay safe!!
I have never been able to get the original Tenkai, but that Scotty York fist technique came so naturally I couldn't believe it, and I use it SO much. It was definitely worth the practice.
Ya know, I had the SAME experience.
I like the push the sleeves up approach.
"It's up his sleeve!" How many times have you heard that from an audience member/heckler? Sleeves are for sissies LOL roll them up and make it look impossible!
‼‼‼‼
This is an impromtu gem that deserve to be practiced again and again. Perfect party or bar trick.
I think sleeves up, improves the believability of the trick. Great videos! I've been using some to amaze my kids and their friends!
I roll them up to help load things in my hands ;) I love it when you do something to "stop trickery" that actually helps the trickery!!
Hi. Excellent trick. Folded or no sleeves makes the trick look more legit. Keep it up
Nice coin trick
I like the idea of a long sleeve shirt for the "smart look" then being able to perform and any person who seems a little sceptical you can add a line to your performance stating they look a little sceptical so im going to roll up my sleeves for this one 👍
This blew my mind
Perfecto, Maestro!!!?
Grazie!
I personally like to wear long sleeves with them rolled up to mid forearm. I think it adds to the magical moments during performance.
Hey Sankey, Loved the video, great variation with the point. I will be practicing this all day. My opinion on Long or Short sleeves is that it's up to the spectator. I always ask when I go out to perform. I have a routine for long sleeves and one for short. But I think my favorite way is long sleeves at the beginning and rolling up my sleeves halfway through. I'll do a coin vanish, take my jacket off in the off beat, then I produce it.
Hi!
Thank you for this video.
I think this will be the routine I will learn next. It's quick and so so deceptive. Even though I know how everything is done, it goes so quickly that I'm still startled by the coins moving magically from hand to hand.
I spent months learning a longer routine called Gadabout coins.
It had about 8 sleights that I had to learn from scratch.
And it's such a long routine I feel shy about showing it to anyone lol.
This routine I think could someone with less anxiety, because it will be over so quickly.
But learning all of the sleights in Gadabout coins was incredibly rewarding.
The greatest challenge was learning do the classic palm click pass.
It wasn't easy :)
I had to learn to palm the coin convincingly.
Then learn to do a good classic palm vanish.
And finally do the complete click pass without dropping either of the concealed coins.
What a challenge it was and well worth it
It was childhood dream to learn coin magic and over 30 years later I did it
😊
Goodness this is beautiful. What’s the right book to start for coin noobs?
Super bro
Now that's a hot one 👌👍
Yes
Wow ser
i think it makes the trick look way better because it makes look more convincing and amazes them even more its really nice to see their faces when they are bamboozled
I feel the same. I also think there is a psychological/visual 'focusing' that happens when your sleeves are up.
I do a sweet coin vanish while rolling up my sleeves. Coin starts in the right hand, roll up the right sleeve, false transfer, the coin is then put into the left sleeve as it's being rolled up. I do one more apparent transfer and "the coin vanishes even with the sleeves rolled up".
Loved this trick, Jay. Gregory Wilson has a great three-fly using this same "Goshman Pinch" technique which I perform all the time. I will be using this two coin version. Thank you!
Love the new glasses! 👓 I feel that even if your sleeves are down, most sleeves are fairly tight and very difficult to conceal objects BUT that doesn’t stop people’s skepticism. It’s absolutely more impressive having them up and many people say “well, I would guess it’s up your sleeve... but they’re rolled up!” 😎
Thanks JG! 👍👍👍👍👍
That was awesome! I've always been into magic, no sleeves definitely adds to the magic, with practice hiding things in your sleeves I believe people expect that and I've seen explained magic that the person used their sleeves. So yes no sleeves helps the magic look and feel more real.
Performing without sleeves makes it so much better because it shows the audience that you have skill and you don’t need to hide anything up your sleeves.
This is a very nice routine. Very technically demanding of the sleight of hand, and therefore one that I think I won't be able to perform myself. Quite the treat none the less.
🥞😀👌✌
It adds to the magic
