IDK i get that it's tedious but it is the very first level to have the ranger missions.
@ ugly is subjective and imo there’s much worse turret sections in the series. Hoven in RaC 1. Not to mention the amount of vehicles you pilot later on which are just turrets that you can move. I get turret sections are bad but again it is the very first planet where it comes up so for me at least I can tolerate it and even enjoy it. I think the rangers are what makes me ok with them. For the first time you have real Allies helping you out and it makes me want to protect them.

I actually really liked Kalebo III. I think the vibe perfectly fit Gadgetron as this kind of parody of Google/Apple and the difficulty was cool. My least favorite would probably be Hoven (in terms of not caring for it) or Drek's fleet (because the disguise and magnet boots sections made it pretty annoying)
I like your Interesting take on Marcadia🤔 Ive played UYA more times than I can count (casually as I don’t have the mental capacity or time to speed run) but I’d never personally think of it as the worst planet in UYA. For me it’s gotta be Quarks hideout that place even to this day still catches me off guard with all the crazy stuff it pulls. 😂😅 Totally agree with you on Torval for Gladiator (no I’m not calling it Deadlocked) it just felt horribly short for being so far into the game, music was good at least.🎵
@@CasualFehPlayer-rf6sl I love the difficulty of hideout. I know that's usually the part that people hate but it's genuinely one of the hardest levels to this day even after many playthrough. I like that
Snivelak almost hits off of being the worst planet for me in going commando, mostly because of that a long-ass tedious giant robot boss fight. But the planets after Snivelak, were definitely the worst! I still remember having trouble getting through Damosel as a kid. Those Extermibots and Protopets were a nightmare!
Even Insomniac themselves agree on the RaC 2 pick. Marcadia skip turned Xem the WR holder in RaC 3 away from speedrunning the game. I'm pretty sure he's just waiting for something new to come up that renders the skip obsolete before coming back.
Grelbin is frustrating and annoying, but the only thing that partially saves it for me is the protopet xp farm and Angela's Groovy Lube coupon scene lol.
in my personal opinion Orxon in both visits is the worst level in the first game, clank mission is probably the longest in the series and insanely dull and the Ratchet mission has annoying enemies and difficulty and the visuals get tiring after a while despite having an interesting theme
Orxon is my favorite from Ratchet and Clank 1. It is nearly the most inhospitable place in the game, and having to explore as the weaker clank really put me on edge the 1st time through. When you return with the O2 mask it's still extremely dangerous to the point that it's best to just pick of those blue screechers and sneak past those monsters. Levels like Drek's fleet, Oltanis Orbit, and Quartu make you feel that the people in charge don't want you there. Orxon on the other hand makes you feel like the planet itself doesn't want you there.
Lol I was pretty unsure about what you would say for the first 2 but fuck Marcadia I knew you would say that's the worst one. Not just annoying to watch people play it in speedruns but it was so boring compared to every other level in the game. Same with size matters, at least the 2 ranger mission levels gave you a decent amount of money and let you kill a bunch of shit for a few minutes rather than having a side scroller mission and doing laser puzzles.
Oltanis would be better if the lightning didn't stop. I don't know if I would say it has 4 paths since one is just a gold bolt. Orxon is basically the only one with 4 objectives.
What I'm most surprised about your (and the comment section's) picks is the absence of Orxon (2002), I genuinely thought that was going to be the absolute most popular opinion. Here are my picks: Orxon Snivelak Qwark's hideout Dreadzone Station (2nd visit, there's no bossfight and all the challenges are boring) Dreamtime Spaceship Graveyard Reepor Darkwater Hideout's caves Vorselon's ship (3rd visit) Polar Sea (or glaciers idk) Snowy Ebaro The open world swamp Gaspar Savali
To this day, FFA remains the only Ratchet and Clank game (made by Insomniac) that I haven't finished. And those plasma harvesters were the point where I stopped.
R&C1: very difficult because i like every level so much because of nostalgia; In terms of difficulty Oltannis, in terms of exploration probably Batalia, (because you have to go back halfway through, shooting the warships is stressful and enemies are those boring lighting robots, overall a very boring planet. R&C2: Siberius, because its very short, and there is little creativity in it, a way too easy boss fight which remind me of the train in Kerwan in 1 and 3. As for Grelbin, I like that there is a way to get extra bolts that late in the game, and seeing Angelas home is nice:) R&C3: Quarks Hideout is horrible, ice everywhere, a very annoying clank section, mini pengiuns which are easy way too easy to defeat while Quark-robots are really tough to defeat and those warp-pad thing are so unecessary! I also hate Obani Gemini (the puzzle part).
Oltanis was a pain in the ass to do, but honestly, it teaches you to use the Visibomb to deal with distant targets, and to use weapons like the Decoy Glove and Glove of Doom. It makes absolutely sure you know what the hell you're doing with Ratchet's tools instead of just using the bomb glove, pyrociter, blaster and devastator. Now Gaspar, on the other hand, is complete garbage. It only exists for a pilot helmet, has surprisingly annoying enemies, and nothing else if you're not getting gold bolts. It's legit so bad, it's one of the best planets in the reboot game, and not just because of the jetpack. Everything in the reboot version naturally made me want to 100% go everywhere, even back when I NEVER 100%'ed anything, just get through the story and go. It's the most filled planet in the game, because the Pilot Helmet is used in three places, and that's it, whereas Quartu uses the hologuise throughout an entire branch, and you get the Map-O-Matic in Kalebo. Like picture this; you just got to Battalia, you got excited with the music, you're finally in the Act 2 of the game, you've been taken aback by the visuals and sights Ratchet 1 has shown. And now, you're sent to a difficult volcano planet for a helmet and nothing else, and never come back for anything, with a gold bolt immediately out of reach. Doing Orxon as Clank at age 5 was better than that entire planet as a 22 year old.
Okay, I'm typing this as I progress through the video. I agree with your Kaleebo III pick, without a shadow of a doubt. The planet feels like it should've come in earlier, when the story was a bit more upbeat and not as "near-game-end"-y. As much as I do feel Grelbin is the easiest pick for worst level, I have to give that to Planet Smolg. I can't really put my finger on why, besides the fact that it's the planet right after the high-octane (In a story sense) Snivelak boss-fight, and it's the planet that starts the extremely annoying fetch-quest regarding the Hypno-Matic pieces. It's the start of Going Commando's final act, and arguably it's weakest one. I've legitimately stopped playing shortly after reaching that planet countless times due to how drab it makes me feel. That being said, like I mentioned, Grelbin is annoying and I see why you picked it - I just find it less bad than Smolg because at least the moonstone collecting is optional, and to a certain degree made easier if you just have an upgraded shield and chargeboots. Maybe you die a handful of times, but you get the job done. Have to disagree with your UYA pick, especially considering you're judging it (mostly) from a speedrunning perspective. The fact it's only the 2nd planet, and already overly dramatic and segmented into 3 separate parts really made you feel "important" as a kid, like "yeah I'm the dude saving this planet from this alien invasion" kind of deal. Makes you feel epic, which as a kid, went really far. My personal opinion, Crash Site is worse. Song doesn't suit it, combat is extremely cheap in certain sections (tell me you've never had issues locking onto the gattling cow robots, I dare you), and even the level's pacing is bad. I kinda hinted to it when talking about Going Commando, but, I replay the OG trilogy at least once a year, for old-times sake, and every single time I reach that level I instantly start losing interest, in a similar way to Smolg. Fully agree with Deadlocked, for the most part Deadlock's levels are neither good nor bad so I can't really add much to it. I disagree on Size Matters; I genuinely don't think Rylar is that bad of a level, at least compared to Quodrona. I found Kortog to be more annoying than Cobalia, mostly due to the forced motion control sections. Glad they dropped those. ACiT's worst planet for me has to be Vapedia, if I had to choose. Most of ACiT's planets kind of just blend in together so it's a hard pick nonetheless. I dislike Quartu in RaC 2016, but I feel Aleero City is worse considering the disservice they did to such an iconic level.
I can definitely see where you are coming from with smolg. That was my least favorite level as a kid as for uya. I was judging marcadia more on a replayability scale as opposed to a first playthrough
Yeah, I have to agree with you on every take. We could see shifts in those rankings but it would be only based on subjective notes. Btw fuck that qwark dam section
yeah, I'd have to agree that Torren IV is the worst Rivet level, and also the worst level as a whole in my opinion, in Rift Apart. the whole reason we go there is so out of nowhere, and the Fixer's magical eye laser is so plot convenient, the Smuggler from Tools of Destruction would blush. I still like the planet a lot anyway, and that might just go to show how arguably great Rift Apart's levels are as a whole. as for Cordelion being the worst Ratchet level, yeah, I agree. but honestly, all of Ratchet's levels are really great, so it's not like Cordelion falls short of anything remarkable in my opinion.
It's funny how I didn't agree with any of these except for Rift Apart (only for Ratchet). I expected to agree with at least a few 😅. Still, great video!
I agree in most of them, is funny that kalebo is my persomal fav in the first game ahah, I would say the worst in the first is Umbris or the Drek station
@@buninja5604 Yeah I personally dislike Orxon but mostly due to the setting (and the music when playing as Clank) but I didn't disagree with your choices. I really don't like Marcadia being the most linear level that's just a series of battles. Even Rilgar and Aridia have you at least doing cool missions, and personally those are my two favorite stages cause I LOVED the multiplayer mode and played that to death wtih my friends and siblings, so I had a soft spot for those stages. Plus Aridia has my favorite stage theme music in the game, that kind of pirate sounding adventure music. hehe but I digress) I only have a soft spot for Kalebo III cause of the cool thing where if you beat it, you get discounts in the third game, and my least favorite 3 stage is Aquatis, but Mercadia is probably number 2. Those stages CHUG when you're doing Challenge mode, have all these banging weapons and have to slog through what feels like 2 back to back auto scrollers. And you thought the Ice gems were annoying to farm....the SEWER gems.... NO ONE ... likes the Sewer gems......NO ONE....
The worst original level in UYA would be Obani Gemini. It's just an overglorified hacking puzzle, but you're doing it manually, on foot, with the Refractor. Yuck!
I'd have given it to the Water planet who's name escapes me (Aquatis I think?) cause of the escort mission with Skid and navigating the sewers for those gems is DREADFUL when you return.... Especially given you get the (worst version of the) Hacker later on, it doesn't make sense why Skid has it...but he does save you the trouble of doing those annoying tempest clones that slow the pace of the game to a cosmic cycle.... and even then you have to go back to do an exceptionally long one to get a T-Bolt anyway. At least the other missions in Challenge mode don't feel like they kill the pace, but I always dread having to do the sewer stuff again to get enough bolts to buy all the next tier weapons. And it's bad enough to the level of making me wonder if it's worth replaying again....
correction: stygia has less dread challenges than torval at a fat fucking zero as for my picks from the ones i've beaten. rac1: fuck it it's kerwan, probably the most overrated planet in the entire series, like i'm sorry but the music simply isn't that good, and while i was blown away by the visuals the first time, they have really lost their spark for me. it's also really long-winded and honestly a little boring gc: it's been a while since i've played this one (or rac1 for that matter), but from what i remember there's not a single outright bad non-spaceship planet, though if i had to pick a least favorite, it would probably be notak because of how repetitive and spread out the combat is from my memory. grelbin is spared because i think the other sections are pretty neat, uya: yeah it's marcadia for pretty much the same reasons you said deadlocked: stygia's incredibly strong aesthetics make it win out slightly over sarathos, both of which have a pretty dismal array of challenges imo size matters: i don't actually mind the ryllus clank section, for my money the worst planet in the game would probably have to be either the inside of clank or challax, both of which are absolutely infested with those horrible midgets that slowly walk towards you as their only form of attack and take an eon to kill. this is probably a tie as they both are quite cool otherwise. sac: i can't think of a single bad level when taking into account only regular clank sections, so i'm going to include the gimmicky sections of each planet too, which leads me to the painful conclusion that hydrano, despite having an awesome final boss, is dragged down to the deepest pit of hell by that atrocious no-good qwark section
how can you say that about Kerwan? I go there just to chill gather bolts and enjoy the iconic music and escape reality, i agree on the notak take though, way to dark, especially on ps2.
@@henrikthenorwegian9902 idk it's just that when i last played rac1 i mainly just wanted to reach rilgar since that's when the game hits it's stride imo, and out of all the early-game planets, kerwan keeps me waiting the longest. i also just find the gameplay to be more boring than any other planet besides maybe eudora or novalis
Bruh, how was Orxon not the worst in Rat 1, it sucks both times you go there, whether the monotony of the Clank section or the difficulty of the Ratchet section.
Orxon was the most obvious pick but i feel like even though its tedious it has a lot of story relevancy and it is a very unique location with some really solid platforming and skill based combat. I think this one would easily be the worst in the game if i didn't have such a hatred for Kalebo III
Orxon is memorable in a good way, whereas Kalebo III is largely forgettable among the endgame It's a shame that the remake culled many such notable planets like Orxon and Eudora, yet retained Kalebo III...
@@thomaskuzma4360 it was meant to show that it doesn't that people's appearance doesn't matter and that everyone is perfect the way they are even though everyone is different. I probably explained that horribly but that's the general premise. Less prejudice judgement.
Snivelak is the worst by far. Grelbin isn't even bad if you have charge boots, on the contrary I love that planet. The only way snivelak is tolerable is by using the morph-o-ray.
@@buninja5604 Hehe Grelbin is hard, but yeah, I have to give it to Snivelak, mostly cause Greblin is a good place for weapon EXP farming as the leviathans and Yetis give tons of EXP. The Zodiac also makes good work of the area (the screen nuke you can get from ammo crates). the only thing that really annoys me is that you have to give the shaman like 24 of the crystals to move forward which means less bolts for the trade, but still. Snivelak....I'm sorry but that boss fight really cripples it hard for me. The path to it is pretty nice, but when most other levels are mostly that kind of stuff, it's hard to ignore the worst boss fight in the series. (both gameplay wise and story wise.... there's no reason for Angela to be trapped and she isn't mentioned when you "rescue" her at all. Though Ironically I do have a softspot for Gremlin because story wise, this is where Angela reveals she went under cover to stop the protopet invasion and gets her Employee ID card so you can break into the development facility and shut it down. which was a nice positive plot twist.)
I just skip Kalebo III by using the visibomb to hit the switch at the start of the level and go straight into hoverboarding

What’s the music you used for the Secret Agent Clank section? I’ve definitely heard it before just forgot 😅
I'm pretty sure it's from Super Mario Galaxy, but I could not tell you which song it is.
Purple Comet music from Mario Galaxy.
Hahaha grelbin.
Interesting take for RaC 2002. You make a good point though

Grelbin would be better if the enemies dropped more bolts and experience.
yeah that would be nice
@@buninja5604 Ya each enemy dropped like 50 bolts, which was basically the same as Tabora.
Honestly never realized how bad keilbo 3 and marcadea were to brought them up they were always a drag but never sat and thought about it deeply
@@JknAvenger yeah they are a definite drag not a lot of people realize pacing in the game K3 really kills me every time.
Plus Aridia has my favorite stage theme music in the game, that kind of pirate sounding adventure music. hehe but I digress)
I only have a soft spot for Kalebo III cause of the cool thing where if you beat it, you get discounts in the third game, and my least favorite 3 stage is Aquatis, but Mercadia is probably number 2. Those stages CHUG when you're doing Challenge mode, have all these banging weapons and have to slog through what feels like 2 back to back auto scrollers. And you thought the Ice gems were annoying to farm....the SEWER gems.... NO ONE ... likes the Sewer gems......NO ONE....
come on, how could someone dislike space rangers missions? D:
those were among my favourites xD
@@riccardomosena4162 I don't hate them they can just get repetitive after a while
This is probably the most random comment but I've never heard anyone pronounce Gondola the way you do! XD
lmao idk how to say it XD
Let’s not forget that this is your opinion and it’s not a fact
Has to be the desert planet in tools of destruktion
@@forwingol fastoon?
@ ye exatctly, I forgot the name, but ye that was a wierd planet 😄
You already know grelbin had to be on here
@@Theneptuno yup 🤦
The worst original level in UYA would be Obani Gemini. It's just an overglorified hacking puzzle, but you're doing it manually, on foot, with the Refractor. Yuck!
Its great aesthetic wise, but the whole puzzle is pointless when a glitch exists to just bypass the puzzle all together 😂
I hate that puzzle level so much, but Quarks Hideout is even more dreadful.
correction: stygia has less dread challenges than torval at a fat fucking zero
as for my picks from the ones i've beaten.
rac1: fuck it it's kerwan, probably the most overrated planet in the entire series, like i'm sorry but the music simply isn't that good, and while i was blown away by the visuals the first time, they have really lost their spark for me. it's also really long-winded and honestly a little boring
gc: it's been a while since i've played this one (or rac1 for that matter), but from what i remember there's not a single outright bad non-spaceship planet, though if i had to pick a least favorite, it would probably be notak because of how repetitive and spread out the combat is from my memory. grelbin is spared because i think the other sections are pretty neat,
uya: yeah it's marcadia for pretty much the same reasons you said
deadlocked: stygia's incredibly strong aesthetics make it win out slightly over sarathos, both of which have a pretty dismal array of challenges imo
size matters: i don't actually mind the ryllus clank section, for my money the worst planet in the game would probably have to be either the inside of clank or challax, both of which are absolutely infested with those horrible midgets that slowly walk towards you as their only form of attack and take an eon to kill. this is probably a tie as they both are quite cool otherwise.
sac: i can't think of a single bad level when taking into account only regular clank sections, so i'm going to include the gimmicky sections of each planet too, which leads me to the painful conclusion that hydrano, despite having an awesome final boss, is dragged down to the deepest pit of hell by that atrocious no-good qwark section
@@nintara3746 i like the stygia level more now. But yeah no dread challenges is pretty wild
how can you say that about Kerwan? I go there just to chill gather bolts and enjoy the iconic music and escape reality, i agree on the notak take though, way to dark, especially on ps2.
@@henrikthenorwegian9902 idk it's just that when i last played rac1 i mainly just wanted to reach rilgar since that's when the game hits it's stride imo, and out of all the early-game planets, kerwan keeps me waiting the longest. i also just find the gameplay to be more boring than any other planet besides maybe eudora or novalis
@ understood 😎
I disagrees in many cases, but good video anyway
I thought they were cactus cowboys
@@jackcottle8144 yeah that makes more sense but then again it's secret agent clank 🤣
@ I legit liked Qwark and ratchet levels lmao clank was boring
Bruh, how was Orxon not the worst in Rat 1, it sucks both times you go there, whether the monotony of the Clank section or the difficulty of the Ratchet section.
Orxon was the most obvious pick but i feel like even though its tedious it has a lot of story relevancy and it is a very unique location with some really solid platforming and skill based combat. I think this one would easily be the worst in the game if i didn't have such a hatred for Kalebo III
Orxon has the best environment of the whole game.
Orxon is memorable in a good way, whereas Kalebo III is largely forgettable among the endgame
It's a shame that the remake culled many such notable planets like Orxon and Eudora, yet retained Kalebo III...
Its so connected with the villian origin story though, The blarg world, where Drek started it all.
grelbin is my favourite level and i'm not even joking 😆
Can someone explain the I am Fixed line? It meant a lot to me as an autistic person.
@@thomaskuzma4360 it was meant to show that it doesn't that people's appearance doesn't matter and that everyone is perfect the way they are even though everyone is different. I probably explained that horribly but that's the general premise. Less prejudice judgement.
Great video but I disagree with every single take lol
hey thats fair, everyone has their own experiences with the games and planets. I'm glad you enjoyed the vid though
Snivelak is the worst by far. Grelbin isn't even bad if you have charge boots, on the contrary I love that planet. The only way snivelak is tolerable is by using the morph-o-ray.
@@bigman3 I have too many horrid memories of Grelbin 😭
Gaspar is way worse than Oltanis. So boring and lacking in content.
Nah Gaspar is heat
