Because a lot of company want idols to sing with cute little voices or some girly style ... Because that's something attractive about 'Kpop'. You can hear ex-trainees who have left their company, and singing again with 'their voices' before they are forced to ... They often have a "full" and mature voice in reality. A little the same tendency as Japan with the female characters of anime sometimes ... In shojo, the character generally has a small high pitch voice... = a totally unnatural voice of the Seiyu. But it's for animes... But it's a tendency.... If you listen to anything other than kpop, in other styles in Korea these days there are really nice full and round voices.

Like, in PK its Swan with very obvious rare unique voice in an idol group(cuz we can hear this kind of voice from solo artist like Jamie Park, Lee Hi, Bibi, Suran, not the same tone, but a unique voice, but we rare hear unique and rare voice tone in kpop idol group), Jieun also had nice deep tone to her voice, Ireh too. In Oneus, Leedo had a very pleasing tone to his voice especially when he sings. Gosh, i love his singing voice so much more than his rap. Not yhay his rapping is bad. Its just his singing tone is that good. In Mamamoo its Hwasa with her sultry & huskyness and Wheein with her angelic, smooth and sweet as honey and airy voice. Moonbyul with her deep voice. When she sings, its add different feel to the song cuz we rarely get deep voice GG idol member b4. But now theres some of them. Moonbyul, Jieun, Gidle Yuqi, StayC J(now she got a really deep voice), that 1 member from Bvndit, cant remember her name(she both rapper and singer in the group) to name few.

@[ name ] you've got a point on dance as art and there is a range of talent too (basic choreo vs. Complex). My comment was obviously geared toward musicians as artists. People who sing 1/16 of a song, never compose anything, barely good vocals and lipsync all the time. Can't deny the industry is saturated with pretty vases but not many musical artists. PS: dance and music should be balanced. Idols who are great dancers but never sing live is my greatest pet peeve in the industry. Let's not pretend, the MUSIC industry should have great musicians, not dancers who sacrifice music for great moves.

@[ name ] you've got a point on dance as art and there is a range of talent too (basic choreo vs. Complex). My comment was obviously geared toward musicians as artists. People who sing 1/16 of a song, never compose anything, barely good vocals and lipsync all the time. Can't deny the industry is saturated with pretty vases but not many musical artists.
PS: dance and music should be balanced. Idols who are great dancers but never sing live is my greatest pet peeve in the industry. Let's not pretend, the MUSIC industry should have great musicians, not dancers who sacrifice music for great moves.
the idol industry is made up of idols, duh. if you want people who are primarily focused on just the music, then look to the music industry entirely not just a sub-culture of it.

Should we normalize the use of unrealistic standards of backflips and great dance while belting out a power note when we know the human body doesn't work that way and the only way to do it is an autotuned backtrack? What's the point? Is it really because we enjoy music, the dance?..it seems disrespecting and toxic to both art forms. And what is "toxic" about asking these questions? There are highly reputable dance crews and dancers who can do well without singing but what is toxic are fans who impose unrealistic standards on their idols that they can't just dance without pretending to sing with backtracks which then supports the industry in perpetuating this fantasy onto the idols. Fans and the industry who don't let idols shine with their true strength and would rather impose an unhealthy industry practice is toxicity itself. I'll concede that idols should include dancers who can't sign/rap, but let's not continue the lie that they can sing smoothly after a super complex choreo. Let's make dancer idols that don't need to pretend to sing accepted instead that are recognized and respected for this--that would be a much healthier industry that would embrace not needing to sing to become an idol. If a dancer idol wants to grow in singing they can too, but not setting up a inhumanly impossible performances (idols who are good dancers sometimes release covers where they focus on increasing their vocal skills with minimal or no choreo--mad respect to them). Oh well, you seem to disagree with preventing idols from being held to toxic unrealistic standards and find it funny. To each their own I guess.
