watch this, it is also Lithuania ua-cam.com/video/alHDzavAiZs/v-deo.html 💥 2 great bands and 2 songs in one. This is insane :) we have so many young talents
What I love about LT selection the past few years is that it's so out of the box but in a good way every year. Many countries seem to try to replicate whatever was popular 2 years ago while LT seems to be in their own zone enjoying the ride (assuming this wins)
Tavo akys is THE one for Lithuania. There is a lot of Eurovision fans who love Eurovision for this kind of thing (see the comments). And with UK, Ireland and Latvia in semi 2 I’m almost certain it would qualify. No idea how much the juries would actually vote for it in the final but it would be such an amazing addition to the contest. What a song.
Katarsis is totally my vibe, loved it on the first watch! I feel they'll get the same kind of support as Sudden Lights, I just hope they don't get the same fate as them! Baltic Indie rock is just on another level! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
@harrietamidala1691 oh definitely, the UK always sends Lithuania love 😊 diaspora voting aside, I'm sure brits will love this on the song alone! 😊 we love our indie rock here 💖
Listening to "Tavo akys" is a whole new experience. You can feel the pain that oozes from this song, this type of experience doesn't happen that often with most of the songs in National Finals or Eurovision.
Not really my genre, but Katarsis really surprised me, already on one of my most played this month, also its dominating the lithuanian charts i heard ( 2nd in only a few days)
Tavo Akys is my favorite from the entire NF season so far. No kidding, no exagerration. Aija was my personal winner back in 2023 so I'm so happy we got this entry now. Really really hoping they win in Lithuania. Also I have visited their discography already and I have a new band on repeat 😆
"Tavo" which is repeated in the breakdown means "your" (the title "Tavo Akys" means Your Eyes)😊 Speaking of this year's selection, I, too, am really scared about our chances. We've had such a good run this decade but maybe it's just not in our cards this year (hopefully these are just early impressions, as a lithuanian it's been incredible seeing our representatives in the final (not to mention the great results) each year:') and given these circumstances the thought of NQ seems more and more difficult to bear).
I love Tavo Akys soooo much. I was a huge fan of Aijā, it’s in fact my favorite Eurovision song of all time, I thought that we would never get something like this again but I‘m so glad to be wrong. This song feels so much darker and deeper tho, I also listened to a few of Katarsis‘ other songs and they have a slight post-punk touch to them, Tavo Akys as well. I really hope this wins.
Unless there's something way better in Heat 5 (Lithuania my love you're not Sweden let's downsize your nf), pack it up and take the risk with Katarsis. I don't think they've ever really sent anything rock adjacent and this is very fresh for a rock esque song.
Lithuania bringing the melancholia sound this year, I kinda like it, if Tavo Akys wins, it will stand out, but not sure many ESC fans will vote for something like this. If this doesn't win, Lithuania will have a problem. Not sure of this NF format, I feel there is no need for so many semi finals, especially if there is only one real candidate, just like last year.
Katarsis will be such a good option, this is the kind of songs which makes me exited to watch esc. But the staging is kind of messy the lead singer is kind off walking forward and then backwards which seems messy, but it they create a little story this will be top 10.
Thanks to LRT for extending the submission date to allow Katarsis time to put in their song. Otherwise this NF season for Lithuania would be far more dire.
I don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but the juries keep tanking all the competition for katarsis. They've eliminated the other 2 acts with the highest amount of televotes when we have a superfinal. Katarsis said that they're going to better their performance for the final, also Tavo means your, the song is also on the lithuanian top 50 on spotify.
Love the song by Katarsis. I don't get much Radiohead, but it is very shoegaze to my ears. That and Sudden Lights (someone else I loved). But look what happened to them. Do fingers crossed.
Hi, Tom. I'm always excited about your videos cause you give us so many thoughts and insights, thank you for that ❤ I don't have a clear winner for me this year, but both Petunija and Katarsis would be a great option. Next week we'll hear Lion Ceccah, he might be worthy competitor in the national final.
Go on google and write: Eurovision song contest 2025 or Eurovision world. Click it and then go on news, it will say "2 more artists" have qualified to the national final. Then you click that and then you scroll a bit and it will show the results. Katarsis got 24pts, Liepa and Amoralu got 17pts
The comparison with Aija is on point. And there lies my concerns with Katarsis. I think this could be a song that eurofans love, but casuals don't care about. Given how close Sudden Lights came on qualifiying, Kartasis has definitly a chance. But it is not a sure Q. Then again, what in this selection is a sure Q?
I will say 2023 was a much stronger year than 2025 is shaping up to be, so I imagine that in theory they'd have a much easier time qualifying than Aija did! It's also a bit more attention-grabbing than Aija.
Lithuania have Latvia, Ireland and UK in their semifinal voting, that's a minimum 30+ points alone already, id argue they have a chance of qualifying no matter who they send. If they send Katarsis I think they qualify easily. The real question is how they will do in the final if they win in Lithuania. It's a risk worth taking because it will definitely stand out in a final of 26 songs and it's a banger to be proud of, no matter how they do
For Gimlo, Freedom was just completely outclassed by so many other songs in this semi-final >:^/ Didn't really get Tavo Akys at first but it's grown on Gimlo pretty fast, would love to know some Katarsis lore and what they're about 👨🎤🎸
I think there will be, like last year, a superfinal in the final, which is Televote only. Funfact: If they hadn't a superfinal last year, Silverster Belt wouldn't have won, because he got only 10 points from the jury in the regular final, while Shower got the 12. So, in the end I think that Katarsis need just 8 or 10 points of the jury if they can keep the big televoting to advance to the superfinal.
I don't hate Kararsis at all, but I am not seeing what everyone else is screaming about regarding Eurovision winning material (yet). I would like to have it in Eurovision though. So far we haven't had any other rock-like songs, so it would be good for diversity to have in the selection! Oh and obviously, from the Lithuanian NF, this one is clearly the one to win it (unless there's a surprise in the last semi)
I like both songs. I like the atmosphere, I like the voices. Both, though, lack a bit of umpf. I feel they wouldn't need much, just some additional production, some slightly different vocal lines.
Love the comparison of Katarsis to Radiohead and Sudden Lights; those are two of my favorite bands and "Tavo Akys" is one of my favorites of the NF season so far. I just hope it doesn't get Aijā-ed, as it's a great song but I'm not sure if casual fans will get the appeal. Hopefully I'm wrong though!
I'm absolutely obsessed with Joseph June - "Ko man nesakei?" Performance from this heat, would be awesome if you checked it out some time and let me know what you think! ❤️😍🤩 so fun!
I really like "Tavo akys" , I really want to see those kind of songs in esc , I would like it to be less repetitive tho, he sings same thing four times in first... chorus? Would be nice to mix it up a bit aka the line he sings now-new line-the line he sings now -new line , also repetition of "Tavo" is good , but again there's too much of it , I would cut by like a half
Sorry, but TBH the Lithuanian NF system is way too long-dragging (5 semifinals!?) to follow all the way, so I hope you'll react to the Latvian finalists, as I find that NF much more interesting 😉 ETA: I mean no disrespect to Lithuania, will surely check the finalists, when they are all known! (Sadly won't be able to watch that final on Sat, at least not fully, as it unfortunately coincides with UMK 😭 And my own country's NF obviously supercedes all else.)
Amoralu has, as you have noticed, very powerful voice, and yes, the song is nothing. Katarsis is a good band, but this song in particular - for Eurovision is not the best. Lacks melody, or drive, or clearer instruments/guitar rhythm (should stay dark but be more pop). My opinion. If you check their old song below, that would have been the bomb. "Katarsis - Vasarą galvoj minoras"
I really don't agree that the Jury should supersede the televote. First it was "Black Biceps" and now "Liepa". Both are great artists who had great songs this year and did very well with the televote but didn't make it to the final because of the Jury. Not saying that the public knows better than the Jury but it's also important to keep in mind that in the Eurovision semi finals it's televote only so by ignoring the public vote you're kind of shooting yourself in the foot and increasing your chances of not qualifying. However, it's good that Lithuania still has other options and the selection process wasn't completely ruined by the Jury. (at least not yet anyways)
The Jury have saved national selection! I am so thankful they are there in the semifinals. Black Biceps's song bring me a feeling of embarrassment, and Liepa was not better than Katarsis or Amoralu.
Katarsis sounds overrated, they kept losing me in the performance. I bet the music video is what hypes people up, but they just walk around the stage and say a handfull of words. I like their genre, but I'm not sure if Europe will like it so I wouldn't vote for them
Indie music from the Baltics is just something else
watch this, it is also Lithuania ua-cam.com/video/alHDzavAiZs/v-deo.html 💥 2 great bands and 2 songs in one. This is insane :) we have so many young talents

Thank you Tom, we needed some confirmation that we weren't complete lunatics sending such a song to Eurovision :D
no, its definitely a good choice. i just cant guarantee it would qualify, but its worth the risk and it would definitely do well in final
@@ESCTom "Tavo" its a word '"Your" "tavo akyse"="ïn your eyes"
@@ESCTom We have UK, Latvia, Ireland, Georgia in semi, won't be a problem to qualify :)
@@TwoRedPassportsit’s certainly a cushion.
Katarsis really came and saved Lithuanian national selection with this banger 💥
Tom: "Does anyone do indie better than Latvia?"
Lithuania: "And I took that personally..."
just discovered katarsis and wow.. theres really some hidden gems you dont find until the semis. the song is absolutely amazing
tavo akys is so so soooo good. i feel like when indie rock is done right, it’s just so magical.
Can't wait to start following this year eurovision journey of Katarsis with interviews and pre parties. They are so good!
If Katarsis make it to ESC, there's my 20 votes used up.
Tavo akys is THE one for Lithuania. There is a lot of Eurovision fans who love Eurovision for this kind of thing (see the comments). And with UK, Ireland and Latvia in semi 2 I’m almost certain it would qualify.

What a song.
Tavo Akys might become my favourite Eurovision song ever, it has that much potential for me.
Katarsis is a risk, but we're so ready to take it ❤
Katarsis is totally my vibe, loved it on the first watch! I feel they'll get the same kind of support as Sudden Lights, I just hope they don't get the same fate as them! Baltic Indie rock is just on another level! LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!
Unlike Latvia in 2023, Lithuania will be luckier with Ireland and the UK in the same semi final to vote for. Maybe it’s neighbor Latvia too.
@harrietamidala1691 oh definitely, the UK always sends Lithuania love 😊 diaspora voting aside, I'm sure brits will love this on the song alone! 😊 we love our indie rock here 💖
It’s actually wild how many good post punk bands there is in Lithuania.
Listening to "Tavo akys" is a whole new experience. You can feel the pain that oozes from this song, this type of experience doesn't happen that often with most of the songs in National Finals or Eurovision.
Katarsis is a massive song. Immediate, emotional and gripping.
TAVO AKYS FTW 😍🇱🇹
Not really my genre, but Katarsis really surprised me, already on one of my most played this month, also its dominating the lithuanian charts i heard ( 2nd in only a few days)

I absolutely love this song, the performance live is excellent. The musical element reminds me of Mogwai (whom I love)
I had been complaining this whole time, but just when all hope seemed lost, Katarsis appeared like a deus ex machina to save us
"Tavo" which is repeated in the breakdown means "your" (the title "Tavo Akys" means Your Eyes)😊

I feel like Katarsis would barely have people in between, it would be either love or hate.
Unless there's something way better in Heat 5 (Lithuania my love you're not Sweden let's downsize your nf), pack it up and take the risk with Katarsis. I don't think they've ever really sent anything rock adjacent and this is very fresh for a rock esque song.

Danielius, I think it’s safe to say the jury has no way of knowing how the televotes will look in a week..🙂
Love the song by Katarsis. I don't get much Radiohead, but it is very shoegaze to my ears. That and Sudden Lights (someone else I loved). But look what happened to them. Do fingers crossed.

Looks like we might get our dose of indie at eurovision this year even if Latvia chooses a different genre
Thanks Tom. We have the same two favorites, Katarsis and Petunija. What site do you go to for the the point/ vote breakdowns?

Katarsis looks like it's the best one currently however I wouldn't say sure qualifier right now it could also fail to qualify

I just hope it doesn't get Aijā-ed, as it's a great song but I'm not sure if casual fans will get the appeal. Hopefully I'm wrong though!
Lithuania please fix your national final system ❤😭🙏
This would do so well with the juries if they make it into the final! Could see its way to TOP 10 or even higher
Exactly how Sudden Lights would’ve been

Very difficult to see any of those two songs going to the final in esc
I don't see Lithuania qualifying with this. The staging could be improved but the song has no hook.
@@williamdacic maybe you’re just too dumb for alternative music ?
Liepa was robbed, she had 2200 televote (2nd after Amoralu) but still 1400 more than 3rd place, but still came 3rd with as many points as 2nd place.
So much potential but repetitive to an unbearable level.
Katarsis sounds overrated, they kept losing me in the performance. I bet the music video is what hypes people up, but they just walk around the stage and say a handfull of words. I like their genre, but I'm not sure if Europe will like it so I wouldn't vote for them
I totally agree. It's kind an awkward but Amoral should not go to final because Liepa is so much better.
To me it is boring.
yea i think some people are gonna find it that
