I layered it, brushed all the overlap off and burnished it with soft cottonwool but still turned out very patchy. Hi Lalramengmawia. It is call "Gold Leaf" and it is real gold that is made so thin that a slight breeze is enough to rip it. It is applied onto an adhesive coating called "size" and then it has clear coat applied over the gold to protect it.
It's how the gold leaf works. It's really fine and it tears really easily so anywhere there is a bare patch of substraight with adhesive showing the gold will stick to right up to the edge and then any loose leaf that overlaps just breaks off and falls away.
Wait how did you get the gold to like fuse with the helmet before it used to look like a bunch of squares but then you somehow made it seemless did you use water or something because the gold sheets are like really sensitive?

There is an adhesive used to get the gold leaf to stick to the helmet surface.

How much extra weight was put on?
The gold is lighter than a coat of paint on the helmet because it is only 0.18 microns thick.
And how much would it cost to get the helmet covered in gold just like in the video but without any graphics over it?
