I just tried again on a few different apps with both the appstore and APK version in the link. I put my controller in android mode and the mode you used and still nothing.
Does it have R3 L3 buttons? Can you half press triggers? Like giving a small gas in a racing game using triggers?

L2 and R2 seems like analog triggers. you can half press those. I have ipega controllers and they work the same like these models

Got a problem with mine.. I can turn the camera angle right but doesn't turn left as easily. Just like the video..if u notice.. so many movements of the analog stick to even turn left with the camera.. its a good idea but poor design.. there are glitches in the pre setups
A good way of playing with this controller is to put it in arcade mode witch you press X + home button
Then it will work like a ps4 controller in witch case you dont need an app to map it
