Perhaps truck drivers who can't read signs written in English shouldn't be given commercial driver's licenses. That's the part of the story Channel 7 isn't reporting.
There is that famous RR bridge in Durham, North Carolina that has its own web site (can opener). They have tired just about everything including flashing lights, sensors that tell the driver to stop, and a traffic signals. But it never fails, several times a year it shears off the top of a truck. They raised the bridge a few inches but you can only raise a RR track so much. The cam shows every time its hit, lots of rental box trucks and occasionally a 18 wheeler. Undercutting the roadway can't be done without having to move all the utilities and pipes under the roadway.
I’m truck driver lately I’ve seen truck drivers can’t speak English at all especially the ones pulling for Amazon even the ones speak English don’t pay attention to the signs it’s crazy out there.
When these bridges were built they couldn't go any higher since they would be too close to the sky and thus contribute to global warming. Now that we're well into the technological age this is a simple solvable problem. I'm certain that first-year engineering students could figure out a simple non-expensive solution.
Look at all the keyboard warriors 😂 hey you shouldn't smash your car up, stub your toe etc but yet we need insurance and hospitals. Obviously the conditions are favorable or so many people wouldn't hit it, pay attention, how pragmatic yet unrealistic given what we all really are thow in a distraction like not being sure where your going and things stack up.
Maybe measure the clearance level then put a sign saying what it is, then put a detour for commercial vechicles. They trucks probabley don’t see the signs because they don’t use the 290 or 190 .
There were no penalties before? State law needs to be changed to allow faster implementation of new laws. 2026 is a long time from now. 8 points is significant, but need to be large fines against the employer / truck owner too. Commercial drivers should know better. Too many steering wheel holders out there.

I wonder what percent were hired by swift during their career.
That would make too much sense.
Should the DMV give reading test to truck drivers?
Many would fail because they can't read or comprehend English.
How about lowering the road 3 feet.......so trucks can pass

Truck drivers need to read.
They would if they understood English. That's the real issue.
literal garbage cans by the bridge but let's blame the driver for bridges that are getting too old.

So the state decides not to find a solution, but to put the blame on drivers and profit from their mistakes.Nice hustle NY.
Low bridge said the blind man
It wouldn't be that hard for the state to dig down two feet so trucks can go under without a problem.
depends on utilities below along with the grade surrounding the bridge while it can be done in most cases it depends on if the investment is worth it.
Not another can opener bridge. 😟
They should be fined big time no EXCUSES!!!!😩😩😩😩😩😩
How about fixing the bridges height instead of penalizing people! The state don't have engineers to figure this out???
This is really stupid. Kinda like getting hit by a train!

Can opener bridge 2.0
