Hello Semaj. Thanks so much for the question. Well, most Storefront framing systems have been made out of aluminum or even steel since the early 1900s. But, not-withstanding I have seen amazing Wood Frame architectural window systems that are still serving their function wonderfully. So the short answer is Yes, it is possible. Best to always check with your local municipality and enforced building code to see what is allowed.
Knock off the glass stop with a glazing hammer, slightly lift the glass and go all the way into the deep pocket then pull one side of the glass out of the shallow pocket.

Great vid thanks you for sharing. Some doors bind in the bottom of the threshold. can you adjust the door so it can move up a bit to clear the bottom?
Washer shims can be added to the bottom pin hinge to raise the door.
