Hope you enjoy our time together in the garden, my friends. Life is best in the garden. Also, I misspoke. Redwing is my purple storage onion of choice, and Yellow of Parma and Patterson are both yellow storage onions of choice. ALSO, I have a head cold. Which is why I sound weird. The end.

Have you tried the Netti Pot. Its remarkable. I was told water would be my best friend by a pharmacist. Well he was right. For me it's hard to remember to drink water. I get so busy. I will pray for you. Someday we'll not have to worry about Shnoz problems because we'll be with Jesus. Sounds good to me. These noses are overrated.

Hi Shaye...we just purchased a 111 year old house with an old rock wall basement. My husband runs a dehumidifier in the basement. Would onions be OK stored in the basement with a dehumidifier running? Or will it dry the onions out too much?

I'll live vicariously through you this year! My onions didn't do too well. We had such a wet beginning and middle to our growing season this year. Things were stunted and drowned out. I have maybe a half a viable bed and they are all still very small. We'll see what they do by the end of September. Great video! I really enjoy watching your garden harvest/preservation videos!

We don't eat many onions, so I would never try to grow the few I need. None the less, I found myself watching your video and enjoying every minute. It was informative and so well done. Your braids turned those onions into objects of beauty. Seeing them all lined up on the table waiting for storage was a joy.

Hello from Germany! First of all: I just love (all) your videos! So many useful tips! I just harvested my (very few) onions and your seeing you braid yours so beautifully made my heart happy! My grandma taught me the same !!! I just braid the twine at the end for a couple of inches in the strand, so that when they dry, the whole braid just holds better together…
I don’t have a root cellar, they hang in my garage and look pretty throughout the winter days!

We store our onions like this. Get panty hose. Cut a leg off. Drop 1 onion in and push it all the way to the toe. Then tie a knot and drop another in. Keep doing that until leg is full. Tie a ending know and add a string and hang them in you basement or cellar floor juices. They will keep the whole winter. When you need a onion go down and at toe cut below the knot and you get a onion. Its simple and doesn't take up a whole lot of space. Happy Gardening

I wish I had the space to plant 800 onions, we only have enough for about 120 and 50 garlic. But it means we cover maybe a 1/3 of a year. Which is enough. I love the french plait idea, I was going to store them in a box. But the kids love little odd jobs in the garden, and I think my two girls 3 and 6, would have a great old time twisting them together.

We live just over the mountains in Seattle. This weekend my wife and I visited with some friends here in town, who were in the tri-cities area last week, and they brought back some Walla-Walla sweet onions for us (they got a new kitty). I understand some farmers over there lost their onion crop due to the excessive heat wave we had in the last month. I guess we have another heat wave coming in a couple days; am looking at my garden and hoping everything makes it. Cheers.

I had to giggle... when you got up to get off the tractor, the camera went down and it made it look like the tractor was being relieved of its weight in a dramatic way!😄
I'm definitely going to try your cluster trick next year!
