Thank you girls for watching and reacting to the video from my home country. And it makes me happy that you like it. Austria is a really pretty country with good food, lots of culture and alot of hikes ("spazieren gehen").
Ich zieh nach Bayern, wenn ich in Pension gehe und Gras dann noch immer nicht legalisiert wurde. Chliches, chliches, chliches. He does only very shortly mention Austrias big focus on industries and the vivid academic life. Graz, the second biggest city, has 5 universities plus 2 universities for applied science, for instance.
Just a little fun fact about the green lake: The benches there are only under water by summer time when the glacier melts a bit down and the water level rises. In winter, the lake is nearly gone and you can actually sit on these benches and go over this small bridge. Greetings form Austria!
7:58 Fun fact: due to the first discernible word meaning 'black' in [Austrian-]German and the n-word also sounding similar in German, you could literally just replace a 'g' with an 'r' and move it in front of the 'n' to get "⬛[n-word]". ☠
Austrian (born and living here all my live) here. 1. Yes... 40 kilometers is enough to get people with a different dialect. And it can get so bad in our little country that I, when I was working customer support) had to talk in englisch with a tyroler because I could not, for the life of me, understand him speaking german in his dialect. I love my country. 2. Sorry for both world wars. That was on us. 3. Austria, through its company Glock Ges.m.b.H., is a world leader in the production of Glock pistols. Glock, founded by Gaston Glock in 1963, became internationally renowned So... yes, we are producing the weapons you americans and pretty much every police force uses. We make the weapons you police uses to shoot you XD Ah... sweet Austria. Alps, Skiing, Sweets, Mozart as well as Hitler, Starter of 2 World Wars and World producers of pistols. Sometimes I am realy proud of my country
Austria avoided being split up, like Germany, by staying neutral. I don't know, how that deal was made, but our politicians back than where way smarter than nowadays influencer type politicians.
There's a lot of weird stuff in this video (it usually is, since people most of the time are just explaining the mentality of the Austrians living in Vienna, which is very different from what the rest of Austria is like), but the demographics part is just plain wrong at times. Austrians are not hellbent on people using every single fucking title we have when they're addressing us verbally. We just use a title that fits the context, so we would call a dentist "Herr" or "Frau Doktor" (Mr. or Mrs. Doctor). The thing about titles in Austria is just that they open so many doors for you in terms of networking or job opportunities. If you have a rather high-ranking or even an honorary title, you can get high-paid jobs without knowing jackshit about the tasks you're supposed to do there. Sometimes they pick the least qualified person and make him or her the boss of 100 people who know 10 times as much about the job compared to him just because this person has a title, while the others do not. Also, the "taking simple walks" thing is definately more a German thing. In Austria we like to go "Wandern", which is a more complicated kind of walk. :
Fellow austrian here its an academic thing, before the system we have know in universities we had other titles that were given when completing your studies. For example the "Master" was called "Magister". Every person with the magister title i have met in my life wanted to be called "Herr Magister" I even know a dude with 2 "magister" titles and he like to be called as "Herr Magister magister" and then his name. Of course once you have a personal relationship with someone this does not apply anymore.
Until before this vid, you two didn't even know where Austria was or exchanged it with Australia. But now let the astonished hobby geographer hang out. Exactly my sense of humor 😁...
wow you two are amazing Beutiful i am from Austria if you really want to see grade things of Austria You need to see Salzburg it have Hallstadt and The greatest Ice cave of the world
Austrians are generally kind but reserved people. So if you go there don’t expect them to be like best friends after 10 minutes. Take it as a healthy distance one needs to overcome first.
Soas an upper-austrian something bugs me here - this is not what realationships are like here(or probably anywhere else in the world). Christoph Waltz once said in an interview "Austrians are very polite, but they don't mean it". - which is very accurate if we are interacting with strangers. With friends its similar just that with friends we are rather impolite but, we don't mean it. But it's doesn't make it a love-hate relationship because I love those stupid weirdos I call friends. Although, of course, it's basically impossible to define a whole countries realationship-model, but it's definetly not what he said^^
Don't watch Videos about our country. Come on a visit for two weeks and you will see the beauty of our country and feel the vibe of Austrian hospitality. ( As long, as you're not German... Personal thing)

you wonder why the Austrians don't want to be called German? Question for you: "Do you want to be called English?"
