Sir, You are a Great Teacher. It took your just two videos to understand the whole idea of the Voids in CCP and BCC Structures. Sir is a Great Teacher. One of the Best.
Sir actually the number of tetrahedral and octahedral voids in HCP unit cell [4 and 2 respectively] . HCP fallow the ABABABA close packing how they form Octahedral void ?
Consider an A and a B layer. Focus around a common C site. Around this C site there are three atoms in the A layer and three in the B layer. These 6 atoms define an octahedral void.
Sir, as there is a octahedral void on each edge centre of a CCP crystal, is it that the corner atoms donot touch each other in an ideal CCP crystal? In other geometrical derivations it is considered that atoms are touching along the unit cell edge.

Thanks a lot sir , great job!! (from Sri Lanka)
Very deep concept..... No where found in internet
Excellent concepts.
Best handwriting and diagrams across all lectures of nptel
Thanks prof. Can you suggested a book for material science for UG level.

Hello sir .I have one doubt .whether interstitial sites and voids are the same meaning ?
Voids act as interstitial sites.
30:30 ..how atoms are arranged in square...explain?
So you are asking how we get square based bipyramid from triangular anti prism ?
@@lostsoul6987 yes sir
Two triangles of bottom and two triangles of top forms a slant square
Sir..I ask a question for you. How are you choose no of atoms in the unit cell is 4?sir please explain.
@R.K Raj Sir It's not that no of atoms in the unit cell are 4, since a tetrahedral void is present between 4 atoms it's taken like that...
(1/8 * 8 corner atoms) + (1/2 * 6 face centered atoms) = (1+3) = 4 atoms
You are famous on Quora ,for such a types of questions
Amazing.... 🙏🙏🙏
Sir niche kya likhte hn smjh ni ata
thank you sir
But sir size of the void should be defined on the basis of diameter na sir?????why we are defining on the basis of radius???
Well, size is a little vague term. Better to use radius or diameter as the case may be. Either can be used to give an idea of the size.
What is your Salary sir in IIT Delhi
Sir , u r vry slow!!🙄
Not everyone is a fast learner. Use the speed control function in the UA-cam player settings and set it to 2x.
