- In this video I take you through the process of removing star halos in PixInsight and in Photoshop.
I know I said I'd add the formula for PixelMath, but UA-cam doesn't allow brackets in the description. Please copy and paste from my first comment in the comments below.

Thanks Joe. Ive been looking for the answer to halos for some time now. Works great
Thanks Richard! Glad it’s helping.
Oh boy! Filters must have been produced somewhere up there in garage.
Thanks for the tip on star flare mgmt. works like a charm!
Thanks so much, I'm glad it was helpful!
Great tip! I’m definitely going to try this on some of my images
Thanks Michael, I hope it works for you!
excellent method for removing halos, worked a treat. to protect the star from any colour adjustment, I found that subtracting a starmask from the halo mask helps protect any stars within the halo area when making a histogram adjustment
Thanks Jon, yeah you could absolutely take it further, remove the stars, make adjustments and corrections and add the stars back after. Great tip!
Thanks a mil mate, works like a charm!
Thanks Adriano, glad it was helpful!
You can also create masks using the GAME script. Enjoying your channel. Tim
Thanks Tim, since I made that video, I’ve also been using Starnet to remove the stars and then using color masks to remove some halos as well. I haven’t used the Game script, so I’ll check that out as well. Maybe I’ll do a follow up with more ways to remove or reduce halos.
Good tips
Glad it was helpful!
