The first book sold around 50k copies and EJ expected the second book to sell the same, and it's likely that he had the same number of books printed. He likely was left with somewhere around 20,000 unsold copies.

re the printing: I do know a creator who can predict how many books he needs for each campaign and orders them before launch., but he's run 22 campaign and does 3-4 campaigns a year. July's 'crowdfund' ran for more than 2 months. He could have ordered 10k of cover A.B. and D and had plenty of time to order more books if necessary before the sale was over.

I was wondering why Eric July had a second donation round to fund his comic since he made a couple million off the first one. He blew it all on dumb shit. Yeah I unfortunately have seen this a lot lately. There is a huge political aspect to this whole deal and many creators get into this... I have seen people review cyberfrog and several people have outright stated that it isn't a good book, but that a chunk of people are just supporting for the "culture war" aspect. That's really unfortunate because it diminishes the art form and boils it down to who's team you are on, rather than storytelling and artistic merit. I hope that after the upcoming election nature begins to heal. Im so tired of it all 😩

That's quite impressive for an indie comic book company in a dying industry. $2 million sales were for the hype. A million is customer retention. The packing, the artwork, and the quality are above industry standards. The only thing that needs to improve is the writing and the story. If they strengthened the writing, they'll be ten for ten.
