Q&A Friday: thank you for having answered me. I kinda mixed up things in my question and i have to riformulate. I noticed indeed that it is possible to keep using "as soon as" in indirect speech. the only thing that i find confusing are the verb tenses used in the two options: "as soon as she CLOSED her eyes, she FELL asleep" as opposed to this (same exact meaning) "no sooner HAD she CLOSED her eyes than she FELL asleep". the option with "no sooner" requires the first action to happen before the second one, with "as soon as" they must have the same inflection. Don't they?
