Nursing should be an apprenticeship and not a university degree. Learn on the job from the beginning, bedpans onward. More caring people would be encouraged into the system. University degree should be an extension for those who want to progress to more complicated positions within the medical side of the profession. Nursing begins as caring for those who are unwell.
Absolutely agree with your comment. I am a hospital based trained nurse. Straight from school. Lived in the nurses home and I was paid to train White uniforms,caps, strict dress code. Best, most wonderful time of my life. Still have my nursing friends from 1980!😂 The worse thing they ever did, was stop hospital based nursing training. Of course,this is just my opinion.😀

My friend's daughter, after a few careers and training, decided in her mid to late 40's that she wanted to become a nurse. First term(Last Autumn) began with 2 days in Uni and 1 via Zoom(or other such). Mostly this all ended up being cancelled. Then this term she was supposed to have a work placement, but that was scheduled to take place online! What? She gave up and went back to her last career. How can you train nurses properly that way? I trained back in the late 60's and most of it was on the wards. Even if they need more academic study these days, most training should be on the wards.
EXACTLY…I agree 100%….learn on the job….For the past 20 years too much emphasis has been put on university degrees , which for the most part are Mickey Mouse degrees which are of no use in the work force…7 years ago I ( female , 70 at the time) was in hospital …a few hours after major surgery…I was told by a young g nurse to go to the bathroom, I told her that I wanted a catheter for next 24 hours…she didn’t even know what it was…I told her to go find an old nurse who turned out to be about 50 ,she did the job in 2 minutes….Same thing with ear syringes….young nurses don’t know how to do it…APPRENTICESHIPS & trades should be emphasized in schools …young people need hands on skills that can be taken into the workforce….especially now…This generation since the early 2000s ,when the emphasis on reading & writing was devalued & for the the most part ,students from kindergarten to grade 12 have had access to smart phone “information “ 24 /7….This information hits the brain for a minute period of time then exits…without any wisdom having been aquired…The emphasis on reading books & writing by hand is desperately needed to be brought back into schools …so that knowledge can be retained…IMO 🇨🇦✝️🇬🇧

A march of mostly Muslim immigrants complaining about Israel, a country founded by the mass immigration of Jews to Palestine in the early 20th Century. I'm Jewish and I would have no problem with the UK starting to take a tough line on Israel as long as we also took a tough line on the invasion of this country my unwanted migration.

I love your show. How do we bring Christianity back into our lives. I'm a retired emergency nurse practitioner the NHS is a real mess. We put so much money into it and it performs poorly. I trained in the military when i joined the NHS 80s it was bad when 8 left 2021 it was diabolical. Every budget rise gives another layer of management . When I retired I was out numbered by admin staff. Now non clinical.now out number clinical staff. The elephant in the room is mass uncontrolled immigration they are really demanding my ex colleagues are finding the hardest to treat at the moment are the Ukrainians and the middle eastern people. As a Catholic I always had the option of not being involved in an abortion. But as an ENP I've prescribed morning after pill it's emotive and I know NHS staff do have choices
We need to bring back teaching Christianity in schools. This is a Christian country. I am happy to live alongside those of the Muslim faith, but only Christianity should be taught in schools in a Christian country. I am happy for them to worship their faith without persecution, but Christianity is the faith in Britain and should reign supreme.

Alison Pearson is totally correct. I am basically having to diagnose myself, find the cause and treat that because all my GP and the NHS want to do is put me on ever more medications. All of which have side effects and contra-indications. They are stuck on treating the symptoms rather than finding the cause of an illness and curing it.

We need to bring back Section 28 in schools which was repealed by Blair in 2003. It banned the promotion of homosexuality and other forms of sexual deviance in schools and it protected a generation of kids from the type of abuse we are seeing now.

Thatcher brought it Section 28 and it was always controversial and heavily opposed by what was then called the "Gay Liberation" movement ( headed by activists) like Peter Tatchell. Once Labour got into power they did all they could to remove traditional family values from our institutions. Sadly the "Conservatives " who got in in 2010 went even further and brought it atrocities like "gay marriage" and compulsary sex education ( or indoctrination in degeneracy).

Since it has been removed, not only have homosexual relationships being promoted as being equally valid as heterosexual ones (they are not), we have also seen all kinds of harmful and deviant lifestyles being encouraged (polyamory, transgenderism, S&M, kink etc). Heterosexual marriage is the bedrock of a sucessful society and therefore it should have a higher status. All the evidence shows that children fare best within the structured of monogamous heterosexual marriage. Homosexuals are invariably more promiscuous and their relationships less stable. Hence homosexual relationships are far less suited to the raising of children. Additionally a child needs both male and female nurturing to develop into a balanced and happy adult, this is obviously harder to provide in a same sex marriage

I am the child of a rape baby, my mother’s mother (Mabel) was the victim of a violent stranger rape. Mabel was not able to raise my mother, so she was adopted by a near relative. Mabel named my mother Dorothy, meaning Gift of God. Dorothy was a gift to her adoptive parents, she was a gift to my dad ( also a child of an inconvenient birth) she was a gift to her children and grandchildren. Dorothy was a gift to her church and to her community, civically and spiritually. Dorothy was a gift to the women prisoners that she ministered to 50+ years. Lawrence. When trying to bring a discussion about between 4 girls I was pulled aside several days after and told I was not there to give an opinion. I was asked if I thought the Muslim headgwear should be banned? I said, if I went to a Muslim country, I would cover my arms and follow their expectations and that it was not part of British culture for a woman to cover her hair. One of the group was Muslim and I was called a racist to another member of staff. This happened 10 years ago. This state of affairs has been going on far longer than the majority realise.

I don't deal with NHS anymore. I have lifetime of neglect at their incompetent hands. Nearly died when I was three because the family GP couldn't identify basic appendicitis even after weeks of symptoms. He kept sending my poor parents home saying it was a bug probably. So I vomited and cried in agony for three weeks, appendix eventually burst, flown to Aberdeen for emergency surgery. Lost ten of my teeth from all the vomiting. I was lucky to make it but have trauma issues as result. The less said about my dealings with GP's through my later life the better. My Dad told me a story about his uncle. When he was getting a medical check before joining the Navy, (probably 1930s), he was standing in a room with all the other boys joining up. The doctor walked into the room and looked at my uncle, examined his eyes and said 'You have appendicitis', and was immediately treated for it. The doctor diagnosed it just looking at him. If I had the choice between a doctor from back then and a doc from now, I'd grab the olden days doctor by the lapels and beg him to teach these clowns some medicine.
Well I’m glad you can afford to “ not deal with the NHS “ anymore. Some of us are bloody grateful for the NHS …I’m Hypothyroid all my life and I couldn’t afford the medication..my mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer and she had fantastic care … 🤨🇬🇧🏴

I am the child of a rape baby, my mother’s mother (Mabel) was the victim of a violent stranger rape. Mabel was not able to raise my mother, so she was adopted by a near relative. Mabel named my mother Dorothy, meaning Gift of God. Dorothy was a gift to her adoptive parents, she was a gift to my dad ( also a child of an inconvenient birth) she was a gift to her children and grandchildren. Dorothy was a gift to her church and to her community, civically and spiritually. Dorothy was a gift to the women prisoners that she ministered to 50+ years. Just think, if Mabel had sought an abortion we and the world would have been bereft of such a wonderful Gift! Thank you Mabel, you are my hero!

Lawrence. When trying to bring a discussion about between 4 girls I was pulled aside several days after and told I was not there to give an opinion.
I was asked if I thought the Muslim headgwear should be banned? I said, if I went to a Muslim country, I would cover my arms and follow their expectations and that it was not part of British culture for a woman to cover her hair.
One of the group was Muslim and I was called a racist to another member of staff. This happened 10 years ago. This state of affairs has been going on far longer than the majority realise.

When we, my husband and I, gave my son his mobile phone (he is only 10), we said it is our phone that he is allowed to use. This way, he knows it is our property, and we can have access to it and monitor it anytime. It has worked well, so far.

That's what they told you, but actually you paid the pensions of those who retired before you. It's a pyramid scheme. The money that young people are paying in national insurance right now will not be given back to them when they retire.
Yes, was surprised to hear that comment about pensions. I guess ppl who were not there at the time, seldom realise what they are saying. This idea that ppl should be punished for having a deduction from their pay (graduated pension et al) as stated to be for their pension, is insulting and a fraud. It is the government who failed to manage it, not the ppl.

Father Calvin, I worked in the ME and became very close with a highly educated, Coptic Christian from Egypt. She told me what M's do to them, it was heartbreaking, r'ing young girls so their babies were from M bloodline, raiding churches etc, pure terror ism and nothing reported.
They are not protected, and many leave Egypt. There's a reason why Pales tin ian Christians feel safer living in Is raell and don't move to Plastecine to live.

I don't deal with NHS anymore. I have lifetime of neglect at their incompetent hands. Nearly died when I was three because the family GP couldn't identify basic appendicitis even after weeks of symptoms. He kept sending my poor parents home saying it was a bug probably. So I vomited and cried in agony for three weeks, appendix eventually burst, flown to Aberdeen for emergency surgery. Lost ten of my teeth from all the vomiting. I was lucky to make it but have trauma issues as result. The less said about my dealings with GP's through my later life the better.
My Dad told me a story about his uncle. When he was getting a medical check before joining the Navy, (probably 1930s), he was standing in a room with all the other boys joining up. The doctor walked into the room and looked at my uncle, examined his eyes and said 'You have appendicitis', and was immediately treated for it. The doctor diagnosed it just looking at him. If I had the choice between a doctor from back then and a doc from now, I'd grab the olden days doctor by the lapels and beg him to teach these clowns some medicine.
Well I’m glad you can afford to “ not deal with the NHS “ anymore. Some of us are bloody grateful for the NHS …I’m Hypothyroid all my life and I couldn’t afford the medication..my mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer and she had fantastic care …

As a Protestant American it’s heartening to hear Calvin articulate biblical theology soundly and steadfast. We need more shepherds being this outspoken and Christlike in the west.
