  • GBRf Class 60 No's 60021 & 60002 are seen here struggling to depart GB872 working the 6E17 Liverpool Biomass Terminal - Drax Aes on the 23rd October 2021. Cheers to the driver for the tone & thumbs up. Due to Engineers works in the Rochdale most of the Biomass Trains are being diverted via Guide Bridge for the next couple of weeks.

    Sounded like only the front engine was actually doing the work there. Those class 60s are powerful!

    So much power output from a class 60 they are quite capable of ripping a coupling out in the right conditions. They certainly did during their testing phase when newly built.

      Yeah a few drivers we know have told us stories about Tugs doing just that, they're still extremely powerful locos.

      To be honest. The Class 60 is very much the UK version of the GE Dash 8 in terms of its power.

      The couplings must be very weak then as this is not a particularly powerful locomotive.

    Is that a case of dragging brakes?
    The 60 got that consist moving but it seemed something was not quite right.

      2400 tons is nothing for a 60. They were designed to be able to start a 4000 ton train

    Just seen a Class 66 YT video with a similar title. The 66 didn't struggle either but it does get more clicks. Got to admit I am more motivated to watch if a difficult start. But if you like freight the title is no big deal. Good video.

    Doing what they were built to do

  • @charlie8562
    @charlie8562 4 місяці тому

    That is definitely not struggling, 002 has just broken down but its not unusual for a class 60. You see smoke only coming out the front. If you drive freight you wont want to pull off too fast anyway

    Superb only the one on power 2400 plus the other 60 on the incline once going he got to traction he was very quickly moving away

    If you were fully laden with 2400 tons behind you, you would not snatch at it.
