Rikki isn't just a drummer. He's a multi dimensional being with hidden gems in his talks. Cool little tidbits.
I enjoyed the video! I did break the linkage between the chain and pedal board on my 7000 pedal but that was after 10 years and hundreds of gigs. I repaired it and now it's my backup pedal.
OK. Nevermind. I'm excited that you are doing BETTER. Sir 👍👍👍👍
Love too see every day carry!
Love your drum video
This is great! Excitement on the highest level.
Best drummer ever hands down
You are a legend Rikki
Yes on a EDC video and great unboxing video!
Loving the kit Rikki and love the band
Awesome video Rikki
Great video!!!
Awesome dude!
I'm glad you got your stuff.
My grandpa bought my first professional pedal, it was a 5000. That thing was what I would call a swiss army knife of pedals it never let me down. I recently purchased a 9000 and was afraid of how smooth it was but I got use to it and now it's my favorite of the dw pedal line.
So excited to see the show in 2022- been waiting since 2020 🖤⚡️🖤
Beautiful!🤘🙏
Aww Rikki..you are an awesome dude. Keep me cracking up 😉
Just found your channel. Knife nerd over here too.
Brother ,,, DW hardware is simply the Best ... I have been playing a DW 9000 double pedal for around 15 yrs now and it still feels as smooth as the day i bought it ....
Great video, please post an EDC video. Always enjoy watching to see what others carry with them on a daily basis.
Vidoes for multi tools would be cool. Just what you’re carrying and using and why. 👍👍
I Love my DW DRUMS ❤❤❤
Really enjoy your videos as they are very practical . . . I played a 5000 pedal for years . . . moved to a Demon Drive Direct and took me a long time to adapt. Ergonomics really matter!!
My single chain drive DW5000 kick pedals have been holding up for 30yrs! Love 'em. Tho I do use a Yamaha double pedal when I'm using a single bass drum
We’ve all had simmer down Rikki. Lol Nothing to be embarrassed about.
Im a DW 5000 pedal fan too Rikki, love the channel
Awesome 👋💀👍
True story: I broke small bones in my foot before I broke a DW pedal. Those things are solid. Something had to give, I was stomping hard. It wasn't the pedal. If anyone breaks one of those, they must have a solid log for a foot. And the head broke all the time until I found an Evans head that didn't give in, either. But that's more about bouncing back than impact.
Really like your vids Rikki , I have used a first generation DW 5000 single chain drive pedal for over 25yrs ive had to replace the hinge on the heal of the pedal a couple of times and thats it.
I forgot to say I do use DW pedals. I use the 9000 single and a two leg 9000 high hat stand.
Dave Huffman
Love to hear what you have to say about knives. I am working on starting a sharpening shop. I collect and restore vintage straight razors.!
Dave Huffman
Heello.Wow!epic channel!!;)
Stay safe out there and much love to you and your beautiful family ❤️🙏 keep Rocking
Tech lock is the tilter, sir
Houston tour 😉
Never seen or even heard of (until now) of anyone cracking a pedal down the middle! I've always been easier on equipment and let the microphones do the "heavy lifting". Especially with playing double bass/kick. Keep on rockin' brother!
🤘🏼🥁🤘🏼
Never broke a 5000 pedal, it's my backup now. I have however broken the cam on my primary 9000 master, and I don't hit very hard. There was an issue with the casting and DW was great about replacing it.
Do the legs on the 5000 series hi-hat hardware, pivot…like they do on the 9000 series.
Typically you can turn and/or change the position of the legs by 10 degrees left or right.
My dream kit is a Custom DW
You’re videos are great Rikki!
Great tone on that kit! Thanks for sharing!
😈🤙🎶
You should do video of all of your kits through the years. You've had a lot of unique kits and they are like a mystery lol where did they all go?
I’m all Gibraltar rack and DW 9000 pedals
I had my DW Accelerators for 18 years. Never even bro the chain.
such a cool dude......
I’ve seen it once… on a pearl pedal. But I think the casting of the plate was crooked or it was mounted incorrectly… which made the food plate kind of twisted…🤷🏻♂️ and after a decade of stomping in it. It kinda cracked in the middle. 🤷🏻♂️🤯🫣
still have my 5000 turbo single chain i got new in 1993 and never broke anything on it.
This was my first drum gear/gear unboxing of any kind and it was fantastic! Thank you for explaining things even when most drummers already know them because some of us are very very new (raises hand). I learned a lot and enjoyed this video and look forward to watching the rest. Much Respect!
Clicked on your channel for badass drumming, subscribed to a channel full of badass shit not about drumming… You’re an interesting dude.
Nice
Love your videos Rikki, I play DW drums too! Word of advise, get the trick after market linkage bar for the 5000 double pedals. You will thank me later.
soooo fukin amazing!!!! fukin amazing brother! thank you!
Big fan of the aquariun response 2 heads on the toms like to see you do a vid on the heads you use on your drums
Thanks for the video! Glad to see your doing well! And yes I have to agree! The DW 5000 double kick totally rocks! I love the that I have! And have had it for some time! Take care and Rock on!
Ryobi makes a GREAT DRIVER slow is what i like not alot of torque 🤘🤘🤘
Hi mr. Rockett. You mentioned on the vid about some pedals DW Don Lombardi showed you. Have you done some product testing for them? A vid of your history in drum fabrication and products you have been in to. Some history of DW pedals and any prototypes etc.?? Do you have any left?
Have an Iron cobra from the 1980s that I acquired in 2008. Never cracked it. Because of its age it has some looseness in different spots and the chain is rusting. But it still delivers a hard hit with out slamming it threw the head. I only paid $50 for it. Best 50 bucks I ever spent. It has served me well and still serves. I have bought updated parts here and there to keep it alive. I agree with you in that if we take care of our gear. It will continue to serve us back. With rusty chains I wouldn’t take it gigging but it would work as a back up.
👍
Hey Rikki. You may have mentioned....but what happened to your kit from "nothin but a good time?". That was sweet
Rikki, do you think it's better to use mic stands rather than clip on mic holders on the rims? I think I'm getting a weird overtones from my toms with clip on mics.
Rikki I am really enjoying your unboxing videos and listening to your take on why you choose the equipment you have. Keep those vids coming!!!
Never broke a drum pedal and I have DW 7000 double pedal
Chrome is classic
Nice outro.
Great unboxing, can’t wait to see you guys in Arlington in a couple of weeks! BTW I prefer DW5000’s as well. #rockon
In my 40 year Police career I have seen hundreds of drummers live and you were one of the greatest performers I had ever seen. And still going 👍👍👍👍👍🚓🚓🚓🚓🚓🚓🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
I wish I could afford a nice drum set
Awesome Set you Have There,Chrome's Good,Looks Amazing,Glad you Said That About Hitting Hard isnt Needed For Certain Drummers...I've Told People that..I Dont Play but use your Videos as a Check this out Kinda Thing...Stay Safe..Keep Rockin 🤘🖤👊
Its called dynamics and some drummers dont have it. They think by playing the hardest makes them better. I play all percussion and it is very important to serve the piece of music whether your playing classics, jazz, funk and or even rock music.
Im a dw guy...great vid Rikki
Awesome videos thanks for sharing. I am a retired police officer in Baltimore. I did security for poison when you came to town. You were so kind and thanked me after the show and when you found out I was a drummer you gave me a set of johnnyBB drumsticks with your name on them and a number 68. I still have them. Keep on rock.
Are you friends with any of the guys you are going on tour with? Love to see some special guests on your channel. That being said , your channel is great !!
Need some lighting when you're videoing inside. Your fan base is older too. (And blinder).
Do you have the “DW true-pitch” rods on your hoops?
I saw the unboxing vid of the drums. You mentioned you were only doing one kick drum as opposed to your usual two due to the sake of breakdown time and changing band sets. I guess I don't get it because it will be an actual stadium show with a bigger stage and the band looking smaller to a lot of fans and you go with a smaller drum kit. One extra drum can't take that long to move off stage with the size of the stadium production. Just my opinion. I still love you and Poison and will be at the show.
🇧🇷🇧🇷🤝🤘
Here's a question for you Rikki, what happened to all the previous kits from way back, like from the music videos to the past tour kits?
@@RikkiRockettsLegendTripping they found another variant hopefully that doesn’t mean stadium tour postponed again
I know it would be a lot of work but having a video of them would be awesome!
Oh okay, I figured you sold them or put them in a rock n roll museum.
How to get that “welcome kit”??
♥️♥️♥️
I agree Rikki, DW 5000 pedals for the win! I tried the 9000's and they just weren't for me. The 9000 Series hardware is excellent as well. I'd love to see videos on the knives.
9000 pedals are a DREAM! I use both the 5000 and 9000 but I prefer the ultra smoothness of the 9000. Im getting a Trick double pedal soon to have something different. And FYI a Trick double can be converted to TWO single pedals which is something DW, Tama and all the major drum companies should be doing with all their doubles pedals.
Yes would love to see some Knife videos from you Rikki. I have a lot of different style knives but so far my favorite carry on my hip knife is my BUCK Knife with Leather Sheath. It is razor sharp and the sheath rests on my right hip so perfectly and comfortably I rarely leave home without it. What is your favorite knife to keep on your hip ?
I’d love to see some videos on knives and tools. Spread your knowledge Rikki. I own 4 DW 5000 pedals and I NEVER broke or damaged anything on those pedals. The only damage was done by someone else to a driveshaft when I let them borrow my 5000 double. I learned my lesson.
nice weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I wonder if the stadium tour is actually going to happen. I would have rather seen a Poison headline tour or at least co headline w/ DL tour. I'm sorry but Crue isn't what they once were and they certainly don't justify the price of tix. Only good thing about the Stadium tour is Poison will be the best and most consistent every night, but they're not getting a full time slot. It's more of an openers time slot. Which sucks. I hope Poison does get back out on their own soon with maybe a tour like they did in 00 and 2000. Have like a few bands come out w/ them. Like LA Guns, Stryper, Tesla as an example. That would be so much fun.
i had a dw 5999 single pedal arond 25 to 30years ago that i had packed up, or thought i had packed up , on my way to a gig. turns out i had left it on my car roof and didn't know it. well i started to drive to the show with the pedal on the car roof. so after driving about 500 to 1000 feat down the road. and i hear boom boom boom and come to my dw 5000 pedal had fallen off the car roof and hit the street, so i stopped the car and walked over to it and loaded the pedal in the car and went to the gig and used the pedal no problem. safe to say dw 5000 pedals and there other pedals and hardware are built like tanks. never had a problem with dw pedals and hardware. they're completely professional and will always help you sound and play great.
Any hardware is good.... 🙃👌👌👌😈
DW for life !!!!!
Collectors Series and all 9000 series hardware / pedals owner since 2007 ( and the airlift throne bicycle)
Rikki - I remember seeing that you & Jason Bonham were some of the 1st to endorse Drum Workshop waaayyyy back in the day!! They are the Bentley of drum companies. Love your videos brother !!!!!
to break a pedal??? OMG!! never never never
Great pedals but DWs beaters are to heavy
Rikki, this Rocks dude! Keep Rockin' it hard! I'm same as you man on hardware, 5000 chain pedals and 9000 hardware. Actually I have a 9000 in my car right now, also a clamp, about to go get them set up. Need to get that 5000 Hi-Hat stand, I've also wondered 3 leg/2 leg, thinking 3. Rock on dude! 🤘🥁🤘DC
Two things: yes on a EDC video. Also, it’s so easy to think I need the newest most expensive pedal and then I’m ready to really kill it! It was refreshing to hear a professional that has tested all levels of said brand that for him the middle of the line is more than sufficient. Thank you Rikki for the video!
EDC Glock 19
Great channel! Ive been using the same dw 5000 series pedals for 20 years, haven’t broke them yet, and I’ve played pop to punk with them. Love my DW hardware!
Wait a minute i thought DW was all made in USA even Hardware
any DW hardware is great!! I use 3000 a little lighter too much stuff to carry haha and they are awesome. same durability as a 9000.
Beautiful kit and hardware! Doing an EDC video would be really cool, please do one!!
I've been running the same DW5000 series, single chain ( 🙁 ) double kick pedal for decades (crap I'm old). Only problem I've ever had was done on the screws securing the heel "pad" to the platform came loose. It was at rehearsal, so no biggie.
The chrome looks good, i would try green taping the black hardware in a swirl pattern.. but You could also green sparkle tape your chrome to match the kit. I also agree on Hitting too hard, drums have a peak volume whether you hit it sitting or jump from a 4 foot ladder it won't get any louder.. Charlie Watts is always my go to for Volume.. Stones played stadiums and charlie never changed his style. Mic's make drums louder
DW Drums. My source of inspiration even for Photography. YES.
