  • 2 hrs 10 mins - 3 closing matches in Valley Forge. Players are Varner; Sigel; Harriman; Wetch. Expert Buddy Hall commentary. All 3 matches thoroughly riveting. Danny Harriman, age 21, is immensely talented; Jimmy Wetch age 25 fast & smooth. Both “youngsters” fearless against the veteran pros.

Harriman and Sigel have such silky cueing. And Sigel almost always plays with solid authority. All these guys here were a joy to watch.

I've said it before but yours is the best pool channel on yt by far - all these great players and matches from the late 80s and 90s that are themselves a link to the '70s generation that would otherwise be lost to time - an irreplaceable resource to younger & developing players. you've done a real service to the game here and it's great to have this stuff freely available

Once again, thank you for your kind appreciative words re: my archiving/historian efforts related to our mutually beloved sport, Bryan. I was on camera in a (blue-green shirt) in this video every time they panned the front row of the left-side audience, having traveled down to Valley forge, PA from my then-New England home to see this tournament in-person. Danny Harriman impressed everyone with this creditable first-major-tournament appearance. Btw, Bryan I still recall your cleverness 8 months ago on one of my other videos when you made your very clever allusion to Efren's amazing banking and kicking skills (via your capitalized "N" ending -- spelling his first name as EfreN). Other viewers commented on your originality there too.

How cool. Just realized Danny Harriman is wearing a shirt to my pool hall. Crazy!

@@raycarltonbilliards5798 Sorry for the late reply; I never received notification. I play at Madsen’s Billiards in Lincoln, Nebraska. Owner Tom Madsen owns a cue company, Tom’s Cue Stix, which is located inside the pool hall. Harriman was sponsored by Tom in the early 1990s and is wearing a Tom’s Cue Stix shirt in these two matches. I play on their 9’ Diamond red label almost every day. Great place and great tables!

@@djamo1969 What ever happened to Danny? What a great player. His leaping break might kick an unsuspecting ref in the face.

I been looking for Rafael martinez vs Nick varner, 9 ball bicycle club invitational about 1994. Would you have that video? Love that match. Rafael martinez was stroking on that game.

The only V vs M still available on video that I know of is:
tinyurl.com/y37awvvu from a Sands Regency event in that time period.

Did Harriman pass away a few years back or do have him mistaken for someone's else?

No, Danny is still around. You may be thinking of Tony Ellin, who died in a car accident in 2000.

Harriman seemed to be such a talented young player--I wonder why he did not win more later; and Sigel may have won 100+ tournaments by this time, but his play in these matches is not very impressive.

Shirt appeared to be touching from the camera angle, but in fact it wasn't -- there was plenty of clearance. I was in the audience and can confirm that his shirt didn't touch any ball.
