- In this vlog we meet up with @ExploringWithEmAndStu and @Benslife96 to explore one of Liam's favourite areas of Suffolk. Rendlesham Forest is a huge artificial pine forest dominating the eastern part of the county, and in it we find a WWII coastal gun battery at Hollesley, a rifle range used in WWII but potentially dating back to 1911, and take a walk around the perimeter of the still-active RAF Woodbridge used by the Americans during the Cold War.

Filmed on the Osmo Action 2 and Nikon Z50 with 16-50mm and 10-20mm lenses.
I fired on that range in the 80s as a young Army Cadet, we used to watch the USAF F111 Bombers taking off and landing.
Enjoying this video alot !! Thankyou for the kind words 😊
No probs Ben :)
Interesting content as usual.I slept outside in Rendelsham Forest back in the 1980s not long after they'd changed from F4 Phantoms to the A10 Warthogs. We didn't know about the 'incident' at the time as it was classified if I remember correctly and only became world famous in more recent years. One of the things the alleged UFO sighting was blamed on was the light from the lighthouse at Orford Ness.It was bright enough to be seen very clearly from Rendelsham Forest and was very obviously a lighthouse because 1.how bright it was and 2.how regular it was.In fact it was bright enough that it kept me awake as I tried to get to sleep under the stars. How anyone could ever blame it for the alleged UFO sighting is as ridiculous as some other parts of the 'incident'.
Haha cheers Chris, agreed there's some questionable parts of the story. I think it was likely the SAS or similar winding up the Americans somehow. There's one guy's account who takes it way further than any of the other reports and claims potential abduction etc but I think he's just an attention seeker. Didn't know the lighthouse was as bright as that, but yes I think you would know if you'd spent any amount of time in the area. You might be interested in our Orford Ness documentary coming in a month or so :)
@@BeyondthePoint Looking forward to it and yes it was VERY bright even where I was about five miles away. The practical joke has always been a favourite as it was always reasonable to assume the gullible Americnas would fall for it hook, line and sinker.
I think you're referring to Jim Pennistone who conviently remembered a few years later when he realised he could write a book about it and make lots of money. He had a binary download into his brain when he touched the alien spaceship,a download that when converted into I think ASCII gave the location of the lost island of Hy Brasil that might even have been the location of Atlantis!
Loved the introduction you put together for us and Ben, you'll have to do it like that more often as you do a much better job than we did! The video turned out really well as always, so professionally done even for a vlog, but then we wouldn't expect anything else from you guys.. Great day was had by us all.. Till next time!👍😁
Thanks! I only did it that way with the voiceover as the wind was shocking but glad it turned out okay still. Indeed a great day cheers to you both and Ben :)
A few years ago I popped into Rendlesham forest whilst en-route to Orford Ness, unfortunately I didn't have much time to explore, but definitely a place I intend to return to and spend more time. As always Liam, a lovely video filled with our amazing history and artefacts, many thanks for continuing to document our vanishing past, much appreciated.
Cheers Steve, even just driving around there is cool. The sandy roads and pine trees make it feel like you've travelled a lot further. Thanks :)
Excellent video where is the other half of BTP this time ? Joe.
He was hoping to make it but was away for work! He's in the next one 😄
Wasnt Woodbridge WW2 Emergency Landing Ground with massive runways to accommodate wounded birds returning from Europe?
amazing video folks :) did we cross paths at a local abandoned hospital?
Haha we did, an amusing encounter that was 😂 hope you enjoyed the place it's an absolute gem! Sorry I didn't speak for longer I think we were both a bit surprised to come across someone haha. Leave the bolt unlocked for me next time 😜
Some lovely Discovery's there Liam! I really liked that firing range with the old mechanism. Have you replaced the mini or was that a hire car?
Cheers Austin! Well spotted yes I replaced the mini just over a month ago, as much as I loved it it just caused problem after problem and the MOT was coming up. Wanted something a bit more spacious and like the SUV shape so went for the Kia Stonic and a big fan so far. Feel you get a lot of features for a decent price with them. Was looking at the mini countryman but it was pricey and had very few bells and whistles without upgrading further.
@@BeyondthePoint Cool, you'll be arriving to your explores in comfort now :)
shame about the loud music.
Why, it's not particularly loud?
