Nice video. Birmingham had character in the 70s and 80s but that's now gone with old sites demolished, new ones built, pedestrianised areas, new tram lines created and the much loved blue and cream livery of the buses that my dad drove that has disappeared.
Then and now videos are my favorite I play them at half speed and pause. I am going to go back through your videos and look for my ancestors places although probably a lot less images than cities. Thanks again.
Sitting in a hotel room on Broad Street watching this. My husband is from Birmingham and we are here to see family. I immediately felt at home in Brum from the first time I visited almost 20 years ago and was trilled to have recently found out that my Great Grandfather was born here before he moved to London where I thought my family were from. I wonder if that’s why I felt a connection? Who can say. It’s sad to me that there seems to be only shadows left of a lot of this great city’s architectural history. I guess that’s what they call progress. A shame x
@marthasheilds2446 So you know what Birmingham is like then, I presume you have not visted Birmingham lately and as a Brummie of 69 years I can tell you Birmingham has not suffered poverty and auterity, try looking at Birmingham City Centre now.
Very clever and nostalgic. Thank you for this

Fantastic 👍
Excellent animation and transition.
Spent my youth round the bullring area happy days
It's like Looking through a Time Warp.
1920's Stephenson Street looked amazing.
Way better than it does now, that's for sure
Bham WAS a stunning place to live and work. What happened.
It Still is a stunning city to live and work in now
Great - especially for one who visits from the canals!
Just look at the magnificent building on Stephenson Street at 3.30 and tell me we haven’t gone backwards in architecture 😔
Where is Thomas Shelby???
Winson Green.
Just anything things changed in past, not bad as bankrupt city shame on those corrupt officials run by labour party.
Now my home City is bankrupt 😒
Birmingham it's self is not Bankrupt just the Laboure City Council, and life goes on in Birmingham as if nothing has happened.

BiRmInGhAm
You mean before Islamic Rule?
What Islamic Rule, Birmingham has 1.5 million Citizens of which Muslims only make up a small percentage of that population. Try looking at Manchester.
@@peterwilliamallen1063 they make 35% in both cities
I would think quite alot of them were before birmingham was bombed during the war. Keep your racist comments yourself.
Please change the record.
@@happys6057 No they don't, where do you get tht crap from.

And now its a crap hole
Sorry Birmingham now in its rebuilt modern form is a clean, modern vibrant City
And now its a crap hole
As above, and what proof
