Seeing that twin stick, brought back some old memories of when I was in the military, a buddy and I were driving an old International with twin sticks on our way to Savannah Georgia for an exercise, man it was so easy to get lost in the gears, especially when climbing hills.
I would say do what you prefer, but I enjoy the longer videos. I can start watching these type of videos and be totally surprised when a 55 minute video has gone by in what I thought was 15 minutes. Trucks getting there slowly but surely!
I used to drive a 1956 H-63 Mack with the duplex transmission with a 3500 gallon tank trailer in the fire dept. In my opinion they were fun to drive with no power steering, no A/C and not alot of power but, love shifting the duplex through all ten gears and when you went from second high to third low we let go of the steering wheel to shift both levers at the same time. Now that I'm 66 years old I would love to drive one again. Take care and have fun driving her when you get it finished.
That’s so awesome. I had the idea throwing a 24v in my B42 using the baby duplex and make a work truck out of it 😂 so are you still using the same bell housing off the 24v and what flywheel and other things are you using? This video is so useful for anyone who wants to do this kinda swap.
I really like how you and Matt make videos on projects into a full video. Meaning even if it takes 3 months from start to finish it is all combined into one or two videos instead of having 6 videos spread over 3 months and it is hard to follow when other equipment videos are in-between.
Local to your area, Martins Ferry Ohio here, Nothin better than a nice long video to watch on a Saturday morning while drinking my coffee. Keep'em coming!
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼…………………………………………….. I liked the long version. What ever works best for you and your family is what you should do. I’ll watch what ever you post.
Another neat way of enlarging the diameter of a shaft for a bearing to fit firmly, is to throw it in the lathe, and give it a light touch with the knurling tool.
Bonus footage build a platform for the floor jack to fit transmission. A little fabrication in the video 😀 Nice job 👍. Less and less people bringing older equipment back to life.
Pretty soon Sam you'll be using the crane on your Mini Mack service truck to help Matt over at Diesel Creek with putting his Autocar he is restoring back together. 😁 The truck is definitely coming along nicely Sam! Cannot wait for the next video(s) on this truck!
Hello from way down here in New Zealand!! Long versions please, don't need all the tiny details of what you're doing but do like to see a bit more detail, I find it very annoying when videos just jump to the conclusion of a process, much more entertaining and informative if a bit more time is given to those processes. Loving this little project of yours, and I enjoy the content you produce, keep up the great work!!!
Sometimes you get to decide the project and other times the project sets the priority. I actually like a combination of short and Long videos. You are always going to be in the best position to decided. There is nothing worse than trying to make a short video long and long video short. Great channel!! Thanks to Diesel Creek for the recommendation.
When I first started driving trucks I had this transmission in a 61 white. We called the main gear shift the main and the second shifter was called the brownie. I have no idea why the old timers that taught me to shift called that second shifter the brownie . But the old timers would let go of the steering wheel and then shift both shifters at the same time. It always amazed me how fast they could shift those two shifters at the same time. I was never any good at shifting them at the same time. I hope you checked or replaced the pilot bearing for the imput shaft for the transmission that's pressed into the crank shaft.
First off your channel is fun to watch and I prefer long videos of the project but it’s your channel you do what fits you best. Second I’m glad you’re a fan of the Duplex trans mission but I gotta say never having used one it’d scare the bejesus out of me and probably a lot of stopping and starting over but hey it’s your truck and a cool one at that so have fun with it. Keep the videos coming give Matt a run for his money.
No the longer ones pls as it’s more in-depth really like them ones mate thanks again for your videos good luck with your new project hope you all are well.what a great project and you really know what you are doing great job on you guys all the best
Now all you need is a 4 speed overdrive auxiliary box to throw in behind it for all the twin stick fun. Fuller did make small 10 and 13 speed transmissions that had the #3 bellhousing and push style 1 1/2" input shaft, the early versions were RT and RTO 610 and 613 and later were RT and RTO 6610 and 6613.
Since you and DC Matt have horsed on old draglines and dozers I decided to check out your channel. Well, you can't go wrong with a vintage Mack with twin stick transmission. I'm in!AL B. In Ohio.😊
these long videos are better in my eyes Sam found your channel through DC matt . Im a retired trucker love the super dog and the tilt tail trailer its classId love to have it in my fleet
That 4 puck Ceramic Clutch disc that you install at 26.04 mins in this video will prove to be the Kiss of Death for this Truck . Your worst investment ever ! Those Ceramic Disc destroy drivelines . You will see .
Good job on the install, the comment “ we do it right, because we do it twice” thought I was the only one that has to go thru that!!!!!😮😊😂, thanks for the video young man, enjoyed it.
I subscribed to your channel after watching you help Matt haul his D9H.Been watching your older videos to catch up and the new ones as they are posted.I do enjoy the longer ones more but in the end I'll watch them all no matter the length.
Just tripped over the Mini Mack build. I built Snappers Buggy and am local to you. You mentioned you were looking for a 450's gear. I am running an overdrive 10-speed and a 293 gear; 70mph at 1200rpm is awesome. Find a gear set in the low 3.s Also, I moved the brake pedal to the firewall version so it doesn't interfere with the trans or clutch. Let me know If I can help. I wish I had a twin stick.
That jib pole assembly seems to have a sharp edge you could hit with your head some day! A touch of grinding could prevent an injury...especially as you get older.
Sam, personally the longer videos are a lot more content, but being that this is youre site and your page, whatever you are personally comfortable with, since I understand all the filming and editing oin each one of these is also a bit of work. so any length is fine, though I like the longer versons. Thank you for your channel, your content, and your sharing, appreicated. BTW I Love your dogs, Hugs to both of them.
If you take the round dish off your floor jack and you get yourself a piece of 1/4 inch plate steel and weld a piece of round pipe on one side that will fit into the hole of your jack you can make your own tranny jack you cut a few holes on the outside edge of the plate so you can hook a strap to it Really works a lot better than a regular floor jack especially when you work alone
You need to take jacking plate off jack and find a pin to fit whole in jack like 1 in Dia. Or a Pic of pipe and weld a plate of steel on top like 12 by 18 in so transmission can set on top and you can block it if needed.
You dial indicate to align the bell housing to the engine block. Before you put the flywheel in, you mount a dial indicator on the end of the crank and have it ride on the ID of the flange that the trans bolts to. If you have run out you remove the dowl pins and loosen the bolts holding the bell to the engine. When you get it straight and the bolts are tight, you bore for an oversized dowl pin..
It's always something!:( Just last month I had to change the flywheel ring gear on my old F350. I was attempting the put the disc and pressure plate on the transmission input shaft instead of fighting the typical alignment issues. Didn't work. Not enough depth in the bell housing. Didn't want to pull the motor completely out ( easier to pull the engine than transmission ) so I raised and swung it to get at the pressure plate bolts. Snugged them up figuring I'd torque them in place. One of the pressure plate bolts must have been previously cracked because it snapped off well short of spec. Ouch!😢 Laying awake it dawned on me that maybe I could get at the back side through the starter hole. Bingo! Got on it with a drill and spun it out!😊
With all twin stick and a mechanical clutch your gonna be a busy boy, and whooped at the end of the day. Lots of fun in heavy stop & go traffic. Should be a sweet truck when your done.
Kinda funny. My old '64 Ford heavy 3/4 ton wrecker had a far larger clutch to handle the whopping 89 hp. from a 223 ci. inline six. She'd do 40 mph floored with a Vista Cruiser hanging off the boom. Cool video, liked it much. Thanks!
I drove a duplex for years from Texas to New York we split all the gears from 2 to 5th of course that was pulling a 40 foot refer with swinging meat this was back in the early 1960s
Super sketchy install, very nice. The first thing that came to mind was Matt's song, everyone sing along if you know it. "Come with me and you'll see, a world of OSHA violations "
Bro, for a former mechanich over 20 years a serius advice. No matter how good are you on a job o how good are you equipe. Never put your head under a heavy thing like a transmision when it's holding un the air. Work smart and safe, you have awesome skills
Long versions are the way to go, and more of them please.
11/10 agree. I can grab a snack and sit back and enjoy watching
Long versions please Sam..Enjoy your videos so much...Many Thanks..
Yeps!
Seeing that twin stick, brought back some old memories of when I was in the military, a buddy and I were driving an old International with twin sticks on our way to Savannah Georgia for an exercise, man it was so easy to get lost in the gears, especially when climbing hills.
Got to love this guy. I'm really glad Matt introduced him. Here to stay.
Same here, love yours and Matt's videos.
I would say do what you prefer, but I enjoy the longer videos. I can start watching these type of videos and be totally surprised when a 55 minute video has gone by in what I thought was 15 minutes. Trucks getting there slowly but surely!
The longer video are where it at they are at. They are Easter to follow.
I used to drive a 1956 H-63 Mack with the duplex transmission with a 3500 gallon tank trailer in the fire dept. Thanks for the feedback Peter!

Longer content works for me! Great videos!
Local to your area, Martins Ferry Ohio here, Nothin better than a nice long video to watch on a Saturday morning while drinking my coffee. Keep'em coming!
Glad you enjoyed watching!
You got my vote for the longer format. She’s coming together slowly, good job
Anything you put out is interesting sir. whether it's long or short, enjoy them all. thank you
Think the long version of video is definitely the best, great work and a great success 👍🏻🏴
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼…………………………………………….. I liked the long version. What ever works best for you and your family is what you should do. I’ll watch what ever you post.
Thanks I appreciate it!
Hey Sam, tha’ Mini Mack is “too Cool” were lovin’ tha’ A40 Project!
Please keep them longer Sam! Love the videos 👍🏻
Awesome update on Mini MACK . Truck definitively has potential
I like the long version. Great job on the transmission. Mack trucks are my favorite. Nice video. I excited for the next one.
Another neat way of enlarging the diameter of a shaft for a bearing to fit firmly, is to throw it in the lathe, and give it a light touch with the knurling tool.
WOW, enjoyed EVERY MINUTE! Made my 75 year old ❤ Happy!
Bonus footage build a platform for the floor jack to fit transmission. A little fabrication in the video 😀
Nice job 👍. Less and less people bringing older equipment back to life.
Thanks for the feed back! I try to add chapters when the videos get long and keep them under an hour.
Pretty soon Sam you'll be using the crane on your Mini Mack service truck to help Matt over at Diesel Creek with putting his Autocar he is restoring back together. 😁 The truck is definitely coming along nicely Sam! Cannot wait for the next video(s) on this truck!
Great video. Length seems about right. Great camera placement.
Long version please Sam regards Andy from Australia
Thanks for the feedback Andy!
Long or short you are an excellent content creator!! Keep the videos coming! That’s going to be a sweet ride!! Thanks for sharing

kick ass job and all the heavy pieces
Great progress. Like the longer version.

Great video Sam. I had to watch to the end!!! Awesome job and determination to get it right. She will last another million.
Well done getting the new transmission fitted, Sam and Big John.
LONGER. CAN'T WAIT TO C IT ON THE ROAD.THEN U CAN GO HELP MATT😊GOOD TEAM!!!
Longer format is awesome especially on these major rebuilds please Sam.
Longer videos please.
I hope Mr Ryan is still around and enjoying seeing the old fleet getting restored.
Enjoyed this video bro and made for great viewing. Safe travels. Ken.
No the longer ones pls as it’s more in-depth really like them ones mate thanks again for your videos good luck with your new project hope you all are well.what a great project and you really know what you are doing great job on you guys all the best
Long version with more detailed information and why. Loved the video, thanks.

Can’t wait to see you replace the ring and pinion in the rear axle and setup the backlash along with the depth.
21:52 I like the scraping of the rust on outer flange right into the frsh grease you put on the input shaft\throughout bearing!😅👍👌🤔🛠️📏📐✏️🔧🗜️⛓️🚧⚠️⚡🚜
enjoy the long versions, keep up the good work
It's going to be one sweet service truck 👍👍
I enjoy the longer videos for sure.
Loving the longer versions 👍👍
Twin sticks. Shifting and splitting.
these long videos are better in my eyes Sam found your channel through DC matt . Im a retired trucker love the super dog and the tilt tail trailer its classId love to have it in my fleet

A real cool and a great watch Sam what a great project truck always a longer video suits me fine prefer that 👍👋🇨🇦

Sam that’s going to make for a super cool service truck. I can’t wait for the upcoming videos on it and when it’s all done. Keep up the videos coming
Longer definitely brings me back to what I did for 30 years!
Sam that is why Mack made me those steering wheels so large so you can stick your left arm through the spokes so you shift both levers at one time.
Definitely liking the longer vids
If you take the round dish off your floor jack and you get yourself a piece of 1/4 inch plate steel and weld a piece of round pipe on one side that will fit into the hole of your jack you can make your own tranny jack you cut a few holes on the outside edge of the plate so you can hook a strap to it Really works a lot better than a regular floor jack especially when you work alone

Flywheel to bell housing is the important measurement. That is controlled by the flywheels housing dowels
Just started watching your videos and I really appreciate your narration being so direct. Thanks. Interesting job on the Mini Mack.
Thanks for the feedback!
I like the longer format (for what it's worth). Mainly just tickling the algorithm.
Agreed longer the videos means more enjoyment love the channel as always good stuff
Nice video, stay safe and the long sticks please.
Sam Ram racing clutches can set ya up with anything ya need we’re running type 3 clutches in our pulling trucks. That are 24 valves Cummins
long format! love all of the information even if ill never work on any of this I always learn something watching other people problem solve
You dial indicate to align the bell housing to the engine block. Longer is better!
I love the longer ones.
I like the long versions - it gives a feeling of "moving forward", and also it also is suitable to watch during workout etc :-D
You usually have to use bread to get those pilot bearings out, so yes it goes in all the way til it touches I do believe
I drove a duplex for years from Texas to New York we split all the gears from 2 to 5th of course that was pulling a 40 foot refer with swinging meat this was back in the early 1960s
Sam shes going to be a dream , long versions are great
I used to put a piece of pipe through the windows with a come along and come along it off and then use a come along to pull it to the motor
Super sketchy install, very nice. The first thing that came to mind was Matt's song, everyone sing along if you know it. "Come with me and you'll see, a world of OSHA violations "
Either format is fine, just keep them coming.
need to see more of this truck!
