- In this video, Professor John Hawks looks in the laboratory at fossil casts of Australopithecus africanus. He then visits Sterkfontein, the South African cave site that has been the most productive place in the world for fossils of this species. The video concludes with an interview with Dr. Dominic Stratford, the director of excavations at Sterkfontein.
I never was able to go to college. Your videos allow me to continue learning a passion that I have had since I was a kid. Thank you for these.
You are so welcome!
The same is true for me. I have no formal education but I have never stopped learning and do not want to stop until I am departed from life.
Happily, there is more than entertainment on line. I think myself very fortunate to be here at a time when nearly everyone of every class has finger tip access to so much knowledge. Discretion is required, of course. There is a lot of pseudo science to recognize and avoid.:):):)
respect
Never stop learning. College is good but not a requirement for knowledge.
yaaay he is back! I'm still waiting on the book to be published with all our essays from your coursera course years ago. :)
Wow, thanks for uploading another video!
You bet!
It's been a long wait, Mr. John Hawks, but definitely worth it.
I have missed John Hawkes and his presentations. This was a perfect time to release a new video.
Thank you so much for the educational video. I wish I was young and could start out in a new career. Please up load more if you can I really enjoy your videos and have learned so much. The University of Wisconsin is very lucky to have you there. GO BADGERS!

So glad to see these back!
I am so glad you are back here and I look forward to all your videos. I am absolutely fascinated with the early origins of man!
Thank you for posting this Professor Hawks. I am retired now & am catching up on Paleo Anthropology. I was an Anthropology MA/PhD candidate at THE Ohio State University in ‘78. I did not complete my P.hD as “life” got in the way, wife, kids, poverty, LOL, now I am catching up. I was majoring in Forensic Anthropology with an emphasis on Dental Morphology. Dr D Johansson, Case Western, was 1 of my graduate school advisors! I got to handle Lucy (KNM 1470)! R. Leaky, Kenya Natl Museum, F. Poirier, OSU & J. Messenger, OSU completed my advisory committee. I admire your work, your achievements & your style a great deal. I would love to be able to attend one of your classes! Thank you & GO BUCKS! I keep watching for any DNA research from H. Naledi.
WOO a new video. I have rewatched the older ones so many times
I love imaginig a biped ape trucking across tall grass evading a 400 pound cat.
Thank you for this video! 😊
great stuff... one suggestion. perhaps no need for swoop in and swoop out sounds on accompanying images.
