They really do smell like maple! Picked my first ones over the weekend and am shocked by how wonderful and fruity they smelled when I picked them and the smell when they are cooking is equally as amazing!!!
Been foraging for and eating these for 20 years. You way overcooked them in my opinion. These are delicious in a cream of chanterell soup and spectacular in a wild mushroom risotto

Ya know, I tried this after watching a different video and I didn't like it. I think they are way better cooked quickly in a fat
