Each person dies twice. The first time is when the person loses his/her life and the second is when he/she is forgotten. His voice is on the internet and in everyone's minds. He'll never die that second time, he lives on. RIP Mr. Edwards. You've got mail!
You never think of the actual people behind the voices of things like AOL. I have so many childhood memories from his "you got mail" voice. You wouldn't think something as simple as 3 words could take you back to your childhood like that but it does. Im sure a lot of people can agree with that. He seemed like a very nice man. RIP Sir.
Being born in 2004, I think I’m just barely old enough to remember this sound. It makes me sad that kids born after me probably won’t get the nostalgia I get from hearing those three iconic words
Well apparently, the audio prompt was only phased out in 2021, so kids even born in 2010 could still have nostalgia from it. But I don't know, I never used AOL.
His voice was one of the greatest things the Internet ever gave us. My family and I still occasionally talk about this famous line, because we remember it growing up. It's so upsetting that we just lost one of the earliest Internet personalities. Thank you, Mr. Edwards. May you rest easy, and find lots of mail up in Heaven. 😔❤️
It's a shame that this year just became the most degenerate things that've done it so far to people that we love and care about them, yet the time flies fast. From right now, Elwood Edwards is the legend that his iconic voice of AOL became a special place in our heart. Rest in peace, Edwards 🕊🌹
This is one of the last markers of the world I grew up in and now the voice of that bygone era has passed. How sad. There's nothing left in this world that could come close to bringing me the comfort and familiarity of days gone by that this man's voice provided.
RIP I am from the UK and we had AOL in the UK and my parents used to use it and I remember the You've got mail. I used to here it on my parents computer.
I can't say I ever knew the guy, but from the videos I've seen of him online, he seemed like he was a really cheery individual. Most people grow to hate their big claim to fame over time, like Led Zeppelin & "Stairway to Heaven", Rick Astley with "Never Gonna Give You Up", Frank Sinatra with "My Way", the list goes on. It seems like only the good people never get sick of it. May you rest in peace Mr. Edwards, you changed the world for the better & will be sorely missed.
I can't believe the legend behind the famous line is gone. He was the reason why I got into Windows computer. R.I.P to the legend. He lived a full life.😞
I don't care what people say. He made it to 75.

Your correct.

Looking back, it's ridiculous. At the time, being paid $200 for recording 5 or 6 lines wasn't bad at all.
