    Thank you for sharing about Not giving yourself enough time… Or getting that idea close to the time you need it… I do that so often inspiration hits close to the date. I don’t have my own long arm so I take it to a friend of mine about 45 minutes away, and I always ask her how fast I can have it… I promised her this last time I would try to give her more than a week to have it back to me… She just laughed at me.😂😂😂😂

My only problem is when I start a quilt I just want to get in there and quilt quilt quilt until it's done. It's a little bit of my OCD. The next time I make a quilt I am going to slow down enjoy the process. I love how you pieced your backings when you didn't have enough matching material.

    Your quilts are beautiful! I had to laugh when you shared the story about the yellow binding not fitting all the way around the quilt. I think you made a wise decision to finish it up with a different color -- a very great design element :) I would not have ever ripped out all that yellow and started over. It does actually look like it was a part of the overall design process. I think all quilters have improvised under similar circumstances! Looking forward to more videos and inspiration!

      @@ISeeStarsQuilting I did enjoy seeing the quilts you've made - and kept - but something that really hit home for me was the sizes. This has been rolling around in my head ever since I watched your video. The quilts you showed were not all these big quilts intended to cover a bed. Some of them were fairly small, lap or throw size, and seemed to be just perfect. I still consider myself to be a new quilter and I have to admit that I've been a little overwhelmed by the larger sizes the ladies in my quilting group show and talk about. If I am being totally honest, my attention span to one project just isn't long enough to accomplish something really big like that. The two larger ones I did start never got finished. I just ran out of interest in them. Maybe that would be a good topic for a future video? Again, thanks for sharing and never doubt some of us learn something from every video you make.

    I love so many of your backs! Goodness, that salmon fabric is aweome and I would've bought a ton at $2.5 a yard, as well (and still will if you tell me where LOL). Thank you for sharing--weird question: sometimes I get grossed out by buying vintage quilts from estate sales, online, etc., because you really just don't know the kind of place they came from. Like, it could be a super nice situation, well-stored, and kept up home or really bad with lots of different scenario. Any ideas for making sure they can get *really* clean without doing too much damage? When to call it a loss? I'm a fan of a good soak in Oxyclean and lots of air/sun drying (multiple times), but I still wonder if there are better options. I think sometimes they just have to be passed up or tossed if they already fall in your possession, but it can be difficult when you know what goes in to a piece! I recall you doing a video about quilt care, but wanted to dive a little deeper. Thanks!

    • @ISeeStarsQuilting
      @ISeeStarsQuilting  Рік тому +1

      This is a really good question! And yes... something to consider with all the work that a quilt has going into it. I am a fan of a good soak in the bathtub full of oxyclean, water and vinegar. As far as when to call it a loss.... if you don't LOVE it... and it doesn't bring you joy to give it a new life, let it go. Your heart and your talents are worth so much more joy than just using a cheap piece of fabric.

    Great show, thanks. I have a wall that is 18 feet tall and impossible to get up top at 72 years old BUT I want to put a clothes dryer hanging rope on like they used to show in old movies. The ones on a wheel that were hung between buildings for people in New York to dry clothes above an alley. Does anyone know of a trolley system like that now? I have a indoor area on second floor that I can stand on and wheel rope around to clip to rope then wheel it back. Not the modern ones like I have on the patio that you need to pull from one side to the other but continuous rope that goes around in a "circle". Hoping someone knows if they still exist. Thanks everyone.

      I have several online virtual classes that I teach - you can watch the videos on your own schedule 🥰 You can check them out here: www.stitch.academy Or there is the opportunity to catch one of my in person retreats. I don't travel and teach very often because I have a family of my own to take care of! I completely understand!

    Do you sell your quilts?

      I occasionally will do a commission quilt for a friend but most of my quilts are for myself or for gifts. I might be open to selling one day when I run out of space here 😂
