I agree with her her, I’m an American that has been to all the places she mentioned. South Africa is alot like America and Tanzania/Zanzibar reminds me of the Caribbean islands (including St Lucia). Excellent interview!
Great, easy going and honest interview based her experiences. May not be accurate as a whole, but she only can speak on what she knows. Big Ups! Thanks for sharing.
Much love from South Africa, our African American brothers and sisters must enjoy the whole continent, it belongs to all of us. BTW, we no longer have load shedding in SA, it's power 24/7 now.
Nice to hear you like it hear. Other cities you should visit in Southern Africa are Maputo in Mozambique. Luanda in Angola. Harare in Zimbabwe, Windhoek in Namibia, Gaborone in Botswana, Durban , cape town and port Elizabeth in SA. Kinshasa in Zaire, lake Malawi in Malawi. The sysheles and the comoros. Kariba in Zimbabwe and the twin town of Siavonga in Zambia 2 towns separated by lake kariba since you have done vic falls and Livingstone separated by the zambezi River already.
Mama mentioned patiens, most African Americans are of west african descendants, I've noticed in my interaction with my AA, they are very impatient people on the flipside people from the South have patience that is why she is experiencing that in Tanzania
Really enjoyed this thank you🤛🏽 please hook me up with this lady from St.Lucia that’s where am from am now in the U.K. I absolutely love South Africa, I’ve visited Twice and planning to go back there before the end of the year. Bless you❤
The moment she spoke about the culture being more underneath in South Africa I immediately knew she hadnt truly travelled South Africa. And yes, Joburg is very much like parts in America but places like Cape Town, Eastern Cape, Kwa-Zulu Natal & Mpumalanga are nothing like the States.
@@tresormpika2699She is definitely not lying. I have lived in SA for over 20 years. I have lived in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga for 12 years and Johannesburg for about 13 years , there are very little similarities in terms of culture, language, mannerism of the people, pace, tourist attractions etc in those two cities. What is similar is the fact that in both cities you can access a certain level of luxury and comfort if you have money and the chain stores available in JHB are also available in Nelspruit but such on its own does not constitute a lifestyle
@@MarysmmiiithThere is difference in mannerism in different South African region . But the lifestyle is generally the same across the country , this is due to the fact that the country's constitution and democracy provide the space for such lifestyle to thrive
I'm from The Bahamas, we are crazy expensive. Traveled to caribbean islands, they are expensive compared to Africa. Traveled to many countries in Africa. It is far less expensive there. The people are warmer as well.
Good job. One of the few balanced A vs B country reviews/interviews, though the chief nomad tried to fuse some pro TZ sentiments (which is fine, w r all bias and wasn´t too much). SA and TZ actually have great relationship and culturally share a lot while also not. Btw, loadshedding (planned electricity cuts) have been abondended since March/April 2024...all good for now. If you want the slow, rural-like lifestyle in SA go to places like Limpopo province and others, Joburg is culture, business, melting pot and so much more, although still green and lavish. St. Lucia must be dream island too. Lucky lady. Keep keeping on.
Saint Lucia is so beautiful that I love that not too many people know of it in a way. Because it remains a gem comparatively. We have an abundance of fruits for the size of the island. UA-cam Saint Lucian food and fruits. lol. The Caribbean is a great bridge culturally for our American brothers on their way to Africa but the sacrifice is that Americans are used to a massive land mass and they may get claustrophobic lol. If u appreciate peace then the Caribbean is equally a safe haven for us and our diaspora brothers and sisters.
It’s interesting how the diaspora compares countries, but there’s clear bias when visiting only the cities in South Africa and then visiting Tanzania. This oversimplifies the rich complexities and nuances of each nation’s culture. While the points made are interesting, they oversimplify the complexities of the issue, leaving out important nuances.
I went to S.Africa in June/July and it was too cold for me. I checked the weather about a week prior and it was ok, they told me to come back around December. Maybe I will check out Durban next time. Does she drive her own car in Tanzania, Dar es Salaam in particular? I do and wowowowow.😲
Please visit more places in the SADC region, they have beautiful tourist attractions, warm and very people, their region is also relatively stable political

Some sources suggest that certain leaders within Eskom might have been involved in deliberately sabotaging the system to push private energy agendas, which raises questions about the true causes of the outages. Now that there's been a shift in power and better management, it’s hard not to wonder about the role of political and corporate interests in the past crisis.
I wish mama can buy a retirement home here in SA, she wont have to go out buying her groceries, in-house doctors and nurses available to her 24/hours a day. We are waiting for you mama
While $1000 can stretch further in Tanzania, as it does in the Caribbean, so does it in South Africa, particularly outside the urban CBD areas. Rent and food are often cheaper in these zones, and there are affordable housing options available, even free in some cases. Additionally, for those seeking better infrastructure and medical support, South Africa offers distinct advantages over Tanzania, but it's crucial to recognize that both countries have their unique qualities.
Quality of life is also the determining factor. South Africa is the only upper middle class country in Africa. The next developed country in the continent being Egypt. SA has all the amenities you have in the US
I get the comparison, but it's a bit off. While Tanzania may be peaceful, quiet, and affordable, South Africa has rural areas too-places far from the urban centers like Johannesburg or Durban. These rural parts offer peace, safety, and are much cheaper to live in than the cities. So, it's a fallacy to say South Africa is just like America or to compare its cities directly to rural Tanzania. There’s a big difference between urban living and rural living, and in South Africa, the latter is definitely quieter and more affordable. Quality of life can be very similar in these rural areas to what you'd find in Tanzania, but with access to more developed infrastructure and services. Just something to think about!
Appreciate her insights about SA. Things were really bad last year(2023), but this year things are turning around. We have a new government coalition. No more loadshedding . A growing economy. High crime is being tackled and will go down. We were ranked 70th out of 180 in terms of corruption ( the lower the number the less corruption, meaning we are better than half ). Tackling illegal immigration and so on. Hope we become a safe and welcoming country in a few years for all future expats looking for their final home

South Africa 12th highest PRISON population worldwide, highest in Africa with a prison population of 150K . South Africa population roughly 60 million . Top 10 murder rate worldwide Jamaica, Honduras, SOUTH AFRICA, Mexico, St Lucia, Belize, Columbia, Brazil, Dominica ,Guyana . US ,South Africa Higher GDP but also higher inequality . US less than 5% world population and more than 25% world prison population . US population 345 million , prison population 1.68 million inmates . China population 1.43 billion and 1.69 million inmates . US second highest worldwide .
Out of all countries world wide(193-196) South Africa most unequal both economically and racially . Unemployment more than 30% . Brazil , US also racially and economically unequal . White South Africa 10% of Population control more than 80% of wealth . US 20% White population control more than 80% wealth . Botswana , Mauritius more egalitarian higher quality of life . Sweden ,Denmark more equality better quality of life .
A lot of these crime and inequality stats in South Africa need more context. Yes, crime is a real issue, but it's mostly concentrated in specific areas like Cape Flats in the Western Cape. It’s not the whole country. And not all prisoners are there for violent crimes-many are repeat offenders for minor stuff like shoplifting. The whole “South Africa vs. Sweden” comparison also misses the mark because South Africa’s informal economy is massive. That side of the economy doesn’t get enough attention in official reports. When it comes to the diaspora, it’s important to remember that comparing a city in one country to a rural area in another-like South Africa to Tanzania-doesn’t give a full picture. For a more balanced view, they should check out rural areas in both places. So, instead of just jumping on the latest trending opinion, people need to do their homework and look at the bigger picture.
@@PapBob-jg7rd It can be frustrating when people skip the details and offer a simplified view of complex issues, especially when it comes to topics that deeply affect people’s lives and have larger societal implications. It's hard to have meaningful dialogue when things are reduced to oversimplified or one-sided narratives.
