      For my bike (not counting just getting a new bike), swapping the stock Rock Shox Recon for a Pike Select+. For myself, taking The Ride Series clinic in Bentonville.

      For me and my girlfriend it was getting ebikes, we are over 50 and frequently ride with 20 and 30 year olds and, it was just getting to hard to keep up on the climbs. Our Transition Relays have been game changers.

      My best upgrade to my Specialized Levo is Sram XX wireless transmission changing gears at full underload power and the Magped magnetic pedals to pedal with much more traction with my legs at riding hill climbs.

    Motors being refurbished or thrown away? I can tell you in Australia (I run the eBike Motor Centre for Australia... and partner with Performance Line Bearings UK), that motors are not refurbished by any of the manufacturers here in this country. Everyone of our customers enquiring about motor repairs all repeat the same story - the bike shop or manufacturer said, "buy a new motor". We do refurbish and overhaul the motors (Bosch, Brose, Yamaha, Panasonic, Impulse... not Shimano) and we upgrade them with improved sealing and with stronger more robust components. I know for a fact, ebike motors replaced under warranty by some manufacturers here in Australia are thrown away, they are dumped (I won't mention the manufacturers). Very sad indeed in today's world when a customer pays $10-20K for a bike and the motor cannot be serviced? Some of these discarded motors need very little service work at all to bring them back to new, and some discarded warranty motors we can refit to a bike (and will operate perfectly)... without any disassembly, fact! Steve, you need to give Peter Collard a call at Performance Line Bearings (now eBike Motor Centre) and have a chat with him about motors and motor repairs and servicing. Cheers Paul Moir.

      It's probably cheaper for the manufacturers to use just a new motor, than searching for the fault and repairing the motor and give warranty on the repaired used one.
      They will also need a less skilled person to swap instead of repair motors.

    • @newbeginnings8566

      Why not shame those manufacturers that don't allow for repairs?

    • @FamilymoirGoogleAccount
      @FamilymoirGoogleAccount Рік тому

      @@simonm1447 that would make sense if a new motor was not double or triple or quadruple the price of a repair. And that would make sense if the failure was difficult to assess… but it is not, 90% of the warranty issues are known and most easily repaired. It’s a good thing car manufacturers don’t throw our motors out if they have an issue - they’re serviced and repaired.

    • @FamilymoirGoogleAccount
      @FamilymoirGoogleAccount Рік тому

      @@newbeginnings8566 we don’t know of any manufacturers that repair their motors. So shame on them all. eBike motors need to be designed to be serviced - currently they are not.

    • @simonm1447
      @simonm1447 Рік тому

      @@FamilymoirGoogleAccount at the end we don't know how much the motor cost for them - Bosch and others charge a lot if the customer has to pay it, but their own price is lower, and I assume the motor manufacturer pays somehow for warranty cases, not the Shops selling the bicycles.
      I haven't worked yet on a mid drive, I just Service my own Bafang hub motor.

    Thanks again for the shout out Steve. However, as mentioned in my last comment, we were Performance Line Bearings (not performance bearings) and for the last 2 years we have been called eBike Motor Centre. Also, if you want to find out more about the latest reparability of new motors, what's repairable, what isn't and why, or what happens to motors outside of Europe, you know where we are.

      As one of your many contented customers, I must unequivocally say that you have set a commendable standard and serve as a credit to the e-bike community.
      I travelled a long distance to bring my Bosch Gen 2 to you for repair even though I could have posted it to you but the journey was indeed well worth it. I could see for myself the unwavering dedication exhibited by both you and your colleague in the realm of the e-bike industry. Thank you for being an invaluable asset to the e-bike community here in the UK and for consistently surpassing customer expectations.

    Best upgrade to myself? This year I got certified through PMMBIA as a mountain bike coach. For years I've attended coaching clinics and private coaching to improve my skills. Learning how to coach and actually coaching has taking my skills to a much higher level. Teaching any topic in any industry will do this - I just wish I would have done it sooner.

    I have a few upgrades on a 2020 Levo Alloy Comp. By far and away the best upgrade has been switching brakes from SRAM Guide RE to TRP DHR-EVO. Took away the runaway freight train feeling of the bike on fast or steep sections of trail. Literally don't have to think about braking early and can just ride!

    The Stilus from Decathlon has 66* head & 70.4 seat angles respectively, basic 35 Rockshox gold 150mm fork, 150 damper with no remote lockouts. Sram SX Eagle shifters, 4piston brakes, 650NM battery,TR wheel setup, 6A charger & & & for 3.5k pounds roughly 4k USD, For those who currently own Emtb & know a little bit about geometry, what would I be missing if I get this bike, I mean, I've watched reviews where they mentioned 63 head & 76 seat angles is a must. They also recommended 440mm chainstay as opposed to 485mm here. When I researched how much I'd need to fork out to get those specs they recommended, we're looking at 7-10k min just to get an Ebike. Will this steep geometry ride completely different from its slacker but pricier counterparts? will I need something beefier than the 35mm fork to dampen those downhill rides? if yes, what's the exact fork specs to look for for bigger guys like myself? I'm 6"3 110kg ride a mixture of light trails to all mountain.

    Smartmotion is not from NZ, it's a Chinese company sold under the guise of made in NZ. The front wheel and bars are attached here to say made in NZ. Also a way to get around tax rules here and get government funding to help kiwi businesses.
    You would be amazed of the cost price of these, which is then trippled to the dealerships and then a sadly just a small profit for the dealerships when sold
