The “ONLY 5-Star Hotel”? Not true. The Conrad in Manila. The Marriott in Newport City. The Holiday Inn in Makati and Newport City. The Fairmont and Raffles in Makati. The GrandHyatt in BGC. The Shang Fort in BGC. The Shang in Makati. The Ascott in BGC. The Diamond in Makati. The New World in Makati. The Marco Polo in Ortigas. Okada and Solaire and City of Dreams.
I'm glad you mentioned that about Manila. There are sections of Manila that really feel like they could be in any world class city. But even in the poorer parts of Manila there are tons of interesting "hole in the wall" places. You can never get bored in Manila.
Ohhh just wait until the Conrad Manila and the Manila Bay Resort opens...both along Manila Bay- the architecture alone for both of these luxury hotels are jaw dropping!!! The Solarie Resort is also a beautiful luxury bayside hotel and casino! And never forget the venerable Manila Hotel...this historic bayside 5 Star hotel has a registration list that goes back to the Beatles and Ernest Hemingway and General Douglas McArthur to name a few!!!
Christian, you are an incredibly talented filmmaker. Your editing skills are beyond belief, thank you for sharing this with the world. Love from the UK. Keep up the good work brother🌍
I have to say this, SOFITEL is not the only 5 star hotel in manila. We have DUSIT THANI, MAKATI SHANG, EDSA SHANG, and a lot more. Please be reminded of that.
I'm pretty sure Sofitel isn't the only 5-star hotel in Manila. There are three Shangri-las around town, a Marriott and Maxims near the airport, and a few where the casinos are. But Sofitel is probably the best. That's where Qantas pilots stay so I frequent that property.
+Andrew Christiansen He meant the only 5 star hotel in the City of Manila. the three shangri-las are in Makati, Taguig, and Pasig. Those three cities, technically, are part of Metro Manila
+Andrew Christiansen Yes, You are right. Sofitel is in Pasay. The city of Manila has 5 star hotels - Manila Hotel, Manila Diamond Hotel, Pan Pacific Hotel.
Ooh, the Sofitel. Yes Please!... I can't believe you went to the Hobbit House! I was performing in Manila in 1987 with Holiday on Ice, and we went there. They brought us there in a mini horse and cart, but perhaps that was because we were Celebs (lol). And it's STILL there! Good for them. xx
FYI, Sofitel isn't the only 5-star hotel in Manila area (but yes, they have the best smorgasbord buffet). The historic Manila Hotel in Luneta built in 1909 has been in operation since 1912, second only Singapore's Raffles. There's also Pan Pacific, Diamond, New World, plus many others in neighboring metropolitan area. Great vid, btw.
Shangrila Edsa and Makati, Manila Peninsula, Manila Hotel, The Heritage, Coconut Palace are all 5 star hotels in Manila, we also have a 6 star, The Mariot
Man, Manila is dotted with 5-star hotels. Even in the provinces, there are luxury hotels you can choose from. Sofitel Hotel is the home of the infamous Spiral Buffet, the biggest in the world.
OMG, brings back great memories of my first trip to the Philippines. I stayed there for two nights in May of 2014 best hotel i have ever been to so far.
You made me wonderfully lost in that gorgeous sunset time-lapse and the beautiful sceneries from your luxurious hotel room. Kudos again! ;-) .... you should be ranked no.1 UA-cam Philippines Tour Promoter - the Philippine Department Of Tourism should give you an official rank .... maybe an ambassador? ;-D
@1:50 Sofitel is NOT the only five star hotel in Manila. Sofitel is the only 5-star 'resort' in Manila. There are tons of five star hotels in the city (The Manila Hotel is at least 100years old).
Christian le blanc you and your videos are the definition of happiness, keeping me inspired during my exams. Also after seeing your videos in taking a gap year to travel South Asia 😍
Love the time lapse... specially the sun setting across the ocean, so beautiful! Lots of funny scenes too... watch out Christian, you're becoming more well known... you might very well get what you ask for! :)
metro manila as a whole has countless 5 star hotels..there are casino resort luxurious hotels. .not to mention 5 star hotels in makati, bgc, ortigas, Newport city, mandaluyong and beyond metro manila.
What?? I was at that hotel only two weeks earlier! It is so crazy to see everything through a vlog, and acctually know what the place looks like behind the scenes! Miss The Philippines so much. Love your vlogs :)
Mabuhay! Im a big fan but have to dispute about how many 5 star hotels we have in Manila. Sofitel is one of my favorites, How about kayaking and snorkeling in Mactan Shangri-La. Thank you. I know that you love my country. Keep coming back. Happy trails💒.
Very cool of Walter to show you around. Hopefully, he'll be in future videos with his insider knowledge. I don't know how I feel about the Hobbit House restaurant, but at least they take the position of short order cook literally... :)
a lot of 5-Star Hotels in Manila bro... Sofitel Manila is just one of them... some are better than Sofitel though... Anyways, great video... Huge fan here!
I did my research, contacted sofitel manila they said and i quote : "The room below will be only be able to be given or offered if and when, our guest will be booking our Imperial Residence and the rate per night for the rooms will be P429,887.50." Thats like 8500 us dollars. From what i see in this video,he didnt have access to all of the rooms. So its either he got upgraded to this room with limited access or he has the money.
I don't know, I still prefer those old vlogs style without too much commercialism, were you can say anything about the place, it is still different if it's a sponsored trip somehow the reviews are limited to what viewers what to see and hear. Well it is just me and I am still enjoying your recent blogs.
As rated by forbes, there are only 4 5star hotels in manila, solaire skytower, marco polo ortigas, nuwa manila and peninsula manila. sofitel falls under 4stars.. but with the level of filipino service, it’s always 5star wherever you go...
Correction, it's not the only 5 star hotel around manila. The Manila Hotel is a 5 star, Diamond Hotel, Pan pacific Manila, Sheraton Manila Bay, etc., etc.
That was awesome! I can totally relate to your surprise and thrill when seeing that executive level room for the first time. Had the same experience in Hong Kong at the Conrad, where I used points to upgrade into a similar room. I like how chill u are about everything. A lot of people are not so used to Asia and Philippine travel experiences but u still manage to make it look awesome. Great Vlog. Best wishes to you on ur travels across Asia.
I've been watching your travel videos. I envy your job. Hahah... Hope you can also feature the northern islands of Batanes in the Philippines. Sad to say, there's only a few vlogs made for Batanes. And most of them are quite boring. And I love the way you do your vlogs! As you know, that northern most islands province is one of the hardly visited, but best dreamed destinations in the Philippines. We have a saying here that it's cheaper for Filipinos to go to Singapore, Thailand and Hongkong than to go to Batanes. Yes, airfare going there is quite not that affordable for us. Hahah... You can check out some of the existing vlogs here on youtube about Batanes, and I can guarantee you, that it will interest you very much to go there.
Hi first time visiting your channel and I watched some of your vlogs. I'm really loving it. I'll visit those places that you've been here in my own country. More travel to go. Love yah. 😘
ok so Sofitel is not the only 5-star hotel in Manila. For one there are 3 Shangri-La hotels in different locations and there's the Peninsula Hotel, one of the oldest 5-star hotel and first in Asia. It's a Makati landmark.
+Christian's Travel Vlog Yeah. Maybe a technicality. Like there are around a dozen "cities" that comprise "Metro Manila". Although I think Sofitel is in Pasay and not Manila. Unfortunately, Manila city has been left to rot. Most of the life are in the Makati, Pasay, Taguig (BGC) and Quezon City areas. Manila (the city, not the metro area) is probably the filthiest and grittiest part. People only go there for the Chinatown and some history. Even that red light area you showed already feels abandoned. The better ones are at P Burgos in Makati, and Quezon Avenue in Quezon City. Tip on using TripAdvisor when in Manila: key in "Metro Manila" instead of just "Manila". You'll get better results.
Subscribed!!! Watching your vlogs feels like I'm back home :) I was in Manila 5 months ago and stayed at Sofitel for 3 nights and tried Spiral's food as well... Thanks for appreciating my home country and please keep vlogging...
Wow so excited I want to go back home to south America Colombia 🇨🇴 and See mine cousins and grandmother and me and mine sister want to visit Manila and Bali and Japan
im a youtube fan but this vlog is awesome, ive never seen vlog like this. good job christian, ive watching this video 10 times, its kinda funny but thats true. i love your video man..keep up the good work chris and im looking for your nxt video..god bless
Oh I miss this place💕 the people, the food , the bar, the view , the pool ( though I didn’t swim much) I loved playing mini golf and watching the planes ✈️ fly over every 15 mins😆 and the seafood palace nxt door. Will definitely stay here again. Thankyou #sofitelmanila. No foie gra or oysters though🤔
This is gonna make me book a room here when I go back next year. I've seen that pool hundreds of times in the back of the Philippine Air Lines magazine when I was growing up. ;)
That's right. Metro Manila is huge. When someone say they are from Manila, that could mean that they are in Makati or QC or Paranaque. There is a city called Manila within metro Manila but it's ewww. As a foreigner, I would suggest you stay in Makati, BGC or Ortigas so you won't be traumatized. Hehehe.. People could get defensive but that's the truth.
I stumbled upon your vlogs and I was wondering why you looked so familiar...... you guys are from Vancouver and I know I've seen you walking around a handful of times! Right on! Ps. loved my stay at the Sofitel too a few years back!
Never imagined that these videos would be the start of a multi million dollar business. ANYBODY can do it and I want to show you how in my Free 1 Hour Training:lostcreatoracademy.com/freetraining

On behalf of my countrymen, thank you Christian for promoting Manila and for loving the Philippines!
Just so obsessed with your channel even though I don't always comment!

Christian, you are an incredibly talented filmmaker. Your editing skills are beyond belief, thank you for sharing this with the world. Love from the UK. Keep up the good work brother🌍
Sofitel is the only 5 star hotel in Manila? Man, nice video blog, but gotta do your research. You're giving wrong information.
There's Many 5 star hotels in manila like HYATT hotel in City of dreams :)
Shangrali? for sure
+Iaron Monge Lol. Crown and Nobu hotel is much better than hyatt.
Crown is only a 4.5 star hotel
Yes, Fairmont, Manila Hotel, Raffles, Shangri-La

+Andrew Christiansen Yes, You are right. Sofitel is in Pasay. The city of Manila has 5 star hotels - Manila Hotel, Manila Diamond Hotel, Pan Pacific Hotel.
Andrew Christiansen Pasay is part of metro manila. metro or mega manila is not the city of manila.
Good for them. xx
