Join me on board to see the Wreck of the SS Richard Montgomery munitions ship which floundered off the coast of Sheerness Kent carrying an explosive cargo. The ship ran aground on a sand bank and for years there have been debates about what to do with the volatile wreck and its cargo. Recently a documentary was filmed by ‪@rosskemptv6795‬ which has yet to be aired, we are waiting for this episode! This June the masts are set to be removed due to the fact that they are rotting and cause a real threat to the ship if they fall. The video i have shot, was believe it or not a summers day, but as so often happens the weather turned cold out to sea and it because hard to keep the camera still at some points.

So interesting Tracy. Thank you so much for taking us on your exploration. Such a scary situation. I hope it never erupts in a giant explosion. I would love to visit your beautiful island some day. 💖

This was very interesting. But I had to fast forward it because I was getting seasick because of my motion sickness. I did enjoy the bits and pieces I could watch. Hugs and love from my little corner of Kentucky.

If the bombs on this wreck are detonated, the resulting explosion would cause a tsunami down the Thames estuary and surrounding areas that could potentially cause damage up to the tens of pounds!!!!!!

Lovely video , the masts have not gone yet we sailed around them last year , the wreck has reputedly broke into three parts now and Sheerness will one day lose its famous tourist attraction in the shape of the masts as soon as they have worked out how to remove them without disturbing the wreck and where to display them afterwards .

I wonder if it actually is the threat they say it is

Almost 20 years ago, I was touring the Medway with a band from Chicago, and we had a band practice on the Isle of Sherness. I remember going to the beach and seeing what looked like weird scaffolding tilted over in the distance. Later i learned the history of the wreck and have been curious about it since. I hope they find a solution soon. We have a liberty sunk in Lake Michigan and it is rusted fragile as an egg shell. Thank you for posting. I hope to come over and see it again.

they have still not removed the masts, I think they are worried about the vibration and cutting off just as much as them falling onto the wreck. Glad they did not go bang too lol
