    Walt Jr. is legitimately a great person and wonderful son, the only person in this show that doesn't deserve an oz of the suffering he endures. His father misses his birthday and his first response is "my Dad would've been here, he might not be ok, i'm going to go check on him" and Walt can't even say happy birthday but instead call him Jesse 😢

    29:26 In the podcast, the editor Kelley Dixon tells how Vince wanted it to kind of sound like machine gun fire. So she kept removing single frames until you get this really janky looking shooting. It was touch and go, but she loved how it was turning out. Then they completely had to redo the sound for it because it didn't match at all, so they put gunshots in where they seemed to be needed and Jesse's actor came in to do the heavy breathing required. I thought it was really interesting how it turned out. They praised her for the result but Kelley herself said she just fooled around and got lucky it started to look good.

    Couldn't help but grin through that Gus-centered intro discussion about how villains are so much cooler when they beat the odds -- knowing what was about to go down in this episode 😁 (Also Kailyn's expressions are just the best 😂)

    The poison scene is in my opinion, one of the most badass moments in the entire show. Gus waited 20ish years to get revenge and he even ingested poison himself.

    • @dereknolin5986

      It bothers me a little because it's totally a "movie moment" and not realistic. The great Gus was taking a huge gamble that Don Eladio would even drink the tequila at all, let alone drink it right at that moment, or that only a few people would drink it and not most of the armed guards. Also, in real life, the poison would take effect at different rates based on each individual's metabolism and body mass; they wouldn't be synchronized to such a small degree. You just have to suspend disbelief, but usually the show doesn't ask that of its audience like that.

    • @JaymzShikari

      @@dereknolin5986 in the culture of the cartel not drinking would be a huge insult to both Eladio and Fring, no-one was risking that. Them not offering would also be insulting
      As for the difference in action time, it is proportionate to the speed of action of the poison. Something that fast acting would have a close to negligible difference in delay
      It's not perfectly accurate, but not nearly as far off as you think. 99% pure meth being manufactured in a motorhome or meth turning blue is far further from the truth

    Just a fun fact. You can actually stay at Don Eladio's house it's an AirBnB in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The actual AirBnB is a cabin in the back by the pool it's part of a few houses called Las Placitas. I actually stayed here about a month ago when my Gf and I went touring the city for Breaking Bad spots.

      I find it amazing how 1 TV show put a whole city on the map and made it a tourist attraction largely because of this show. I'm sure before Breaking Bad (and later Better Call Saul) most non local people probably never even heard of Albuquerque or knew nothing about it and now the city is very well known because of it. I don't know if there is another show that made such an impact on a whole city. The only thing that comes close in my mind is what LOTR was for New Zealand, but LOTR was already an established and well known book series, while Breaking Bad is a compeletly original story and had to start from scratch.

    common fan theory is the thing Gus took at the beginning of the pool thing was capsules of Activated Charcoal, to help absorb some of the poison he took. he threw it up anyway but its a very good safety measure. also helps on the off chance you ever eat or take something that is slightly poisonous. it helps buy time. also the episode for me that 100% confirms that walt does see Jesse as a wayward son in a way. he may be an asshole who cant stop manipulating him but he still cares for jesse in a fucked up way.

    • @elbruces
      @elbruces 7 місяців тому +3

      Movie poison works automatically and instantly. In the real world, no poison works like that. You can take measures to slow it down or delay it, but there's still a risk. This was realistic.

    • @jrepka01
      @jrepka01 7 місяців тому +2

      Activated charcoal fits perfectly in this spot. It is highly porous, with an active surface area of several thousand square meters per gram and can adsorb significant amounts of toxins. The more quickly it is taken after poison exposure the better (obviously if you ingest a tablet minutes before consuming poison it will work better. Afterward it's much better to expel the charcoal through vomiting or stomach pump than to allow it to pass through the digestive system. Every action taken here by Gus points directly to AC.
      This was a meticulously planned operation, clearly Gus (as if we already didn't know) is a formidable opponent for Walt, or for anyone.

    Walt was really sorry for the fight with Jesse he still thinks of him as family and regrets not helping and protecting him this time, he knows he was wrong for the way he always treats him and is sad and scared that he might actually die in Mexico and there is nothing he can do about it that's why he apologized to his son its his way of apologizing to Jesse that's why he called his son Jesse at the end if that speach and his son looked so confused.

  • @ImEricBro
    @ImEricBro 7 місяців тому +36

    Walt's apology wasn't actually to Jr. for missing his birthday, it was actually to Jesse. That's why Walt calls him Jesse when he lays down. Walt regretted treating Jesse so badly, but his ego prevents him from apologizing to anyone. It's only when his inhibitions are lowered that it comes to the surface. Jesse is the only person Walt ever apologizes to, although not to his face - only vicariously through Jr.
