The name "AFRICA" is AFAR, that is Canfar, an east African tribe who used to trade with Helenics in ancient times, then Helenics called them " Afarigos "
In which time exactly happened that, because as a Greek, the only fact I know & ever knew, is that the discovered or the known part of Africa just called as Libya or Ethiopia from the ancient Greeks and the today's Tanzania area, as Azania. Also the today's Ethiopia as Abyssinia!!!Nothing else far from those!!!
NO. Africa is the name the Greeks used for ancient Libya (the word Libya itself conversely was used for all of North Africa west of Egypt) and it is derived from the Ifri, a Berber tribe whose name means "cave-dwellers" and to this very day there is a city close to Tripoli, Libya called "Yifrin." In antiquity the rest of Africa where Black-skinned people lived was known as Aethiopia. At the time of Rome's war with Carthage and later during the Muslim conquests, Africa was the name of modern day Tunisia. (Scipio Africanus, the Roman general who defeated Hannibal, was called The African because he conquered what was then known as "Africa") It is only very recently that the word began to be used to refer to the whole continent. So originally, Africans had nothing to do with Blackness. Seeing Black Americans calling themselves "African Americans" makes no sense whatsoever when you keep all of the above in mind.

Respect to this man, he knew his fake friends who only wanted opportunity to rob him in the future
Amin's rule was characterised by rampant human rights abuses, including political repression, ethnic persecution, extrajudicial killings, as well as nepotism, corruption, and gross economic mismanagement. Respect?
Was that before or after Amin robbed the Ugandan people blind? I remember those times, unlike, it would appear, most of the contributors here.

Afar is one of the great region in east africa it's a part of Great Ethiopia 🇪🇹
I thought it cane from the name of a French explorer of Africa
@@lockandloadlikehell No.
NO. Africa is the name the Greeks used for ancient Libya (the word Libya itself conversely was used for all of North Africa west of Egypt) and it is derived from the Ifri, a Berber tribe whose name means "cave-dwellers" and to this very day there is a city close to Tripoli, Libya called "Yifrin."
In antiquity the rest of Africa where Black-skinned people lived was known as Aethiopia.
At the time of Rome's war with Carthage and later during the Muslim conquests, Africa was the name of modern day Tunisia. (Scipio Africanus, the Roman general who defeated Hannibal, was called The African because he conquered what was then known as "Africa")
It is only very recently that the word began to be used to refer to the whole continent. So originally, Africans had nothing to do with Blackness. Seeing Black Americans calling themselves "African Americans" makes no sense whatsoever when you keep all of the above in mind.

Amin has more haters than worshippers and for good reason
Nice man
THE GREAT MAN WHO SAID THE TRUTH
Well, firstly he was a loyal servant for the British prior to independence - during his military service. Secondly, Britain was rapidly giving its Colonies up when Uganda became independent. The two World Wars and their collosal debt, coupled with American aacendancy were the two biggest factors for the collapse imo. However, all Empires rise and fall. C'est la vie.
Uganda became independent on October 9th 1962. Idi Amin did not become president until 1971 after initiating a military coup. That is hardly defeating the British Empire. His biggest monument was a huge minaret that was so badly built it curved like a banana and could not be finished, plus bullet holes in Kampala University Uganda was in turmoil with a wrecked economy until after Museveni finally re-united it in 1986.
