“Gachhe Bhar Bendhe De Na” says, if we want to enjoy Life in its most undiluted sweetest essence, then we should follow an open, receptive and tolerant approach towards others’ perspectives, just like an empty clay pot that keeps collecting sap from trees till it brims over. It points out the possibility of abundance of ideas from younger people, thus highlighting the importance of patiently nurturing and supporting the natural growth process. Similarly, the song asks us to respect the wisdom of the elderly experienced generation and compares them with older trees which produce very little sap, but that of the purest quality, that is, they are able to summarise their life’s struggles and learnings into a nutshell for us, thus providing guidance to go on with our actions wisely and smoothly. On the other hand, it is also essentially a Deho-tatva song, wherein a man’s body has been personified as a tree and the peak of his satisfaction as the sweet sap of the tree. It asks us not to ignore the young men as their sap is in abundance. The song suggests not to disregard older men as their sap, even if less in quantity, is of the sweetest and purest quality. It also advises men to tie a pot to the tree, meaning, to practise control, restrain and discipline, along with driving this passion slowly, with pauses, in order to know it in its finest form.
This song has been written and composed by Ananta Gosai, as is evident from the lyrics - “Ananta tai bhabche bose, dheere-dheere kop maro na” meaning “Hence, Ananta ponders and says, slit the bark slowly.” This is a common way in Baul Music to label a song with the name of its creator.

Duality is a common theme in Baul song lyrics, with allegorical narratives using metaphors. ‘Deho-tatva’ - a recurring premise in Baul lyrics - is a concept of portraying nature and the universe through our bodies, which reflects the immortality of the cycle of life and death. It connects sex and spirituality - spiritual union of the individual with the Divine - to attain Moksha.
