Are Maseratis as BAD As Everyone Says? | Owning A Maserati Levante for A Week Review

  • Are Maseratis good cars? Maseratis are expensive to maintain. Maseratis are bad. Are Maseratis reliable? Are Maseratis fast? All these comments are brought up in recent conversation about Maseratis. I think a lot of these questions are subjective, and also can be answered differently depending on your own personal situation. I got to drive a Maserati Levante for a week, and I really liked the experience. In this video I give a full review on the Maserati Levante. It’s a luxury vehicle, and with that in mind it carries a high price tag. It’s definitely not a bang for your buck car, but that’s not the market that car is designed for. The cars has power, sport features, and a luxurious interior. The car feels expensive when you drive it as it should. Is it reliable in the long run? The car had 50k miles on it and it felt like I was running strong, I can for certain say it’s reliable but I didn’t feel like the car was going to leave me stranded on the side of the road. Hopefully you enjoy the video and my Maserati Levante review.

Majority of the people who say Maserati’s aren’t good cars have never owned one. I bought one used with 30k miles, I put 40k+ miles on mine in a little over a year taking a bunch of road trips and I’ve never had a problem

Add to that Majority of these people really can’t afford them in the first place. So when something goes bad they can’t get it fixed.

@@ABell-q8g the only problem I’ve had with it is a dead battery because I didn’t drive it for a week. I plan on trading it in for a newer used Levante though, I’d like more leg room

Have a newer Quattroporte and I love it. Owned a Gran Turismo and zero issues outside of maintenance items. They get a bad rep & their electronics are not Japanese quality but it goes the job. Maintenance will obviously be more expensive with an Italian car, but I have no regrets for the two Maseratis I've owned already. Considering a Levante as a second SUV as well.

I had a friend who had an old Maserati. He had a lot of problems with it that he couldn't afford. My old boss had a newer Maserati, drove over 40k miles on it and had no issues. Best advice is get a newer one.

I got it right now....took it with 25k miles on bord, no problem till 80k miles...last 2 weeks 8k in repair and now another 4 to repair AC....so they are good cars, but under 70k miles

I came here for the review on the levante…. But when you compare a macan in terms of comfort and size, they are in two different categories.

I enjoy my 2018 Maserati levante. Definitely not a everyday car, so it's parked mostly. 2 yrs now and just changed the battery. I guess I'm about to start doing my own oil changes as well. Sport mode is my mode 😂❤

I'm going to say No. And yes.
No they're not that bad if you use some common sense, have the means to upkeep it promptly at the dealership, or the tools and know-how and ambition to do a LOT of maintenance yourself. and to be sure it's quite a lot of maintenance to be done. But a modern v6 maserati? I do not believe it's any worse off than other european elite rides. There was a decade where they actually WERE as bad as everyone said, then they adopted ferrari engines and it wasn't so much better but at least it was as fantastic as tragic. And now that they have the ferrari built chrysler block engines that use a lot of chrysler parts it's not even bad to upkeep once you wrap your head around all the packaging and the specialty bolts and torx sockets and torx heads and hex heads and all the push pin xmas trees ect. it isn't so very bad.
In other news: People don't really trust 10 year old 150 thousand mile S class mercedes to do much in the way of daily driving do they? Of course not.
Truthfully there are some who Should Not own one. It will be disapointing for them just past 1 maintenance cycle because it isn't a basic car to maintain. Owning one; you will learn how to do it yourself, or you will be parted with a lot of money to keep it going, or it will break your heart And wallet when it fails. you won't do 20,000 mile oil changes in this car 5 x in a row and have a mildly OK engine like a toyota. It's probably not going to last Two 20,000 mile cycles of oil. Even at 8 and 9 quarts capacity. They're not engineered that way.
The modern car-guy with a toolset and a OBD2 that works on Maserati's, can achieve 90% of all the car needs sourcing their own parts and doing their own work. And with most mid 10's Maserati's that haven't had that catastrophic oiling issue some of the early 14/15 models have had will absolutely keep theirs running up and beyond 100k miles.
And for the new Neptune series powerplants? I suppose we will see in the next 10 years or so :) I think they're going to do just fine. Granted the generally huge output of the engines makes me think they won't last as long as the 3.0 M153 engines, but I want to also be optimistic that maybe progress is getting the same sort of longevity out of the neptune that puts out heroic (500+ hp) numbers. We'll see. :)
If you can get 100,000 miles out of a neptune, and more specifically, the MC20 and the new wild looking granturismo WITH the Neptune, it will really underscore a difference between a Mazzer and the other elite brands that are glass cannons in supercar form so to speak. you don't see 100k mile Mclaren's and Ferrari's.
