GOTHIC MERMAID (with a black mermaid tail) - Swimming in a Moonsong Magic tail for the first time!

- GOTHIC MERMAID SWIMMING IN A COLD LAKE - Testing out my new Moonsong Magic Mermaid Tail in Lake Michigan (during late October). This is video footage of me swimming in my black fabric mermaid tail by Moonsong Magic in Lake Michigan on a chilly October day. Normally, I would post an unboxing video before releasing a swimming video, but as it turns out... squeezing my day-job, makeup prep, unboxing video and a swimming video all into one day does not yield the best results (at least not for the unboxing video!).
*Note: The water was very, VERY cold that day. After only a short time of swimming, my body became numb and I had to get out for safety reasons. So, please excuse my jerky motions (my body is not as flexible when cold). More videos of this tail coming in the summer of 2022!

I do the New Year’s Day Polar Bear Swim here in Nova Scotia every year, but I’ve never done it in a tail, and I applaud any mermaid that can swim in frigid lake waters at this time of year. Thank you Phantom for not only having the courage to do this but also showing your humble side with the bloopers at the end (I laughed even though I wish I hadn’t). So happy to see you pushing the mermaid boundaries all year long. 😃🖤🧜♀️
Oh my gods, Moonsong's tails are beautiful! You look so ethereal in this video. And fin flops to you for swimming in late October! I hung my fins up in September because Huron was testing me.

Oh jeeeze! Imagine other mermaids living in the lake, making those same startled chilly noises when they come up for air, and the humans in awe like, "what a majestic sounding creature, I wonder what they are saying!" Then followed by the mermaids giving them the most annoyed side eye.

Helo! This tail is absolutley stunning, I found your video after falling absolutley in love with the tail on the moonsong magic website. I read your blog post that said that you opted to not have vinyl in your fluke - I was just wondering if your tail has a sewn in monofin pocket or if you left it open so that you could add your own vinyl insert if you wanted to (mostly for land shoots). I'm hoping to order my tail this week but am torn between the fluke options! Thank you!

I love your new tail! I have been thinking I might want to do a professional mermaid job. Really merman. I just need to get a finfun tail first. I’m just waiting to see if the pandemic can go away or slow down before I go to a pool. Also I need either need to find other mermaids in my Ariel or get a girlfriend to swim with. I have Enviromental education experience. I’m great with kids! I also love marine life, and know a lot about pirates. 🧜♀️🧜♂️🧜😃

I think I might literally die if I tried swimming in a Michigan lake right now. How the heck do you handle it? Is hypothermia not a thing?
It is dangerous for sure! But luckily, this was filmed in October, so the water still had some warmth left (but not much 😂). I've been doing this for a while, so I'm very in tune with my body and know when it's time to get out. And, I had a hot car and hot water waiting for me only a few yards away. Plus, my house is only a mile from the water, so I was able to go home and take a warm shower too. 😁

Good guess! 😁🖤 And no, I did not go with the vinyl option. But I'll say, the tail swims very well and it wasn't a struggle at all- not even in cold water (which tends to make swimming more difficult in general). The only tricky thing was trying to do fluke flops out of the water, since the fluke is so long. But that's a minor detail that's not a negative, but just an observation. 🥰

Love this. I have been looking for a black tail for a long time. It seem most all tails are blue, green or pink. Dang it, just check them out and looks like they discontinued the tail. No page on it is there. The search continues.
Unless I'm remembering a different tail, I think she had this one custom made.

I'm using the Mahina, in black, of course! Hehehe! I'll admit that the monofin causes some pain from skin rubbing, but it is a great fin overall. :)

Hey Kevin, did you read the title of the video? I'm literally testing out a fabric mermaid tail that a friend sent me. As for the "struggling to swim," this was filmed on October 22nd in Northern Michigan. The water temperature was very cold, as was the air temperature. It isn't easy moving when your limbs are losing feeling. Next time, please read before commenting!
