    Absolutely the best videos I've viewed on Weber carbs. You give gentle, human understandable information, not ego. Thank you ! I can't wait for the next video in your TVR series.

    Hi, great videos by the way. I have a MK1 Ford Capri with the 3.0 Essex engine and the 38 dgas carburettor. Seeing you explanation on the anti stall I wonder if the reason for my engine stalling every time I stop at traffic lights is because of an issue with the anti stall. When the engine is at operating temperature it idles fine but every time I slow down approaching a junction or traffic lights the engine stalls. Would be very grateful if you could comment.
    Thanks
    Paul

    I was one of the guys that asked for a dgas Weber tutorial.
    Thank you for all the details.
    I have a 32/36 that's 99% the same.
    As someone else said i knew before but now i understand!

      I'll second to that. I'm having problems with a 32/36 DGAV20 that I'm not getting to run properly. Similar to this with a membrane on the 2nd port that I'm not sure how it works and what it does. It's the anti stall circuit, that was news to me.
      Thanks for all the useful information.

    hey,
    i installed the carburettor exactly you describe it. But in the idle the aceleration pump valve drops gas out. what could be wrong with it?

    • @D3Sshooter
      @D3Sshooter  Рік тому

      Could be many things, float level, needle valve not closing, to high fuel pressure from the feul pomp .

    Great video & instructions. 1 question> To me it looks like the anti stall membrane cover needs to be rotated 180 deg as there is a port sticking out on the flange below the vacuum attachment tube ( which can be seen at 11:44) which corresponds to a port in the carb body ( which can be seen at 22:09 to the right of the membrane flange , below the idle jet holder hole) ??

    Man, i've just installed my weber 38/38 (spaniard one) on a nissan e16 engine... runs great on idle, and cruising... but when i hit the gas to the floor it bogs quite a while and then it starts to come up gradually, until up in the revs where it's running lean... have checked for vacuum leaks, float level, ignition and everything seems good... it works ok if I pressed the gas to the floor kind of slowly (no bog there) but above 4000 it's lean again... ¿do you suggest that I increase main jet size?? Thank in advance. Greetings from México

    I see there’s a retro throttle body EFI conversion kit available for the Weber DGSA 38 from a company their in the UK 🇬🇧, outside of cost what is your thoughts 💭? I have had friends here in the US 🇺🇸 who have used EFI conversions and say they will never go back to a manual carburetor.

    • @D3Sshooter
      @D3Sshooter  3 роки тому +1

      indeed they exist and work well. you will need additional sensors, and that is where most issues are. imo, a well tuned carb is as good, but yes those units perform well

  • @JohnDavis-ed5sg

    Learnt such a lot - again! It makes it so much easier to do these jobs if you understand the function and operation of the parts, something that manuals do not (and they would be like encyclopedias if they did!) tell you. So thanks and looking forward to the next video.

  • @lackomalacko

    Super nice video again! It's so easy to understand every bit of this as you speak about the different parts. I almost bought a Haynes manual on Weber carburetors because of your vids (I don't have any vehicle with weber carbs... :D ), but they are so interesting, full with these precise mechanical control systems. I'm not really into car carbs, but don't you need some type of thread locker or something on the butterfly screws? I would be scared that they unscrew from vibrations and fall into the intake.

    • @D3Sshooter

    Hello Steve - I thoroughly enjoyed your video. I have a question for you: Once I reach 100kmh, my TVR Taimar starts to stutter. It runs fine up to the point. I cleaned out the carb the other month, after it had sat for a while and didn't have any issue at higher speeds. What are your thoughts?

  • @nl6725
    @nl6725 2 роки тому

    great informative explanatory video thanks. One question though - when adjusting the float level, if this has already been done there is a possibility that the metal bits are slightly bent out of shape. When adjusting Dellorto DHLA carbs someone has given a measurement of 27mm from a point A to the surface of the fuel. Is there a similar depth measurement of fuel in the chamber of the 38 DGAS? the procedure is very time consuming i.e. adjust the float, fill the carb via the pump, take the float chamber cover off, measure the depth (in the Dellorto case 27mm from the top of the jet holder base) adjust the float if not right and repeat (again and again sometimes). I'd love to know where the fuel level needs to come to relative to the main emulsion tubes in order to fine tune the running mixture.

    Sir! You are truly the PHD of Weber carburetors! I have a question for you if you have the time? I have a beautiful Volvo P1800es I have converted to Weber 38/38 dges. The Weber is Chinese and not from Spain! I was fooled on this purchase. About 1000 miles on b20 engine. I have played with this carb for a couple of years now and still get hesitation in mid range RPM, otherwise runs pretty well. I have .47 idle jets at this time. I tried .55,.50,.45. Now my mixture screw is 3/4 turn out. Runs great, but still hesitates on hard acceleration? I live at 5000 foot elevation in the mountains of Arizona. Any ideas? I am going to run your videos again and disassemble it piece by piece. Are Italian Weber’s used in other countries? I travel to Colombia SA ? Do they use them there? Once again professor, Thank you very much😎

    • @D3Sshooter
      @D3Sshooter  3 роки тому +1

      Sorry for the late reply , as i was away for work. But thanks for the comments. The Spanish and Chinese Webers are both of poor quality, try to stay clear from them and rebuild the old Italian version. Acceleration is aided by the acceleration pomp, I suspect that you have a membrane failure, that is why its a good idea to rebuild the unit entirely. There are kids available to do so

    Excellent video and I've just gone over mine again to double check a few things...noticed you might have missed a seal washer off the top of your accelerator y jet...I'm sure its a banjo type i e one washer top and bottom. Also top tip I'd like to pass on....lip balm on the gaskets stops them sticking especially when in and out a lot. ..old hot rod tip. I have a few sets of carbs for my rs2000 and the 38dgas ran the best, currently I've got a side drought 45 on a lynx manifold that's running nice...I do have a set of IDF44 which I've overhauled but just can't get them signing 100% again even using air sync and measuring the progression setpoints on the butterflies... Be great if you could do a video on their specifics ,Excellent knowledge and great for all levels.👍👍👍
