- There are many factors why India struggled to compete with China and these such as
Education and Innovation- it is no arguing China has invested heavily in education and research. Being a teacher in China I have had a first-hand experience of the quality of education and drive of the students here compared to back home or in India.
Sadly, access to quality education in India is challenging despite the country having the largest population of young people in the world. According to the United Nations, more than half of India’s population is below the age of 25, and around 65% of the population is below the age of 3.
China invested in the right things such as science, technology, and innovation. Sadly, India doesn’t come close, but they have bright-minded people who focus their skills on scamming people due to a lack of opportunity across the country.
The Chinese government is involved heavily in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.

The nation that has guts and ambition is Ethiopia. A few years ago the country was probably going to default on construction of power plants, roads, railroads, and free trade factory parks. Ethiopia's leaders had the courage and said we must do this. Now look at the results per capita gdp increase by 3x to 4x in 10 years. The next 10 years will go up much more at a rapid pace.

India struggled for one most important factor.... One party in China against many parties India. Mr. Xi follows and carry out the party's objectives and Mr Modi got scammed on every turn and didn't know what will happen after 4 years. His projects are seldom long terms with many enemies wanted his post. Xi is not a dictator because he was selected and votes in by a group of people to perform all the objectives. For countries with huge populations, democracy doesn't bode well with them because politicians tend to take short term decisions for quick results (but most of the time not viable on the long run) while their long term projects are overturned by the next party in power. As such, they end up wasting time and resources for lil to no gain.
On the other side, the centralised system of China can implement any plan with horizons of more than 5 years and will see that those projects come to fruition! For example, the Chinese wanted to improve literacy rates across the country and that plan was carried out over more than one generation, without any issue along the way! Singapore also uses such a system (centralised command) and that's why it's so successful.

My 2 cents. I think the biggest difference between the two countries is people's mindset. Through so many ups and downs, Chinese people, especially the Chinese leaders, are accustomed to facing big challeges and difficulties, and even eargerly looking forward to, revolutionary changes and disruptive reforms. Meanwhile in India, national independence was earned through non-voilent and noncooperation movements, changes are usually happening in a more gradual, slow and passive way, because India hasn't faced big crisis, violent revolutions and radical reforms in its recent history. People rarely want to get out of their comfort zone, because they don't have to. The mindset of the Indian people is more about opportunistic thinking than strategic thinking, and too much diversity, conflicting interests and chaotic democracy lead to low efficiency and shortsight (sometimes self-defeating) decisions.

I personally have worked with foreign workers from both India and China. On a scale of 10 for productivity, chinese workers maybe a 8.5 out of 10 while indian worker at most 6.5 of 10. It's their attitude and general work ethics that a main difference. A chinese will push themselves to meet a given deadline while indian worker tend to adopt a more laid-back attitude on top of requiring more supervision. When a given task is completed the chinese worker is more likely to offer assistance to other worker, that can't be expected from a indian worker. This is because the chinese worker places team/company above self...a starking difference by comparison.🤔

One mistake and misconception in the video: As a foreigner, you are legally allowed to talk about politics. There is no ban in talking politics in China. What is legal or not legal comes when it involves domestic publication of your political content and unauthorized public gathering/protest that involves large number of people. Content destined to be published in domestic (Chinese) channel must follow the law and there are some illegal content when it comes to politics, but if you are publishing on youtube, these laws don't apply and you can say anything you want about Chinese politics. There is a fair amount of Chinese haters living in China, and they publish their hate on youtube. But of course, if your channel is big enough, you will receive alot of hate from the locals and the nationalist which might threaten you. But this goes with almost every people in most countries. If you are a guest and you insult the local, they are likely to hate you and some might resort to extreme measures.

Ethiopia soon to pass India in per capita annual income only a $850 difference now. All the big developments in the country with many mega projects and together with economic reforms just open the country to more foreign direct investment. On top of that you have a similar Asian economic model millions of future small business people trading with the world. That is a recipe for a mega boom in Ethiopia. Ethiopia can easily beat out India in every category because the ambitions of its population, few years back one lady computer engineer from the west started IT programming for very young children at 6 years old. Now maybe she will start with AI programming classes for older teenage kids.

Political Governance System and Philosophical literature driving the masses and it's leadership in China is the sole reason why it's so better than India in many aspects. Socialism dissolves all division and direct society towards single goal, India, as the country and masses lacks a ultimate fundamental goal. Hence, it is what it is today. China will not stop, it'll surpass USA in few decades. And at that time, it'll demoralising for Indians to even think about competing with largest economy in the world.

Much of what people say about India is the same as what they said about China: poor, over populated, backward, etc. China has proven this wrong, and India will do the same. India will rise in its own way given time. However, complacency is always a danger, and hegemony an illusion in a constantly changing world. We can never be too comfortable, and friends today can turn adversaries tomorrow. China is experiencing shifting relationships as former trade partners are closing doors, and new trade partners gaining influence. Flow with the river, but learn to read the river ahead.

100% agree with your point on the education infrastructure. I think the western media often highlights India's population surpassing China, they seem to have collectively overlooked the significant disparities between the two countries, not to mention the challenging circumstances faced by women in India, where often we see people there are still practicing gang rape as this roots back to forms of punishment in Hinduism .
