Thanks for the review, I have both a CT-F950 and a CT-F1250 that I plan on overhauling and I am trying to gather as much information as I can before I start. Would you know if the Play/REC heads on these two decks are the same?
I'm pretty sure they're the same. Double-checking in the service manuals for the part number, the sub-head base assembly on the 950 is RXB-255, while the same is RXB-212. However, thinking that these were mass-production, and actually looking at them and how they work in the circuit, I would expect them to be interchangeable. But not the 900 -- its head assembly has a different erase head; probably because the 900 can't record Metal tapes.
Yes exactly, Its very hard to find similar pinch roller as it uses a kind of spacer on both sides,, I faced this issue with my recently acquired 950,, i ended up with a faulty pb/rec head, What a bad luck,, if by any chance you have a head for ct-f950/1000/1250 Pls. let me know :)
The head might not be bad. How do you know it's bad? I ask, because I talked (via eBay messages) to a guy who was parting-out his deck, because a service technician told him the rec/pb head was no good anymore. I asked him to throw it in with other parts, since it wasn't good (I figured I could test it and see). Turned out, it was just fine. There must have been something else wrong with the deck. I'm keeping it for the time I get a deck to refurb and the head is really bad. How did you check/verify it's bad? Just curious.
Well the issue was with one channel ( right if i recall ) so it was easier to me to diagnose the problem, I took the 2 wires going out of the play head to the first terminal on the main board and swapped them right to left and left to right, the other channel ( left) dead ,, to make the story shorter 😊I already found sendust head that is used in ct-f850 and 900 series new in box got it several days ago fixed and it’s working now just fine ,,
Well, stop dreaming and pick-up one that's been refurbished on eBay (look at their feedback first). Or, better yet, buy one that needs work and follow my videos. 9/10 times, the mechanism just needs new belts, idler tire, and pinch rollers. Since these are so massive, they are easy to work on.

Cody, do you do repairs for people? I have the CTF 900 and when I turn it on one of the spindles spins the stop button does not stop it from Spinning.
