Great video Jef. I agree with your thoughts on the side skirt armor. It was a great idea to cut those in plastic. I look forward to seeing your build progress.
At the moment I'm pretty far in getting close to the finished model (the Heller version). I first dreaded building the tracks but they were a lot of almost therapeutic fun. I lost almost no pins during pushing them through the links. I'm using two dark yellow spray cans of 400 ml, looks like I won't need much of the second can. I even used a grey metallic spray can for the tracks and they don't look bad at all. Most parts have been assembled. I never liked foto etched parts, I will use the parts I can use, and scratchbuild the ones that are really too tiny even in 1/16 scale. Not sure what to make of the stuff the ''schützen'' are made of. I don't like the bare yellow, so I'll try one of the yellow/brown/green camouflage patterns.
Nope, the Das Werk one is better in my opinion. I purchased both and sent this one back after comparing them. The side skirts is the biggest advantage of this one.
Hi Arnel It’s not mentioned anywhere. Not on the box, not on the instructions. From what I personally know (not much😀), I think it’s got to be early or maybe mid but not sure. It was a good question though so I’ll do some research. Didn’t had the time to get into it deeper. Maybe I can find out by the time I start building. Stay tuned.
Devintiv not a late 😉 but as far as I could see around June 43. I will watch the build with interest because for me this Kit looks like a wild mix between Alkett and Miag as far as I could see in the short time the parts where showed.
Mine is in the post. I think it is more accurate and refined than the das werk kit. You have a (super slight) Flemish accent, are you Belgian (as you also worked for Verlinden)?Pistol port on the right hand side of the hull is superfluous. Das werk has none, Trumpeter had it on both sides. Should only be on the driver side. I like they provided the drive wheel center cap as separate. Like most probably, I prefer the look of all the bolts in plain view. I thought the tires were normal plastic already when I saw them, thanks for clarifying that, good news!
I got the one from Heller and it is exactly the same. 👍🏻
Definitely looks like an awesome kit. I try not to buy the really expensive kits, but I may have to make an exception. Great review.
Thanks!
Nice video (thanks) as I am looking forward to this kit tomorrow. I too like the plastic side armor plating instead of brass or PE!
Have a plentiful and healthy New Year!

Outstanding video and presentation.

Cool video. Anybody ever tell you that you resemble the actor on Chicago Fire who plays Lieutenant Herrmann?
How is the detail on this kit? It seems 1/16 should be more crisp, is it?

Just curious Jef if this build is for an early, mid or late Stug III, Ausf. G? Thanks for confirming.

@@jefvscorner5148 Thanks Jef! I really appreciate you responding to my question. Keep Calm and Scale Model On!

I purchased both kits and actually just sent this one back today. The Das Werk kit has much crisper detail.
This looks like the trumpy kit
