A nice concept about splitting against a stripped 8-point or mid point. Easy to visualise.

Good lesson. You might add some examples of a frozen holding anchor, where you often see expert players put blots in front of a bar-anchor for sake of flexibility, where it would be too costly because of the many return-shots to hit from the bar-anchor.
You also sometimes see the same concept in backgames where the attacker puts a checker at 6-away from the high anchor when it is stripped, as the defender cannot yet hit it, because his front position is vulenerable or not yet ready. If the defender does not hit, the attacker can make this point.

Thank you for this video. It´s an easy but effective playing concept. This shows how important spare checkers are. Keep going on with your great videos. Waiting for next wednesday 🙂

Very helpful video. Why is leaving the 8pt to make the 5 with 3-1 correct but not correct to leave the 7pt to make the 5 with 2-1? (First example) Too many shots even for the best point? Thank you.

Yes and blocking sixes. Sometimes it is correct though to make the 5 point with 2-1, as an inner board point often trumps an outer board point.

The move on the left at 4:45.. can you compare this to a move where you have the 7, 6, 5 pts and have the option to SLOT at 8? Personally I feel like that’s worth it, but splitting from 8 is an error. Why is that?
