I know nothing about what you do. I'm a stock trader in the US. But I love The Grand Tour, Top Gear, Drivetribe, Foodtribe, etc... And I just watch your videos out of curiosity. And they are fantastic.
The C-stand is great but the gobo head is usually mounted the other way. the fixed part on the C -stand and the rotatable part on the boom arm, mounted so that the tightening handle is on the right so when there is weight on it tightens the grip head not loosens it. If mounted correctly you actually only need the sandbag on the bottom of the stand and then you can also pan the boom arm separately from the bottom section. But all in all lovely setup
Keep up the great work Lucy! Love how comfortable you're getting in front of the camera. Also kinda scary you just whipping a box cutter out of your hoody... I guess you have to keep your fans under control somehow!
So.... If James May aka Captain Slow (the boring guy) comes, it is all good. If he does not come, your life is boring'? I dunno. James May is a great guy, produced some very nice stuff. But, in some ways he is boring.
I have the same sandbags. To fill minebi bought a bag of childrens play pit sand. To till the sandbags I first lines the weight pocket with a ziplock Sandwick bag and then filled the ziplock bag before zipping up the same bag. I have made Rachel sand bag weight upto 6kg. The bags are also still mushy so will fit over the legs of thebc stand. Please use sandbags on the c stand.
Awesome video, great info on how to set up lighting & an overhead camera ... imagine Lucy's family ... oh that James May bloke is over again making a noise in the kitchen 😉
Not gonna lie, for a moment I’m thinking, “what kind of camera equipment is Lucy using that weighs a couple thousand pounds”....silly Colonial, it’s money you damn fool, if Lucy meant weight she’d have said “a couple thousand stone”! 🤣 I enjoy the look into how you create and do your job Lucy, I find it fascinating to get a peek into an industry and avocation I’d otherwise know nothing about.
I use those self same small lights for teleconferencing to give me some decent light and they are probably fine for that. As they are just USB powered I've even used them when camping to give my tent some serious lighting.
Lucy: "I didn't want to mount 3,000 lbs worth of camera on something flimsy" Me as an American: "Makes sense, that sounds like a very heavy camera....."
I'm in the process of converting my box room into a space to shoot videos. In my opinion tripods taken up too much space. My plan is to mount some 1" bars to the ceiling. That way I can hang lights cameras and mics from it. You can also mount a slider up there too. I am fortunate that I own my place. But if you are mounting into the joust then when you come to move into your own place then it is an easy job to full the holes and give the ceiling a coat of paint.
Great job on your set setup.. looks nice and seems workable .. another fun 10 minutes behind the lens.. oh I'm still giggling about the unfortunate "gouging of your drawers" incident and "Turning my bedroom into a film set" gets a slightly raised eyebrow.. Keep it up>
Amazing set up, that works brilliantly and looking to do something sort of similar to photograph watches. Just something that I don't think works is starting the videos with "Hey", not sure if you want this sort of feedback but I know I would, Your landing video when you open your channel starts with you saying "Hi, I''m Lucy" sounds so much better.
Lucy's bed room is finally going to see some action. Start of the film will be a load of old men knocking on the door holding a load of oil. I normally have to go into incognito mode to see those types of movies 🤣🤣
Great video Lucy! For overhead shots the glide gear OH 100 Is fantastic. Too bad they are nearly impossible to source out of the USA. They are Much less cumbersome than century stands.
Looks like a very nice setup Lucy. Consider replacing your softbox lights with LED panels attached to the ceiling. This gives you a lot more space in your room and you don't have to set up everything everytime you're filming.
I was going to make an inappropriate joke about you turning your bedroom into a film set, but I wont. Great job Lucy. And your presenting skills have come along 100 percent. Keep it up, great content. xx
I dont know how much you want to live in a set, but i thought if you replaced you blind with a couple of rolls of seamless paper as the backdrop it would be neater. And It might make it quiker to setup as well.
Great video Lucy! I hope you get back to us at a later date what you thought about these products when you have used them. Personally I'm curious about the small led lights. The softboxes you use are they halogen or normal lightbulb?
Great clock, but are you sure it's big enough? Does it tick too? I can't quite see how you can make cooking videos in your bedroom but the rig looks good. As always, the video is good too.
A Sharpie will make that gouge go away. The best way to handle family when you must shoot out in the kitchen is to give them money and send them out. Get James to pay. He doesn't need another car! Hahaha ha!
Very cool stuff. I like that you went through the effort to use multiple cameras to capture different angles and then edited them all together. Is that hard or time consuming? Or are you so comfortable with it now that you can do it pretty easily?
Hi Lucy, after a couple of months on have you made any changes to your set up, or anything you would now not have purchased from the original set-up? (We helped James when he filmed his two episodes of toy stories regarding the model trains our cafe was the production hub, please say hi to James from all Barnstaple Station next time you see him :) )
6:36 "You can probably tell I'm not very good at unboxing" Opens box, takes stuff out of box, shows it to the camera... I think you have it down pretty good...
I hope drivetribe pays for all this....it always seems that your paying for it, could be totally incorrect BUT if its not coming out of the company pocket then it really doesn't seem right.
What part of the video are you referring to? Scootaloo by Jobii is the first song played in the video. Then there's Auld Lang Syne, also recorded by Jobii, Ninja Chef by Jobi, Plennyahenny by Jobii, Taradiddle Paradiddle by Jobii, and Rare Rocks That Look Like David Letterman by Jobii.

that 'brother's parcel face' - I think my weekend is made already

You should have enlisted James to assemble it. That would have been at least a 3 part video series
Yeah. May would've disassembled it all even more before putting it together.

Great video.

i have to say, i do like the Charlie Brown style background music for the unboxing part.
Wait . . . So James May comes to your parent's house to film videos in your kitchen?

You and me both….

That was extremely helpful! Thank you. I’m in the process of learning to take product photos for my wife’s Etsy business and this helped a lot!
