gadh... the nostalgia! Soo much nostalgia! I remember being hella young and playing that legendary game. Sound-track and audio was top-notch for such a old gameboy game. Boy I miss playing it.
I spent a lot of time playing this game and never knew the name. It was my uncles and only played it when I went to my grandmas house. Loved this game! I still have my game boy, I should buy it.
Gonna be honest, the art style for this game scared me as a kid. Mostly because I couldn't understand why there were giant dinosaur bones in deep space.
@@blastradius9136 While I don't deny that, I think what bothered me more where the fact that the dinosaur bones show there is something familiar here, but in a place it REALLY doesn't belong.
My first Game Boy Game which I felt in love with in 1998....... I'm here because I just got my Ambernic and i try to remember the games which I loved back in the day
Thanks for the blast from the past :D. I was out in the kitchen cooking my supper , and I started whistling the tune to stage 3 out of the blue , I have no idea why. Then I thought hard , what the hell is this from?? , why am I whistling this? AH Nemesis ! that's where it came from! Looks up Nemesis on google , points me to this video :) . What an awesome game and soundtrack! Thanks again for the post!
classic shooter for the gameboy i love this game i bought this for 2 pound with the instruction manual at a boot sale the gameplay is addictive the sound is killer the graphics are good the music is good overall i give this 10 blasts out of 10
+Pierre Johnson I definately agree with number 1.I can't remember x4's music and so far I'm very impressed with Nemesis. The more Gameboy videos I watch the more I appreciate the sound from it.
This was my first video game ever and i was born in 95... Man this hits hard. I was around 5 when i played it for the first time. My mom was in germany and when she came back i got a gameboy plus this game as a gift. Wish i could go back.
I love this game, trying to beat it currently. Stage 3 kicks my ass but my advice to anyone is that the stage 2 boss is easily beaten with a laser instead of diagonal shot
The stages with the dinosaur bones freaked me the fuck out. I mean, I'm a spaceship and suddenly dinosaur bones spewing laserbombs of death? Where the hell AM I?!
The pitch whiteness of outer space... Wait, what? Yeah, I know, the old Game Boy Classic had a passive matrix LCD screen that "ghosted" with any significant motion and especially with the darker pixel shades, and it was much easier to see dark objects on light backgrounds than light objects on dark backgrounds. Still, it was always kind of funny to me.
12:08 here i always died as a kid. No clue how old i was... but that i remember that i never made it past this point. The level with the easter island Moais (statue name) was my doom most of the time.
I used to hook up the gameboy to some speakers and play this in my room when i was a kid. Its one of my fav shooters of all time. Its not super hard but will give you a challange and a few choices of upgrades on the way. I would have got the balls, rocket and shield first. Push your ship to the left to gather ur balls for an easier setup.
Great game on the Gameboy. The game looks so smooth when playing it on the Gameboy screen but when I try to play it on Super Gameboy it plays like a jerky mess. Definitely doesn’t translate to a bigger screen very well. Might be something to do with refresh rates? I don’t know.
I'm really confused, after I beat the last stage I didn't get an ending and the game just looped and went to 'stage 6' which is the same as stage 1. Anyone know why?
One of my top 5 game boy games. Played it so many times. Something satisfying about this game.
I was born in 1995 and still got to enjoy this masterpiece.. and such a great soundtrack

This game actually has a better variety of stage bosses than Gradius 1 for the NES. An oldie & goodie!
Love the sound design
Just beat this game today! Took a long time to do, but was completely worth it. This game is brilliant.
Memories, one of my first ever games
Gonna be honest, the art style for this game scared me as a kid. Mostly because I couldn't understand why there were giant dinosaur bones in deep space.
A lot of the Gradius / Nemesis games enemies are influenced heavily by HR Giger's art. So that's probably why some of the art style freaked you out.
@@blastradius9136 While I don't deny that, I think what bothered me more where the fact that the dinosaur bones show there is something familiar here, but in a place it REALLY doesn't belong.
I thought it was strange the dinosaur bones in deep space
@@coreyrice5744 Exactly. Somehow in deep space, there are bones of dinosaurs? And GIGANTIC ones at that, but why? How? It scared me.

One of my all time favourite GB games. Back when you were never quite sure what to buy, boy, was I glad I got this one!
My second shmup. Always so cool to check out these longplays to see what you never got to when you were younger.

Top 3 video game soundtracks
1 Streets of Rage 2
2 Megaman X4
3 Nemesis
+Pierre Johnson Alien Trilogy

Julia Shenandoah I forgot all about that one. I had a long argument with my cousin about my top 3 ST..

Very well executed music for a gameboy. well done Konami
The Easter island heads are kind of a interesting touch

Didn’t have a lot of game boy games, but I did have this
Good god, nostalgia bomb!
Oh, this is Gradius! I was wondering, why the name was so familiar! What a great game.
Killrave2 yeah. This is the Japanese version
@@bigoof9654 The opposite. Gradius is the Japanese name. Nemesis is how the game was called in the West.
@@rafaellima83 weirdly both Japanese games were called nemesis on gameboy, in japan, while the sequel went back to being called Gradius in the US
Probably the most hectic game I ever played as a kid.
my first ever gameboy game and first game ever
Needs work. Should I Vid reply with hidden stage locations?
holy shit this game. the nostalgia!

I loved this game as child so much. the music always had to be very loud, so I could play best.
*Wonderful, my Childhood, thanks a lot!!!👍🏻*

this game always reminded me of Contra

So basically, this is Gradius, even the music is the same
I havent play that game since the 90s but im still whistle the stage 2 music sometimes :-D
Love this game
This game is hard as shit but so good.
Childhood, remember this like yesterday
But where is the bonus level?
There are two bonus levels: second and fourth stage.
How can one play this game without full speed up?
ScareScraper Totals of F3 17:57 Penguin Toadette

Because science.
Very difficlut game. I don't remember finishing it.
Reminds me of R-Type
I know this is a 12 year old comment but R-Type took inspiration from Gradius gameplay style.
I was just playing that on game boy
You have survived the battle. Well duh
No secret rooms? Hahahaha
Fand ich damals schon besser als R-Type .Spitzen Game -Spitzen Longplay.
How come press A to shoot, not B?
Not bad, gameboy was unreachable device 4 ya ^^
......its freaking gradius!
pspblows99 This is the Japanese version
@@bigoof9654 It goes by the same name in the US as well, only the sequel bore the Gradius name, Gradius: Interstellar Assault.
this is exactly like gradius.
nemesis is the Japan version of gradius
