Glenn mate, you must consider a job that will offer you enough time and energy to at least continue a reduced channel. I don’t know if you truly grasp how much the legends family means to a whole lot of us. Plus, you’ve got a lot to do and it’s so much better when we all share our experiences and creations with each other.

I completely agree Glenn, I love looking at my cars and other peoples collections I think it goes back to when I was a kid, I used to look at those Tamiya catalogs for hours on end wishing for one, those action shots were just so real ! My collection is now ever growing and I love it, even if my wife doesn’t 😂

Like many others I used to gawp in awe at the display behind the counter at Beaties in town when I was a young boy. We never had a pot to piss back then and I could never afford one. I managed to mither my mum enough to get me a Taiyo Jet Hopper 2 for Christmas. I remember it was £70 at the time and that was stretching it. Had so much fun with that car but always dreamed of a Tamiya. Anyway time passed I grew up and got in to other fads and hobbies on the way.
30 years later my son has asked for a remote control car! so I've been browsing around the nostalgic lust came flooding back after looking at Tamiya cars. I have bought my son a pre built car from amazon that he can throw around a bit however this is the excuse I needed to buy what I always wanted. The frog! Arrives tomorrow and I cant wait to get building it, I'm like an excited kid again. Thank you for sharing the nostalgia.

I'll never understand shelf Queens but I do understand that everyone enjoys this hobby differently. It is a silly for someone to try and tell you how to enjoy your hobby as it would be for you to try and tell them how to enjoy their hobby. Glad you're having fun :-)

Glenn what a awesome collection and such a privilege to be shared with us all and never long and winded my friend could sit and watch/listen for hours as im sure others would agree this is for me personally my passion and love my hobby as many many of us here and on the Tamiya Legends FB Groups would also have a passion for such videos/collections and for you to share personal and non related rc information with us all shows that your so down to earth and a realist which what makes you and then channel superb, and as for the collection and the way you put it together is fantastic to know and there wasn't a single car in there that i wouldn't walk over hot coals for 😂 , so a massive thank you and looking forward to part two and each and every other video you put time and effort into its just Fabulous to have you in our Hobby - thank you my friend . Andrew 🙂

I really appreciated the background on why you had sold and then rebuilt your collection a few times, i had always wondered the story behind that. Also, talking about your personal struggles with alcohol, gives strength and hope to those who are facing similar situations.

Glenn, I have been following you for years, since some of your earliest videos on your collections when you were in the UK. I always wondered why you sold off your other collections, as I was so impressed with everything. It has been honestly very therapeutic to hear you share your life stories and its impact on your collection. Thanks for being so transparent and honest in your commentary. It is my opinion this is one of your most likable qualities, story time with Glenn brings all of us to a place of 80's nostalgia. Thanks for sharing your tough moments as well as your wins. Life is up and down and I can only speak for myself but my life has many similarities and I resonate with all of your commentary. As you would say sorry for my dribble, but I just really appreciate your work. Cheers!

Great video Glenn! Love your collection. I was looking at the Ikea cabinets after watching one of your older older videos, but they’re left slightly open between the cabinets - and I can’t face the prospect of dusting everything all the time! I’ve got Ikea sliding door cabinets - and made some double decker storage frames to stack the cars inside rather than adding extra shelves.
Can’t wait to see the full collection!

It's your video, make it as long as you like! It's a joy watching someone as passionate as you and hearing what you got to say! I wasn't so interested in the Ikea cabinets, but I made it through that part too, no problem... That's some cool buggies, you got! I think I already saw videos with most of them, and maybe some that you didn't show today, too... I have to confess, I have no idea how many I got, maybe 6-8 Tamiyas, they're on shelves, but nothing as nice as yours!

Yep, very nice indeed. As i've mentioned on another video, i borrowed this idea of using these cabinets for myself and with the middle side panels removed, it all works great. In the meanwhile i have also sorted out the lighting situation and went with two different Ikea lighting sets and i managed to get it all to work with the Ikea Smart System, so i can now turn on and off everything with one push on a button. (or smartphone) My collection isn't that extensive though, so i was able to get away with just three cabinets, displaying 11 cars in the cabinets and two 1/5th scale ones on top, which also have some background lighting. I'm still in the process of cable managing and getting all three cabinets to align with each other correctly but it already is an eyecatcher as it stands. I chose to illuminate every single car in the display and i'm not disappointed. If you're interested i could produce some pictures or video for you to feature in a future video or something. Once again, thanks for this idea!

Today its so easy to collect tamiya buggy cars with the re-re ones, I was a true collector with the original ones, had 23 complete restored and about other 5 to work on, did sell them all on year 2000 till 2003 because it was too much place taking. Interesting was to see the mechanical evolution, Toyota Hilux first 4wd, Wild Willy first car with differential, Hot Shot first 4wd with diffs. Cheers from Estefano's Homepage.

What a Treeeeeemendous video of a beautiful collection Glen!!!!!!. Really helpful as well with the display cabinet explanation.. So many great cars.. all have their standing in their own way. For me Glen because of my age and what the hobby means to me.. The one that stands out for me for my own reason is the………Bigwig.. A true Tamiya legend and one that was so aspirational back in the day.. going on what I said yesterday I think in the new year that can be my project.. try to find a Bigwig that needs a bit of help and give it a go.. once again thank you Glen for stirring up those great and happy memories👍👍👍

That was an excellent video, I really enjoyed it! I love how enthusiastic you are about the collecting and displaying side of the hobby, it really does make me smile. Personally, I've never been a huge fan of the off-road stuff, don't get me wrong, there are some awesome buggies out there (and you've got a few), but for me it's the on-road stuff that gets me going. You have a great collection there mate, it looks fantastic, but I'd rather have fewer cars and run them all, even if it's only occasionally. Anyway, excellent video, keep up the good work ;)

Wow that's an awesome collection Glenn, I have 2 Tamiya kits which are the Top Force and an old Manta Ray chassis that i run and use to swap different body shells onto, the Top Force is a non runner because i can't afford the gears lol, plus i don't want to damage it after taking a year to build from parts, look forward to part two of your videos. 👍

The fact that you squeezed that optima pro in there says a lot - I’m sure you have a couple more tamiya cars pissed at you for that 😄
As for selling collections I get it - I’m on what I’d say is my third RC collection now and as much as I wish I had all the previous kits I agree there’s something exciting about starting over after a purge. I mostly have semi-restored runners now and I’ll be honest I feel a little pull when I walk in my room and see all of the cars that need this & that - it can be hard to say “it’s good enough as-is” when you want every last nut & bolt to be the right ones. Such is life of the collector I suppose 🤷‍♂️
Glenn we’ll truly miss not having new videos from you to look forward to should you ever stop but the body of work you have provided us is finished when you say it is brother. Til then, happy rc’in 😁

I use acrylic tube (appr. diameter of a small finger) that I put in the middle of the chassis between the rear wheels (most weight is located there) to prevent the tires from deforming over time (all 4 wheels still touch the ground). A tube is cheap and you can cut with a saw the exact height you need for each car. A very convenient way is to use a roll of toilet paper to let all wheels hover - but I like to have all wheels on the ground.
