Clarke cost us with his negativity, Shankland and Forrest should have started . It's time for him to go.
I would rather he just declares that he will be more attacking in future. Remember our past with managers this guy was the first in 20 years to get us to tournaments again.
Clarke did not take the country to a major tournament, rather, he took the country on a drive to the nearest roundabout. It was more exciting to watch Georgia and Albania play than to support Scotland. What are we going to do now? Blame the English.

I'm in from the US and a Gers fan, and 100% agree: Shankland should have been in the start in Cologne AND in Stuttgart. Whether he got fed or not, Adams was nearly useless in all 3 mathes: no runs, no movement, no shots. At least give Shnakland more than 35 minutes over the whole of the tournament to try and give us a goal.

Clarke approached this tournament like we are footballing minnows, not deserving to be there. Far too much respect shown to sides of similar calibre. So disappointing. Utterly pointless qualifying if we aren't bold enough to try and win matches when we get there.
Summed it up perfectly. But I get the managers position - if he'd come out before Germany and said "we are going to have a go - it might be bloody but we'll fight the with courage" and lost, I dunno 5-2 there, maybe still drawn with Swiss but 2-2 and then maybe still even lost to Hungary but played with attacking intent and courage, it could have gone one of two ways:
1. We commend the courage and spirit and entertainment
2. We criticise exiting the tournament early because if he'd been more cautious we might have more pts?
So in both case exiting at group stage.
It's maybe only with hindsight we can all say "option 1 definitely! !"
But now we've had two dud tournaments it might be easier for a manager to take that punt and go all in.

Where has Scotlands' heart and passion gone? The fans had more than the team! I've been around a wee while, and I have to say, that's probably the most embarrassing and worst performance I've ever seen by Scotland in a major tournament.
Much my own thoughts , I have been around a long time and I have seen some dross in a blue shirt but that sequence of three matches has got to be the worst I have seen in , the mentality and will to attack in numbers is just not there, courage and bravery up front if we fall short fair enough but at least we would have had a go, timeless pain

First of all, I’ll make the point that Steve Clarke has got us to 2 back to back major tournaments and he has my full credit but I think now is the time for change and for him to step down, he’s simply taken this group of players as far as he can. These games against Hungary and the Swiss weren’t going to be easy but games we were capable of winning and sadly when you set up both games not to lose instead of trying to win your not going to go very far, that’s the major downfall here. I know this system got us here and we qualified but we’re no going to go any further and progress as a nation if we keep doing the same things over and over again, these 3 games have shown us that we haven’t really learned anything from the last Euros, we have decent players in this squad but I just think they aren’t utilised in the right way by being overly defensive, it’s time for change and a new sense of direction if we’re ever going to go any further

With respect, they got there because there are far more teams going to the finals. It used to be that one team from each qualifying group went to the finals. Now with far more teams the quality drops.

Reality check is that Scotland can't even finish third in a group. We simply don't have the players, we have no strikers of quality, a midfield that flatter to deceive and a defence and goalkeeper that are bang average. I mean Georgia finished fourth in our qualifying group but are playing better than us. I seriously think we'll have to wait sometime for another tournament. I think this group of players have peaked and I don't see players coming through that make me optimistic for the future.

Bang on review. We have watched other apparent lesser teams go out and have a go at their opposition across the tournament. Whereas, we think we're gonna have some goal blitz in the last 10/15 minutes of games. Clarke's reactions need to be quicker in games.

What an absolute letdown!!! We got exactly what we deserved absolutely nothing. 3 shots on target the whole tournament basically all in the 2nd game or after 90 minutes no shots on target in a game we needed to win and in both games we showed zero strategy no structure or energy or anything like looking like we’d score. ( Look at Georgia for god sake there showing up better) Why he’s not brought on a winger to supply Adam’s if that’s the way he wants to play god knows why as Adam’s will not get you a goal so you have to win a game and try and simply get a goal from a guy who can’t score goals and the only other member is the player of the year in Shankland or even Forrest or Christie but to not give them any minutes to make a difference is very very sad and absolutely unacceptable. Penalty or not we don’t deserve nothing from this sad tournament of zero shots on goal in 3 games. Every set piece wasted & basically hardly any corners except a few against Switzerland also wasted except one that hit the post. By the way Shankland scored against Finland & Georgia in the few chances he’s got he’s proved he’s all we have to get a goal to win a tight game like this was a must win. I’m so gutted by the performance l’d rather go out fighting than going out without having a go & at least have a plan about what we’re all about as that’s been as bad as any showing in any tournament I’ve witnessed & I was born in 1976, 🏴🤷🏴 😡

Shankland should have played from the start and we should have played two up front ... Hungary deserved to win but it's time for a change ... Clarke's negative tactics cost us.

We say it every time - ‘this is the year, this is the tournament’ but its always the same - rank rotten, no decent play, minimum shots on goal, beaten or drawing with average and below average teams. We may have great support but we are lousy in the games that count. Absolute dross. Every single time. Worst team in the tournament for shots on goal - embarrassing.
Scotland was terrific in the qualifying. Spain and Norway were beaten. I understand if you are a bit disappointed.

Armstrong was offside receiving the ball, wouldn't have mattered if the ref gave a penalty VAR would have ruled it out.

Couldn't even get excited for this tournament as I knew what was coming....the team that beat Spain 2-0 at hampden is a distant memory. We went in here as the team with the worst run of form. Now it's 1 win in 12 which would get most managers the bullet. We got ro Germany on the back of solid performances and half decent football...then we went to gettin a few doings and beat off northern ireland. Too much safety first too slow and too loyal to certain players who knew they were gettin a jersey. Time for a change and a shake up
Beating Gibraltar 2-0 has been the highlight of the summer. The alarm bells were ringing then. Strachan took us to a certain point. Clarke took us into two Euros. The next manager if he has the balls and luck in finding a striker will take us on again. Losing two RWB's, Gordon, Tierney and key players playing with injuries makes it doubly hard for wee teams like us, without being impotent in the opponent's penalty box. Thanks Steve, but time to go.
We had a SPFL player of the year striker on the bench who scored 59 goals in two seasons.

When has Clarke ever made impact changes and quick decisions regarding hanges, and am I the only one that sees the Spain triumph as circumstances, after that game the Spanish manager changed direction and trusted his youth coming through, and never looked back, Norway away, we had a mad last 10 minutes and were extremely fortunate, then we had momentum, and Clarke stopped the momentum, with fruitless friendlies which we never really recovered from

They sat in early doors knowing we were unlikely to score. Happy to let us play keep ball knowing we were no threat. And so it proved. Toothless. Aw the man says, "got what we deserved".

Tam is 100% right. Hugh is right too. Subs should have been made at half time not at 75'. Why did we not play Shankland from the start today? Che Adams has done F all this tournament (among others), so why did he start in a MUST win game. Were we going for a tie, and hoping to qualify with 2 points? What was the game plan.
As a fan from the US, the team let ALL of us traveling fans down. We came to see at LEAST an exciting, fighting Scotland team. Instead we got a team that was too scared to challenge for the ball 90% of the time, and refusued to press forward and take shots on net.
Very disheartening. THe players and Clarke should be ashamed and apologize to all the traveling fans.

I think Clarke is a good manager to a point. Adams was an empty shirt in most of the minutes he was on the park. Shankland did more in the little time he had on the park.
Players looked out on their feet. Couldn't have asked for more. Disappointing not to go through. Hungary were just better and as a moan, the ref was awful at best. He looked like he'd received a bung tbh.

Typical display of a less than bang average squad. Some of those players need to look at themselves in the mirror and realise they aren’t anywhere near the level required to play international football. No awareness, no pace, no ability to take on an opponent. Our mentality of “just happy to be there” is killing us.

Scotland has a big problem. We are in the 21st century and they are still playing like they did 100 years ago. The players don't know how to play the ball with their feet. They have no technique, they don't know how to control the ball and they don't know how to dribble. They need to change the DNA of their younger players from when they are children. This is not rugby, it's football. Scottish football clubs need to teach their children to control the ball with their feet, they need to teach them to dribble, they need to select and train children with the best attitude to play football. Scotland cannot continue to play like this all their lives because they will never win anything outside their country.

I understand the Scots' disappointment. Both teams played with unacceptable tactics. This match didn't look like two teams playing for their lives to win. I am satisfied with the football players on both sides because they did everything the coaches asked of them. However, this was unacceptable on both sides. I expected and hoped for an open match where we, the Hungarians, would win 4-3, but both teams played as if avoiding defeat was enough. If Scotland had won 1-0 yesterday, the Hungarian fans would be criticizing the tactics rightfully. 70% Scottish possession in the first half - well, we certainly surprised the Scots; it was clear they didn't expect this either. 0-0 in the 99th minute in a do-or-die match. It was horrible to watch, and then there was the injury. I expected a good match and got something dreadful instead, where only the result and the players' tactical discipline were acceptable, but I could have read that in the morning papers.
Clark sticks to his beloved players, he doesn't give a shit what fans or media think. The no wins on the run -up to euros was a clue!!. The worst defeat in Euros starting game... The latest goal to be scored in Euros history. I rest my case!!

The only reason Scotland has recently qualified in back to back tournaments is because the number of teams being allowed to qualify has gone up. Back in the 1974 World Cup in Germany there were only 16 teams qualified, and Scotland we were close to get into the last 8. A win, plus 2 draws with Brazil & Yugoslavia was not quite enough. Yesterday against Hungary, Scotland didn't even try to score until the last 5 minutes and Clarke is making our performance even more embarrassing by going on about Armstrong should have got a penalty. NO Ckarkem Armstrong should NOT have got a penalty. Take your victimhood elsewhere. Armstrong should have SCORED instead of pulling at the Hungry defenders shirt to try to get a penalty!
