I made kalimba use sapele.
Klimba sound is sounds good.

Great work with simple tools! Great sawing!
It made me so happy seeing you play your kalimba
I love the planer jig you have for the miter joints!
I've seen some kalimba making kits online, but with flatboard walnut bases. Cool to see how box kalimbas are made. Have not heard one made from sapele wood, the finnished product looks awesome! 🥰
I am so amazed how he combine the box with wrap tape and rubber band...never thought of that before.
Late response but that was my exact thought!
LOL..... I love the way way effect at the end, i had a chuckle!!
You pulled out that wood and I was like “That’s too much for me, I wanted to build my kalimba out of sticks and mud..”
Really cool to see you work though! Good job!
Wonderful work mate.
Cool build video!
That’s amazing, i have no words!
That guy has some serious skill
This is amazing!!!
I like your craftsmanship.
Excellent!cool!
Awesome, now i have to make one.
Great work!!
Amazing how you could be this instrument!!!
OmG, you are so detail! Love to see how the process of making kalimba.. 😊
Great work bro
Great work
This is amazing!
this is so beautiful i want to make one for my best friend
I want to have you as my best friend 😆
Aww the fact that you wanted to handmake it will be even more special, h9pe your friend is happy ^^
This was so crafty, very few electrical hardware needed. That was skilful
I need to see how he got the keys installed
Okay after many hours of struggling heres how u add the keys. Put all the keys in the bridge holes and keep the top bar in place. After set i taped the sliding buggers. Make sure the tines stick up a bit over that top bridge. Now the bottom wooden bridge thing with the metal bar. Thats going to get shoved in tine by tine sideways. The bridge will be way lowered on the instrument and pushed up after all the tines are on. I went left to right by hand, lift a tine and put it on the lower bridge. Slide said bridge over and add the next tine. Be sure to keep track that your 1st tine isnt slipping off the top brudge or its really hard to pry back on. Best of luck all

For any future readers, here’s how I did it. I’m gonna phrase things simply with minimum lingo.
First attach your two wood bars to the kalimba body (but do not glue in the small metal bar, leave it off for now).
Then screw in the large metal bar. Slide in each of the tines so that they’re resting on the wood on either side, going through the large metal bar in the middle. The fit should be snug but manageable. If you are having trouble getting the tines through, loosen the screws a little bit so that the large metal bar can sit a little higher.
Once they’re all in, you will start sliding in the small metal bar along its wooden groove, lifting each tine one by one so that it fits underneath. This will give your tines a tight fit so they can now be tuned.
Wish I read all this before I built mine and murdered my fingers squeezing in the tines with everything else glued and screwed in place.
that is why I came, also. They skip right over the most important part!
Very easy to make it
i think it is wonderful 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 lovely😍
Title: DIY
Me: Excuse me, sir, no one is going to have what is needed to make this!-
Many people will have this problem, but the only thing I’m missing is the hand plane and the pull saw. I do have other tools I could substitute with though!
I actually have the stuff to make this I bought a Kalimba but there wasn’t a wooden part 😔 T^T
Yes... But I have a friend who is a luthier...he might make me one.. :D
Don't bother making a wooden box and use a solid block of wood instead. It will be much easier.
I beg to differ, unless you think he was going to use a cereal box and sticky tape to make it?! - he is using basic hand tools and has essentially crafted an instrument from scrap wood on a fold up workbench - watch any 'DIY' woodworking channel and they'd have used a whole bunch of power tools to do the same thing - splitting a board with a saw that accurately is no mean feat (usually done on a bandsaw) so the manner in which he has done it is eminently DIY IMO and yes I do have what's needed to make this, albeit I might go about doing some things slightly differently. It's an excellent piece of craftsmanship :)
Wow nice build
Thanks!
Actually didn't learn how to build kalimba, but there are so many tips.. i mean so useful
nice work
Wow so pretty for howits made with mostly hand tools
welp, I thought it was gonna be an easy tutorial lol
I saw you on a slogoman video's comment sayinh
I miss josh saying "Hell Yeah!"
Wait wut - btw hey buddy!
just do one that’s without any holes
It's easy if you just source the wood at better measurements but they probably only get one size.
@@gregmatchett7110 its kinda hard to find custom cut wood around here, normally they just sell a bunch in a pack and they normally have the same measurements on every pack
excellent!
Well that was satisfying
Wonderful😍😍
Thank you bro
I really need to invest in one of those pull saws.
Wow great work! I wanna know whats the measurements for this so i can make one.
Wow!
Ah the Japanese pull saw, my favorite
Adorei o instrumento! Pena ser tão baixo o som...
Amazing
Incredible Luthier
you have indeed the hands of a mason. you can easily see that by the way he plays the kalimba. LOL
so rough.
jokes apart, you made an awesome work!
Good job
What wood is made of?
Parabéns.
DANKE! Wie heißt bitte diese prima Säge?
I think it will sustain better if the bridge and backstop is nearer...
All in all I enjoyed watching this video tnk u for sharing 💟

Can you post the dimensions for this please?

UN TRABAJO PRECIOSO MUY DELICADO EXELENTE
Ur hand saw...is sharp Dudee...😂
Hope I can have one🥺
Does anyone know wether the quality of the box is very important to the sound quality? I think it would be neat to make a kalimba out of a vintage cigar box :))
fantastico! eu aprecio muito esse instrumento!
Also very nice 45 degree bevel shootingboard! What is that yellow coating on top?
Good
Asombroso!!!😲😲😲😲😲
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thanks!

Im so bored so i watched this
Ngl this was good
For how much u will sell it i want to buy it
I think I will make one and add a electric amplifier connection.
Amazing!!!
Who needs to buy one? when you can make one. Lol
Should I use a special type of wood or can I use plywood?
Can someone give me more details about steps and what's the length when you cut?
Hi. Great Job ! How can I buy the metal Keys for Kalimba?
I bought in amazon. amzn.to/2nRxEOy
@@tengucraft Thank You so Much !
Sooooo where can you find the hardware and specifications to build it?
Dose this require a specific type of wood or will any wood do?
your keys and key holders are pre-made or machine-made, can you make an all DIY version?
Well that could be difficult to get the keys consistent and precise
What is the measiruments of woods or can you have a technical drawing this wood
Just kind of guessing, but based on the size of his hands in comparison to the kalimba itself, I'd say it's probably about 8 inches in length, 4 inches in width, and 1 inch height. Again just a guess
Edit: actually probably more like 5 inches in width
@@jakemcguire9304 Thanks for your support but I did my Kalimba 5 months ago :) I didnt found measiruments any where but I guess how much is it. The measiruments which my using are 13cm*18cm and height is 4.5 cm it is my guess but I did technical drawing using Solidworks because of I am a mechanical engineering student if you want to reach my sketch you can click this link and you can download

He use sapele wood. The tuning you can use phone apps, downloadable from Android Playstore or Apple Store equivalent, example like "gStrings" or "Soundcorset".
Maybe he was selling a kalimba so he did get the metal keys or the inventor of kalimba
