    Well, "my friend", my comment was an answer to Turkishman72 who said, "he [Caesar] killed Jesus." Since you seem to be so educated, you might know that such a statement is pure BS. However, my comment somehow didn't show up where it should have. That should be enough of an explanation.
    Scio Romae tunc imperatores appellatum esse et Mel Gibson non serium auxilium est.
    Cheers

    When i was young I used to think it would be really cool to be a Roman and fight and live for Rome. But as knowledge has grown on me, I've since seen that Rome was a harsh and brutal world where soldiers were fodder for Consuls and Dynasties who cared little about anyone save themselves. Whole families murdered, constant assassinations and attempted assassinations, exiles, public executions and rising higher in power meant only all the more people wanted you dead.

    In what way was he a tyrant though? He was very popular with the people. Ignoring the fact that history would have been completely altered had Pompey and so we may not even be here as we are, then yes you are right that he may have been portrayed as a tyrant. However, that is because Pompey and the other optimates thought os him as such. The people did not.

    Correct. Had he been more ruthless, he would not have been murdered by those he had pardoned. A brilliant man, the greatest of the Romans!!

  • @karadiamondgirl
    @karadiamondgirl 15 років тому +1

    Actually, he wasn't known for genocide but for his clemency. He spared many of his enemies in the Civil War, and was literally SENT to Gaul to reconquer the land north of Rome and keep the Germans and Celts away from the boarders (something that had been terrifying the Romans since Gauis Marius had been consul). I think that what Marius acheived was more along the lines of corruption, and that Caesar managed to acheive a median between corruption and change.

    1. Yes, I knew the bible has been "edited";
    2. Where are you basing your claim? This is your personal opinion and you have no evidence for it. The bible is simply the greatest piece of literature of all of humankind, still being published for thousands of years;
    3. The bible is not a history book (it is about theology), but you can learn a lot about the history of Near East and its old civilizations.The work of archaeologists would be much harder without information from the bible

  • @diogokyrillos
    @diogokyrillos 14 років тому

    @teslagod2003 So we have something in common, I don't like religion either (it is man-made and that is why is so "faulty", to say the least)
    The respect for God is on the rubbish, and that is why we live in such a world. But that is not God's nor the bible's fault, it is our. It is up to you what you are gonna do with the knowledge from the bible...
    See ya

    Caesar was a nephew or Marius, the champion of the poor and the army. He fought his whole life against the entrenched rich and lazy. He earned everything he got. He took risks and usually won. He never quaked before the Dictator Sulla. When the Germans invaded Burgundy and Austria/Switzerland they murdered several hundred thousand Gauls. Caesar knew the rule of war was victory or death. He lived and died by that.

    @teslagod2003 I am aware of everything you just said, as I am a history lover and Christian Apologetic.
    People can use anything for their personal will. The Theory of Evolution was used by the Nazis to justify the Holocaust and the supremacy of the best fit, but it doesn't mean there is something wrong with the Theory itself. The problem was when it was used in the wrong way.
    Yes, unfortunately human-beings use the bible for politics... so what?

    @EdikShepherd China was an untested giant, while Rome was a battle-hardened giant that had proven its worth against the likes of Hannibal, Pyrrhus, and others. In the Mediterranean you not only had a variety of cultures, you also had a variety of concepts of warfare, and this forced Rome to constantly adapt and reevaluate its strategy.

    @Fez1408 Ancient China... honestly? Their forces were nowhere near as organized, disciplined, and well armed as the legionaries. Their coffers were also fairly small compared to the entirety of all the Roman families together.
    And their fighting style was inferior as well, too much fines and too little focus on killing the enemy.
    Ancient Europe will smoke ancient Asia any day.

    Not one person in this discussion knows anything about history! Josephus was a Jewish writer that originally was part of the Jewish uprising against Rome but was captured by Vespasian and his son,Titus< and ended up becoming a client of theirs, even taking on the Roman cognomen of Flavius, which was the family name of Vespasian, Titus and Domitian. You'd better let your teacha reach ya!

    JM mclovin alexander was talked a lot about in Caesars time a lot of Roman emporers compared themselves to Alexander. Caesar actaully encountered a statue of Alexander in Hispania (now knowns as spain). He felt an underachiever since he was at an age where alexander had the world at his feet. He did have that conquering spirit about him how he conquered gaul (france) and he invaded England and Germania. Trajan is another one that compared himself to alexander since after beating decavulus

    Both history and the bible are somewhat biased since both are written retrospectively on many occasions, but there are certain things that historically are accurate. Bible and history converge on many accounts. This is one of them - since it is easy to pin down time, rulers, hegemonies, mentality in place of this event. Therefore, yes, I will stick to my point here.
    Although I am sure how Kenites were involved, that's the comment below by @gaiuskaiser. Maybe he can elaborate.

  • @vorotnikova
    @vorotnikova 14 років тому

    My friend, read your bible, or you can watch Mel Gibson's movie, it is also historically pretty accurate. Rome did not take Jesus that serious - they said he is a lunatic, and did not want to crucify him, but Jewish high priests felt very threatened since Jesus was preaching against a lot of their meaningless rituals, and proclaimed himself a king. They were the ones who wanted him tortured and dead. Rome literally left Jesus for Jewish authorities to deal with.

  • @vorotnikova
    @vorotnikova 14 років тому

    For your information, there were many Caesers during Roman empire's time. For instance, Octavius was called a Caeser during his life time, Marcus Aurelius was also called a Caeser. Anyways, you are not getting the point that this conversation is trying to get to (i.e. by whose office Jesus was condemned), my friend.

  • @juliuscaesar4866
    @juliuscaesar4866 12 років тому

    If Alexander was so great with government, his empire would not fall apart. For a king that ruled for only 13 years, he did great. However his structure cannot last as he didn't appoint a approved heir. He spent the majority of his time campaigning, not governing.

  • @ComedianDivine
    @ComedianDivine 12 років тому

    And yes, Jesus is mentioned by Josephus in his writings, among quite a few writers of the time. he was born (Jesus) during the principate of Augustus and later crucified during the reign of the emperor Tiberius, the successor of Augustus. Don't let your ignorance be your DOWNFALL! Repent!

    I hate history class, but this for English class. My mom is letting me use her account to watch some crap-video that our English teacher sent us. I'm not dissing on the guy who made this video, or the video... I'm dissing on school. School; that one useless thing that they claim will help you. Why I do need to know about Ceaser? I don't give a crap! I've got friends, a life... I can't waste my time watching this!!! So, I'm typing this abnormally long comment as a means of ignoring this video. What is WITH teachers. "OK class , this is English, but we're going to learn about history so we can understand this story better. I sent your parents this video, so you have to watch it, you have no CHOICE." BTW thanks for reading this far.; I'm surprised you're so interested in my rambling. Anyway, school SEEMS great, because you can see your friends and slack and stuff, but all the extra work and stress... it's not cool. Teachers be like "DO DIS DO DAT DO ALL UR WURK" And i be sitting here like "I ANT DOING THIS MR TEACHER MAN WHO U BOSSIN AROUND?" Anyway, video is over, gotta watch Part Two. WIsh me luck...
