if marc Goddard could keep calm as a ref, he could have simply taken 5 seconds to asses the situation, but he can not handle the pressure on the big stage and he has showed this time and time again. so he acted immediately on emotion instead of remaining calm and understanding the situation before acting.
if a piece of the cage is in the fighters foot, he can briefly pause the action to try to resolve the issue. this issue was not caused by the fighter, it was cause by an outside interference. it would be similar to if a fan threw a beer into the cage mid fight and it got all over the cage floor. they would pause the fight and try to clean the cage, then continue the fight.
the referee has discretion in this situation but sadly we have a lot of refs who care more about looking cool on camera and they make mistakes over and over and yet they never face any consequences

Perry is off about the ref situation, what if he’s calling time from an injury caused by his opponent? Then that’s wrong. If I were him I would’ve faked a groin or eye poke then while I had em say look I got a splinter

It’s only good for the ones that can bring a maximum amount of views and headlines. People that rely on their skill are less likely to have an initial audience but are putting on better performances than those who talk. Sean O’Malley is a good example, smooth brained socially but a killer in the octagon.
@KanpaiMedia absolutely sucks, I think the UFC should have paid Cedric whatever his number was. Cedric spoke on Ariel's show after signing with pfl and said he did meet with the ufc but the offer "wasn't even close".
@christophervengeance8465 have you followed Cedric's career at all? He can sell my friend and already has a following, a very big following. The UFC fumbled the ball IMO..
