You can find evidences of his overall strength for his fighting weight at 175lbs based on numerous training videos going back 2 years. Go watch them. In one vid he benched 330lbs doing a few reps… another vid pressing 285lbs with speed…another doing 1 rep with many varied sizes of diminishing weights indicating the end of a progressive routine... squatting 352lbs a few reps... and many more incredible strength routines. I saw him arm wrestle with heavyweight Russian stable mate Arslanbek Makhmudov who weighs 265lbs at 6ft ‘6. He had to use both arms and all his weight to bring Beterbiev’s arm down. Anywhere he clubs you on top of the head he seriously hurts you and those are just arm punches.... If you lay on the ropes and allow him to get his hips into his punches you can make a case for attempted murder. Most of his sparring partners he sends home never to return. The assistant coach holding the mitts, who's been helping Beterbiev train, is John "The Iceman" Scully. BTW: that hammer exercise is good for strengthening rotator cuff (shoulders), biceps, forearm and wrist. I have a weight bar that I do something similar with. It's similar to hammer curls.
Turned pro later, had issues with a previous promoter I believe, injuries and also guys ducking him. He's done pretty well for himself considering. But yeah we could've seen a lot more.

Makes sense, considering how big combat sports are there. Money is generally the biggest determining factor when looking at average talent level accross different sports, so the best athletes from many other countries tend to stay out of fighting due to the relatively low pay.
There's this Ossetian boxer in cruiserweight who now moved to heavyweight. His name is Murat Gassiev. That guy is a beast. Chris Arreola, a heavyweight boxer, said that Gassiev hit him the hardest in sparring. Only Usyk beat Gassiev so far.

Beterbiev is a super human. Explosive, heavy handed, High fast twitch fibres, amazing endurance, great chin (he took a huge punch off heavy hitting Johnson and got up and recovered quickly), incredibly strong and most likely super strong ligaments and tendons that don't lose much, if any energy on impact hence him being so devastating. He trains how all boxer should train but rarely any do except in Eastern Europe. Olympic lifting should be a staple of all boxers aswell as all the strength training shown in this video.

He is a light Heavyweight Roberto Duran with stone hands! Unlike Durant ,he is totally dedicated to boxing, doesn't drink,party or seeks stardom, all he does is train himself to be better! He looks stiff, but he isn't, he doesn't waist movement, blocking instead of ducking and shadowing opponents, until he gets advantages position!
It's the stiffness he can maintain from core-shoulder-elbow-wrist that makes him feel so heavy handed. Most people will find one of those joints collapse sonewgat when punxhing THROUGH the bag at close-mid range. But he's like a Newton's cradle in that ALL the force gets transfered through.
Fantastic video! However Tyson did do heavy squats, bench and deadlifts but he just didn’t speak about it (rumoured to of asked the legendary strength coach Charles Poliquin to train him). There is still not enough emphasis on maximal strength training with western boxers - the Russians have bar far the best literature on strength training and periodization for speed and power sports. In the west weight training is still naively associated with making you slower ( Probably still being confused with bodybuilding ). End of the day if two athletes are pound for pound same skill level, the stronger one will win. Beterbiev is a great example - he makes heavy lifting a year round affair not just for a 6 week training camp. Conditioning can be easily improved in weeks but strength and explosiveness takes years!! The aim of any fighter should be to become the strongest in there weight division - it won’t hurt lol. I just wonder if someone like Floyd Mayweather had a year round world class S+C coach how much faster he would be getting guys out of there later into his career at Welter!

Being a personal trainer previously in life, I can see how he has a lot of mid range power based upon the way he does his weight and strength training. Explosive power in mid range often is from weight training due to the fact that normally in a push scenario like a punch once you get past that halfway point it’s not as hard. Just like benchpress when you’re halfway up. This means in that shorter range you have a lot more power that’s worth the strength is concentrated. he also doesn’t do slow, but rather explosive pushes. This makes it perfect for mid range power.

Hammer exercises are really good. You have fast twitch and slow twitch muscle. Muscle also has memory. Slamming the hammer is easy It is the reflex and muscle used to control the hammer from the rebound. It an extremely difficult exercise.
I dont care how much u train, look at Artur at the weighins, his opponents look in shape but Bertiviev is genetically built different, his bone density is thicker and muscle fiber at least 2 times stronger than the average person.

I’m from a highly Muslim area and lot of the amateur turning pro boxers I know have all said that it’s hard to fast and train but it’s manageable and not as difficult as it seems for people in the correct condition.

I’m from a highly Muslim area and lot of the amateur turning pro boxers I know have all said that it’s hard to fast and train but it’s manageable and not as difficult as it seems for people in the correct condition.

Yes, those push up for wrist is hard. Tried to do it once, give up immediately. I guess to be able to that, I need to train all 3 movement separately
Yeah it's not an overnight thing. Would take a while before mastering it like him.
This thing came from traditional karate. ofc you should do warm up exercises and stretch your wrists before this push ups.
