I took a great deer walking right by a huge rub to his bedding area 7am in the morning ! If it’s the right rub line they help narrow down buck travel routes and times! Good info, I knew that buck bedded behind houses and that’s exactly where he was headed

Thick foam thermal seat is super comfy for your knees when sitting in a saddle. It also pads my back inside my backpack the way i pack it

I always look for those faint buck trails 5 to 10 yards off the fields roads etc. Those bucks tend to have them where the prevailing wind is most prominently down wind. 👍🏻🦌

I picture randoms rubs being like itchy spots for them. Like itchy dry scalp from growing antlers. I hsve foind matching sheds against tree on a rub loke it was itchy and just wanfed them off

Got a question slash topic for y’all or anyone else who would talk about it, that’s saddle hunting on private land my family owns 300 acres in the ozark and I can’t get anyone to walk to their stand, it’s all hunting over corn piles, it’s hard as hell to pattern deer on our land because we blow them out all the time, we only get night time pictures, and when I tell my family the reasons we are only getting night time pictures no one will listen, so my thoughts are try to get away from everyone else on our land but my only option will be saddle hunting thoughts or comments are welcome please

You need to scout that land from corner to corner and know every stick in it. You gotta know where the deer live before you hunt it and then formulate a plan of attack and clear access routes for the spots with the right wind. Don't get to close to bedding find travel routes between food and bed.

I like the passion Dan has for Deer hunting. He needs to loose the years of bad habits and stop wounding these animals. What message is this for young children who may hunt

What if last winter, after season, I found a rub line following a creek. There was probably 15 rubs within a 300 yards stretch. Every tree was rubbed five feet high on trees as big around as a basketball. It's on a south facing hill with fresh water spring creek below. Every rub is facing one general direction. I'm thinking that hillside is a bedding area. He's following the creek down til he can head down that hillside straight across a gravel road into a grown up field. Where all the other thick stuff is. He's definitely close. Just really trying to figure it out. It's of course heavily pressured land. My thing is I'm really trying to be careful about going in again. Haven't pulled any cams yet, hopefully that'll help me decide. Of course they're not right on the rubs it's about a half mile away on a think travel route. 🤞

I always say, when a buck makes a rub it’s equal to us dropping a pin on our maps on our phones. And every rub is a different type of pin and you have to find the right pins (rubs) to hunt.

Dan I got a question on something on something that is baffling me? I have a buck that I’m hunting. His bed makes sense why he is bedding there his food source is 100 yds away. But I set up for the wind for him to scent check the area before he goes to food. However he tailwinded straight into the food source from his bed. Is this normal early season behavior because of no pressure or is he that confident in his bed that he walks to the food source and observes visually before entering the field

    Great information..
Do you feel that something triggers in 3 or 4 year old bucks to make them smarter and more stealthy or are bucks that live to be 5,6,7 years old smarter and more secretive from the rip and that's why they survive to be old bucks?

Thanks for explaining about rubs, this definitely helps. I been on the same buck for three years now on my property here in Harlan Ky. He started off rubbing small pines and then the year after he was rubbing small poplar but last year went back to some three to four in round pines. I watch most of yalls content, thanks again.
