My EXBro in law was from Lawton way way back in the day. He met my sister here in Louisiana when he was stationed at the AFB here. He did get transferred to Altus AFB and I did get to go stay with them back when I was a teen. I know the wind never stopped blowing the whole month I stayed with them in Altus. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Growing up in Lawton was fun as a child in the 70s-80s. Sad to see it fallen apart. Went back in 1990 and was not for me. So happy the army sent us overseas
9:59 So the Future of Walmarts look like Prisons? LO L Cameras and fences man what tha...... Very Road Warrior Like LOL Howdy and thank you for venturing a place I will never go perhaps LOL The Parallel Forest is just outside of here, my paranormal Research has drawn me to want to go there. But Lawton is ranked by sheer volume of reported crime in the top 100 most Dangerous Cities in the United States, based on population as well. Not a safe place, Frederick Oklahoma is similar.
I went to basic and advanced training at Ft.Sill in August-December Although we weren't supposed to, another soldier and I snuck off base a few times to do some drinking and visit those super friendly ladies at the massage parlors lmao 🤣. Makes me wonder if those are shut down now and that's why the ladies are out walking the streets? 🤣. It was a real dump back then, but not asbad as it appears to be today.
Ya I seen several ladies of the night, almost as many as you would see on Harry Hines in Dallas I was kinda shocked but it makes since with basic being there, that it would be a thriving business. Another thing I found odd that I didn't mention in the video, but I was there 2 days and only seen one cop car that whole time. Usually in Oklahoma a town of 200 people have 5 or 6 cops
I spent a few yrs there as a child bc both my parents were in the army, The avg person in lawton is poor or slightly above poor to where they were just making it from what I remember. Everyone used to look out for 1 another bc we were all we had. The only ones making good money own land/businesses or were officers in the military. Thats why its a ghost town nowadays. Everyone left in search of a better life/opportunities. Now, its full of felons, drug addicts, prostitutes and old people. The suicide rate and crime rate are sky high and their police need more officers. I have good memories living there in the 90s but only because I was so young and innocent. I didnt see it the way I do now and its gotten way worse since we left. It used to have way more life, activity, businesses, etc. The mall used to be open, downtown was packed full of cars and people moving around. Its so depressing now. I see why theres no hope for people there.

The best part about Lawton is that it's close to Mt. Scott and the Witchita Wildlife Refuge. So you have to leave Lawton to enjoy driving there.
