I love when Rudyard says things like, "the war was one of the bloodiest and interesting war in history...I should just make a video on Medieval China." (Not an exact transcription, but it was along these lines). YES!!! My brain is always buzzing in a good way after Rudyard's videos!

There is a part of the Atlantic where there is little or no wind and a massive amount of seaweed, that is likely the origin of the "myth" of the Sargasso sea.
The "myth" of the Sargasso Sea is actually based on real oceanographic features, though some aspects have been exaggerated over time. The Sargasso Sea is a distinct region of the North Atlantic Ocean, characterized by its abundance of floating Sargassum seaweed and often calm waters[1][6].
This unique area is bounded by four major ocean currents forming a gyre, which concentrates the Sargassum seaweed[1]. The sea is approximately 1,100 km wide and 3,200 km long[4]. Its relatively calm waters and lack of strong currents within the gyre contribute to the accumulation of seaweed[6].
Historical accounts have fueled the mythical aspects of the Sargasso Sea:
    1. Christopher Columbus noted the presence of abundant seaweed during his voyages, expressing concern about potential navigation hazards[7].
    2. Early sailors, when becalmed in this region, often mistakenly believed the seaweed was trapping their ships rather than recognizing the lack of wind as the primary cause[9].
    3. The sea gained a reputation as the "graveyard of the ocean," with stories of ships becoming entangled and crews perishing[9].
While these extreme scenarios are largely mythical, the Sargasso Sea's unique characteristics of calm waters and abundant seaweed did contribute to its mysterious reputation. Modern scientific understanding has dispelled many of these myths, revealing the Sargasso Sea as an important and fascinating ecosystem rather than a treacherous trap for ships[6].

"At the time when the Seleucids were being pushed out of regions like Afghanistan by the Parthians, what we call 'Rome' today had not yet expanded toward the Middle East. Rome was still focused on Italy and its conflicts in the Western and Eastern Mediterranean, such as the Punic Wars against Carthage. So, when the Chinese envoy (likely Zhang Qian) made contact with the Middle East or heard about Rome much later, it’s unlikely he was being lied to-Rome had not yet reached the level of influence in the region to directly interact with Persia or nearby lands. Historical timing is key here."

A few caveats, the Tang Empire's warrior aristocracy was not of barbarian origin, some of it was but these were fully Sinicised, and this did not include the Tang imperial family, who although had some Sinicised barbarian admixture, claimed patrilineal descent from the Li Clan of Longxi Commandery, from Lao Tzu, Li Xin, Li Guang, and the rulers of the Western Liang. An Lushan was also not an integral part of Tang China's ruling class, he was chosen for the role of 節度使 not just because he was a talented military commander, but also specifically because he was a barbarian from outside the empire and so did not have easy links with the aristocracy (which was the policy starting from the tenure of Chancellor Li Linfu).
The Anshi Rebellion also was not an ethnic conflict as is commonly thought, An Lushan derived most of his support from the local aristocracy and gentry of Hebei, who felt resentment at how they were heavily taxed and exploited by the Tang government based out of Chang'an. The war also was not a struggle between the bureaucracy and the military as the central Tang government fled and had to rely on the support of regional military units and warlords. If anything, the military was the biggest winner of the Anshi Rebellion, as the central government increasingly lost power and influence with local military commanders taking over parts of the empire, first at the periphery but increasingly at the core, with the eunuchs in the court acting as their allies to keep the emperor and bureaucracy weak and ineffectual, and eventually, the entire empire shattered into complete warlordism after the central government was completely destroyed during the Huang Chao peasant rebellion of the late 9th century. China's warrior spirit was only destroyed when the Song Dynasty came to power in the late 10th century and curbed the strength of the military by denigrating martial virtues, pensioning off the military's best commanders, putting civil servants in command positions, and flooding the army with vagrants, making it bad on purpose.
Lastly, the early Ming was the last pre-modern martial period of the Han Chinese, the Ming raided Mongolia, conquered Vietnam, and even sent marines under Zheng He to overthrow the government Sri Lanka, but this did not last long and the dynasty sissified after the death of the Yongle Emperor.

I'm surprised you didn't talk about Asia's Gypsy population when discussing the silkroad.
The gypsies started around Sassanids times and really got kicked-started when they traversed the post Islamic silkroad fleeing Arab raids. The Nawar, Domari, Lluyi and others were Asia's Gypsy populations who would be blacksmith merchants, mercenaries or missionaries for certain religions.
Asia's Gypsy population probably extended some economic movement for another 50 years after Tamarlane by simply traversing post Turkic wastelands selling stuff in different cities. The ones that weren't extinct

The prestor John story is so fucking cool. Like,
"its the heroic last stand of a man surrounded by enemies who goes down fighting, except he never went down, he still there, YOU CAN SAVE HIM! And together when we recombine Christendom we can wipe out the invaders and finally be free of war. He never gave up so how can you? He never rested so how can you? Just one more harvest and we'll have enough food for the soldiers, just one more mine and we'll have enough iron for the weapons, just one more year and we'll have enough men to punch through and join forces. So work hard men and do not rest!"

"Great talk, I learned a lot! One thing I noticed was missing, though, is the importance of the King’s Road. Built during the Achaemenid Empire under Darius the Great in the 5th century BCE, this incredible highway connected the Mediterranean to Central Asia nearly 500 years before the Silk Road emerged. It was the first major infrastructure for East-West trade and cultural exchange, with well-maintained routes and relay stations enabling rapid communication across the empire. The King’s Road laid the foundation for the Silk Road by proving that long-distance trade and connectivity were possible on a massive scale-a true marvel of its time!"

Great show, fun time hearing these guys talk history and geopolitics. Fun detail though silk isn’t grown from seeds. It’s the product of silk worms, a kind of insect. The core of the story is true there was a hollow cane to smuggle out the worms, still alive! No easy feat. And he had to observe how they were “cultivated” as in, kept in pens and fed their special diet of a certain leaf. To get all that out was a big deal for sure.

The Tocharians were an Indo-European people, and their physical appearance, based on archaeological finds such as the well-preserved Tarim Basin mummies, suggests they were more similar to populations of ancient Europe and Central Asia than to East Asians. Many mummies show features like light hair (blonde or reddish), elongated skulls, and Caucasoid facial structures, resembling the people of the steppes or even Northern and Eastern Europeans.
Genetic studies reveal that the Tocharians were descended from the Afanasievo culture of Siberia, related to early Indo-Europeans who migrated eastward. They later mixed with neighboring populations in Central Asia, which may explain some Asian influences in their culture. While there is no single group today that directly "looks like" the Tocharians, populations in Central Asia, particularly around the Tarim Basin, and some in Europe or the Caucasus region might share distant genetic links or similar features.
In short, the Tocharians were a unique mix of Indo-European ancestry and Central Asian influence, leaning more toward their Western roots in appearance.

The kushan empire (or the yuezhi, which by the way were the same people who allied with the chinese against the Hun) is the entity that finished the Bactrians, not the parthians (btw the indo-greco kingdom was an independent kingdom that lasted a little longer).
The kushans were the descendents of the ancient eastern Scythians and as you said they were indo-european and thus white.

CChina has basically always referred to itself as "the central kingdom" or "middle kingdom". What varies is dynasties and dynasties ruled parts or all China. The idea of "all under heaven" is also ancient, but it refers more to the emperor's authority than to the Chinese ethno-state. They do not refer to their state or government as "heavenly kingdom" that's a flat out misnomer from making a portmanteau of sky/heavan as in "all under heaven 天下 and middle kingdom 中国。

All wars are trade route wars including the mongol ones that destroyed khorasan actually monglos were not technologically advanced it was just they borrowed engineers from china once they took it over and you might say the refusal and ego of khorasan was the reason but trade domination and in a way hegemony over seas trade in a land version so its not ironic that venetian banker merchants would ve loved a free trade zone but couldnt get one because protectionisim centerlized of empires through tax and road check point caravansaris but it wouldve been nice to crush centralized empires only if they could hire mercenaries like they did in italy so mongols proved themselves to be the isis of their day and trade relations ship of venetians and crusaders mongols good trade relationship ship and antagonisim to shia nationaist assasins against them or against seljuks could be explained i guess they say they made it desert and called it peace pax mongolica was the end of the east from muslim lands and persia and china to russia were just under mongol authority and its not a coincedence that marko polo was able to freely move (west enjoyed unimpeded trade with east and were able to grow and take the concenterated knowledge of asia and advance it being rich helped it and merchant bankers usury also played a big role micheal hudsons books about debt tells you why nations were created to borrow as a nation instead of a king so most people avoid the role of monopolies of financiers and bankers )
cause of security and trade relationship of venetians and their spies even mongols having christian wives etc has to do with this connection

Although Chinese people do call Whites "ghosts", that term only arose around 1600 when European arrived to China to trade. Chinese people initially referred to Europeans as "Greater Chin Empire" just as we refer to Turkiye as "Asia Minor" (as opposed to Asia Major, which is the non Ottoma part of Asia).

China had problems with cavalry force generation because of its climate and terrain which was unsuited to horsemen. Regarding China's Western expansion, yes, it was driven by the desire for horses, but also to maintain the trade route. Regarding its cost: self funding! Namely, send out small forces to outposts, exact tribute, establish small colony. Bring in more soldiers, send spearhead west. Basically very similar to how the US cavalry set up forts in the West, but instead of along a broad front it is on a narrow front and without great superiority in technology though Chinese technology was more advanced than the Xiong Nu and Mongols. Once outpost is established its just a matter of exacting tribute, offering protection, and intermarriage to seal the deal. Voila, new client state, route secured, trade secured.

凶怒 is pronounce hsiohng new! English doesn't have first tone, unfortunately, but hsiohng would be high and flat not rising nor falling (english has tones for grammar such as ? and ! and . but Chinese uses tones to disambiguate all the sound alikes).
